Where do i start? Firstly this hotel allows smoking and staff turn a blind eye to the fact that its a dope den, it stinks all over the hotel. Do you really want to fall asleep in a building with rooms full of drunk and/or stoned regulars falling asleep holding a joint or cigarette? Got to our room and it was freezing, dirty, tatty, had a tiny little TV on the wall with most stations not working, TV control was so manky the buttons stayed down when you pressed them, the view from the absolutely FILTHY window was of a window box full of stagnant green water and litter and a homeless man asleep in a doorway. The handle on a basin tap was not fixed on and kept coming off. We went out for the evening and came back to our room to find the carpet sodden with water, all our stuff had been moved onto the bed and the bin from the ensuite and a glass had been moved to catch black water running out of the ceiling, there was water all over the ensuite it turned out the couple in the room above had decided to rip their radiator off the wall. We went back downstairs and informed them our room was flooded and got no apology from the night staff (who were being shouted at by a drunken guest) but we were told we had been upgraded to a dry room at the top. The room was okay but it looked out onto one of the surrounding nightclubs and the noise of screaming and shouting went on until around 6am. No hot water for shower, Staff in the morning were nice but no partial refund given. If you stay here make sure you wear a biohazzad suit and no where the fire exits are. Collapse

Booked this hotel on Agodo and got a single room (with window) for just over £30, well worth the money, yes the hotel is very very dated, I have never before been asked if I wanted a smoking or non smoking room! the corridors were a little smelly but the room was fine, it's not 5 or 4 star so don't expect it. it was however clean and tidy with a decent bed and shower, for £30 a bargain, I wouldn't want to pay anymore than about 45 though, if you are in Manchester for one night and just want somewhere to sleep and shower then you can't go wrong with this place. Wouldn't recommend for females on their own though as the hotel is down a back street and would imagine it could be intimidating for a lady on her own. Collapse

This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I have been told that: A) Central Heating has been turned off to save money and won't be turned baxk on and that has been a directive from Head office. B) Wi-Fi is only for 20 or so minutes in you're room and then have to pay £7 for 24 hours. But it is free in public areas..!!! C) I asked for a heater for my room as it was freezing and no heating. It took me to "complain" 3 times in order to get a heater, which took 24 hours to arrive.!!! This is really a bad hotel, it is dirty and tired and needs money spending on it and also they need to get rid of undesirables as well. There is a putrid stench of smoke and also cannabis.... Try and avoid this hotel like the plague Collapse

This hotel has a fantastic location but sadly that is the only positive it has going for it. I have stayed in plenty of cheaper hotels and have been a night shift manager at a low end hotel, how ever this experience was something else. We arrived at the hotel at around 12.30 and although I knew I was early for the 14.00 check in I thought I would see if the room was available. I walked up to the desk and was very rudely told check in was at 14.00, the worker didn't even check if I actually had a booking, thankfully they let us drop our bags off and we explored the high street. When we came back we was finally checked in. The room was up on the third floor, only one lift was working and the lift has a capacity of around 5 people (with luggage) so there was a fair wait for that. We got to our room which was sadly outside the lift (the doors are like paper so heard alot of foot traffic and staff radios) we walked in to one of the darkest hotel rooms I have ever seen, no window in the room which wouldn't have been an issue if there was lights in the room!! The only source of lighting was 3 lamps dotted around the surprisingly large room. Went to plug mine and my wife's phones in to charge....only one spare plug socket in the room, went to unplug on of the lamps to get another socket, not a UK socket so charger wouldn't plug in! Went into the bathroom, it actually had a light in it!!! Was greeted by black hair in the sink (I'm ginger so deffo not mine) The room Was absolutely roasting but I could hear the air con whirling away so I clicked to the coldest setting and left the room to carry on with my day. Came back to the hotel at about 12 am and asked at reception if I could grab 2 extra pillows, was told that they would bring some up in a min. Went Into the room and was greeted by the jet engine aircon....still blowing out hot air... Got to 1am an hour after I had asked for the pillows. Went back down to reception and again (after a wait as the staff was to busy talking to each other to do their job) asked for some pillows again. Seeing as I was staying in the world's warmest room I stopped by the drinks machine, guess the other guests had the same problem as it was completely sold out of every drink, after about 15 mins they finally brought the pillows up (to be clear the bed only had one each side and was paper thin) laid on the most uncomfortable bed (actually slept on the floor for some of the night). Woke up and was going to make use of the kettle from the 1960's until i noticed the bugs running around on the table it was on. To be clear I was expecting a basic budget option but was not expecting rude staff and an unclean room which also had a bug infestation. This hotel has so much potential if the owners was willing to spend money to renovate it Pay the extra £10/20 and stay elsewhere Collapse
