Short Break In Torremolinos

Three nights together with my daughter & 4 year old grand-daughter. A nice short break though the flight timing was such as to make the travel tedious. Spent some time by the hotel pool where the 4 year old had a great time - didn't want to leave. She made a good friend of about the same age. Service at the hotel pool was good - nice cafeteria lunch. Spent a day going to Malaga: an easy trip by train from near the hotel. Took the roun city bus tour - highly recommended - highlights were visit to the Picasso Museum. Congratulations to the Spanish football team & the Spanish supporters in Torremolinos who made a lot of noise but no drunkness or nasty behaviour. Collapse

Great hotel, great pool, great facilities, great staff, decent location and food to die for! Wow! This was a last-minute, spur of the moment booking for myself and one of my sons to an area we had never visited before so it was all new ground for us. And we were not disappointed in any way. Hotel Roc Flamingo is located in the centre of Torremolinos and is just a 10 minute walk away from Torremolinos's many beaches via the lovely old town centre and newer shopping arcades. The hotel itself is clean and well appointed, the rooms are simple with lovely balconies and great bathrooms, and again, spotlessly clean, and the buffet style breakfast and evening meal (we went half board) was superb, both in the quality and range of what was on offer, and, value for money. The pool and hotel grounds are lovely, offering both shade and sun and plenty to do (table tennis, petanque, pool, darts, air hockey) whether you are an energetic teenager or someone who likes to enjoy reading a book quietly. And the hotel's Entertainments Team are absolutely brilliant - working hard morning and evening to offer a range of fun activities, and all free of charge, for those of any age who wish to take part (aqua gym, water basketball, rifle shooting, petanque, darts, bingo, mini disco, evening shows etc etc). When we stayed there was a real mix of clientele with many Spanish, French, German, Danish, Dutch and Norwegian travellers as well as English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish, and the hotel attracts everyone from families with little ones, to older people, young couples, single parents and solo travellers of all ages, making for a very friendly, inclusive and family atmosphere. Finally, a special mention must go to the bar staff Juan Carlos, Juan and colleagues throughout the hotel, who work tirelessly throughout the day to make sure that everyone feels welcome and happy. Thank you to you all. I would definitely recommend Hotel Roc Flamingo to anyone wanting a mid-market, mid-price break on the Costa Del Sol. Collapse

Myself and my husband booked a late deal through Jet2 just for 4nights arriving Friday morning and arrived back home today. To be honest we were ready for home by Saturday! I know in the description of the location it says close to town centre but you are literally based on a main road which is very run down with lots of shops closed. The centre is 2 mins walk and full of shops and restaurants and caters well for the Spanish.... there's very few English bars to visit. Shopping is great and on an evening it's very busy with all the locals eating and drinking which is a nice atmosphere. The drive up to the hotel made our hearts sink! It's not appealing to the eye one bit and makes you feel like you are on a city break! The hotel from the outside is very tired and not appealing at all! Inside the hotel reception looks ok apart from when you move to the old lifts which don't have sensors on and have closed on us a few times! The walk to your room is depressing.... the blue carpet is filthy with what looks like plaster dust marks from the renovation of the rooms all over the carpet... the doors to your room takes you back to the early 70's when it was probably built! The rooms inside are lovely can't complain although if you require a shower without flooding the bathroom don't put it on full! The food was standard for all inclusive not great but not bad. The snack area was pretty poor tho... cold food that's been there hours very dry and very poor standard! Drinks were ok tho. The pool is very small and the area for sun loungers is also tiny we didn't mind this as we didn't use this facility we went to the beach using the free bus or went for a ride elsewhere as we hired a scooter to get away from the resort! The hotel itself is ok if you are Spanish... whilst we were there I think only 3 or four English families were there. Definitely NOT an English (family) hotel. I wouldn't bring my kids here. It's more like a seaside resort hotel for the Spanish and they didn't really cater well for other nationalities from what I experienced. This hotel is definitely NOT a 3 star hotel. I've stayed in many 3 star with Jet2 and I'm really disappointed. This break was not cheap....we wanted a quick flight and quick transfer.... the pictures make the hotel look lovely... don't be fooled...we are really disappointed in this hotel. I have never written a negative review as myself and my husband are pretty laid back and like to experience things ourselves to make our own decisions. BUT I really wish I'd have kept my money in the bank! Get to Benalmadena... much nicer resort and more English friendly! Collapse

I know it's located in a central area, but it doesn't mean there need to be loud music or activities in the hotel area from morning until night. The rooms are of good quality and the staff are polite and accomodating. It's not far to the beach, and the shuttle service was a welcome alternative after a long day at the beach. This might however expand it's capasity and be better marketed. I'd probably go for a breakfast-only option if I come back. I found much of the food rather lacking in taste, as it was sparsely spiced. Good hotel, a little noisy, not amazing food, but worth it's price. Collapse

The rooms were nice and cleaned every day. It had a small fridge and balcony. All in all this hotel was a bit from the beach, but still within walking distance. Also they provide with a free shuttle to the beach and back which was super. The town around was lively with better food than the hotel. Flamingo had what we expected but little more. We also never used the pool or much of the entertainment at the hotel as we were more interested in the city around. Staff is pleasant and friendly. They always greet us with a smile and try to help with anything we ask. I would stay here again, but only with breakfast included as that was the best. Collapse

Firstly i think a holiday is what you make it. We have just returned from a week long stay and had a fantastic time. Our room was lovely and plenty of room for the three of us. Cleaned every day. Bathroom great nice modern design. Food was good always plenty of choice and we had a plain eater with us who managed to eat at every mealtime, the carvery meat was very nice. Desserts great selection. We never had a problem getting a sun bed. The bar staff are fab Gabriella, carlos etc did a great job and i never had to wait anymore than a few minutes to be served. The animation team ricardo and debra made our week giving us many laughs and great fun! The only thing i would have changed was the live music night, but maybe that just wasn't to my taste. All in all we had a fab time and would defiantly return well done roc team Collapse
