Not the Best Marriott- should be a Courtyard

I know my Marriott Hotels. I’m lifetime Platinum with this brand and have a good reference for this review. I read many of the other reviews before writing mine. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t expecting something unreasonable. However, the recent ‘less than glowing’ reviews from others are accurate. This hotel has a staff that is indifferent to the guests. They were not rude, however they were not friendly or inviting. If you walked up to the desk, you certainly felt as if you were interrupting their personal social chit chat with each other. As far as Marriott’s programs, it has no dedicated concierge lounge, no room upgrades, and why bother with Mobile check in if you are going to sit me down and recollect all of my info. These are regular programs for frequent Marriott guests, but not here. My room on the front of the hotel offered high ceilings and tall windows, but sq/ft of room was small for Marriott standards. This size was more like a Courtyard by Marriott. The location is very convenient to move about the city, but you can find that with almost every hotel inside of Rome. If this place worked on Guest service, that would go a long way to overcome some of the deficiencies in the Marriott Standard. Sorry Flora, just not impressed with your people. I’m sure this post will follow with some disingenuous reply from the hotel manager who is more interested in responding to these posts than he/she is in improving what’s wrong. I’ll go back to staying at the Courtyard on the hill! Collapse

This is the second time in as many months that I have visited and stayed at this hotel on a business trip. The hotel itself is clean and in a great location. The rooms, however, are small and dark. Not really much space to move around in and the WiFi is awful. It is patchy and slow. I did not complain as it was free (Marriott Rewards member) but if I did have to pay the 9 euros I would be demanding my money back. The staff are really pleasant, always a smile on their face and helpful. I would stay here again on my next visit to Rome. The Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Collosseum were all walking distance. Good location, small rooms, pricy but a good place to stay if you want to be in the city

We stayed several times before in this hotel which has renovated the lobby over the past year. Be aware as Marriott member that there is no Club Lounge! This hotel offers free breakfast for Gold and Platinum members. In other properties you get drinks in the bar at certain times and water every day of your stay additionally – this might be a nice perk at this franchise property for the status guests. Rooms are clean but very small and dark in case you have the standard version. Bathrooms have the “antique” design matching the “old century” feel of the hotel nevertheless they were renovated and functional. We had a “quiet” room to the inside; so no noise from the main road “Via Veneto” - which can be quite noisy during night time when the garbage collection takes place - BUT we had noise from the neighboring rooms! It seems there was a group of women having several rooms and they were constantly moving around from one room to the other with slamming doors nearly every minute. I complained but unfortunately no change in behavior was visible - at least it stopped at night. Breakfast was very good for Italy but was not 5 star compared to international standards. You have a fantastic view of Rome while having breakfast. The crew in the breakfast room is very friendly, helpful, nice and attentive. A big THANK YOU to them! I stay mainly at luxury hotels worldwide - independent, chains, small, large, you name it - and this hotel lives from the location at the famous Via Veneto and the name. On international standard comparison this is an overall 4 star. Price wise very expansive (in line with Paris & London) but you have a very good location within walking distance to the heart of Rome’s major attractions. Collapse

My husband and I spent a lovely weekend in this very comfortable hotel. Upon arrival we were given an upgrade to a lovely corner suite with four windows and two little terraces. What a treat. All of the staff were very professional and couldn't do enough for us. A smooth checkin and a lovely rooftop breakfast as well with excellent service. All spotlessly clean and comfortable bedding. It has been almost a year since we stayed at this hotel and overall the memory we have is still disappointed and underwhelmed. It was the last hotel on our 2 week stay, the location is great but the hotel was average at best and underwhelming after 2 weeks of incredible hotels. Rooms were very small and cramped and the wifi continually disconnected and had very spotty service. The breakfast on the rooftop had a great view but the food was very average and not worth the price - it was also difficult to find! We would not stay here again, it was not worth the money considering the price we paid per night was the same at luxury locations in Italy we stayed in with exceptional service and amenities.
