Three nights together with my daughter & 4 year old grand-daughter. A nice short break though the flight timing was such as to make the travel tedious. Spent some time by the hotel pool where the 4 year old had a great time - didn't want to leave. She made a good friend of about the same age. Service at the hotel pool was good - nice cafeteria lunch. Spent a day going to Malaga: an easy trip by train from near the hotel. Took the roun city bus tour - highly recommended - highlights were visit to the Picasso Museum. Congratulations to the Spanish football team & the Spanish supporters in Torremolinos who made a lot of noise but no drunkness or nasty behaviour. Collapse

This was our first visit to spain, despite having travelled extensively. But we had previously had day trips to Seville and Barcelona before. We chose the ROC Flamingo because it was off the main drag but easily approached from the promenade by lifts, although there are steps for the able bodies. We were greeted by two very friendly receptionists who dealt with us promptly. They indicated that the room would be wall facing so we opted for a pool view room at an extra 2 Euros a day (a notice displays this facility). At least it was better than getting to the room and then deciding we had to move. The rooms were as advertised on the website, fairly up to date, spacious, with laminate flooring with lovely bathrooms. No bath but a very spacious shower, very modern and well equipped. The dining room was impressive, modern with plenty of seating where staff worked very hard to keep things going. Excellent choice of food with a lovely salad bar and various pastas, sauces, meats, fish and stews daily. A separate island contained salad mixtures, meats and cheeses as well as herb shakers, oils and dressings. Chefs served different meats and fish to order daily and the sweet counter had an extensive range of deserts and fresh fruits. Breakfast was equally good, with a good choice of eggs (fried, scrambled, boiled) as well as the usual accompaniments. There are three strategically placed coffee/tea machines as well as two toasting machines with ample supplies of fresh breads and rolls continually cooked in a bake off oven nearby. Daily wine recommendations on display although we were all inclusive. Nevertheless the wine was okay, coupled with Sangria with a nice little touch of orange and lemon slices to accompany your drink. The pool bar was indoors with nice seating and a good selection of meats, pizzas, hamburgers, salads, fruits, teas and coffees if you preferred to stay by the pool. There were plenty of sunbeds and the pool was cleaned regularly and of a good size. The hotel is located in the town among shops, bars and restaurants with a nearby bus stop and entrance to the underground rail station for those wanting to explore. The old town is nearby and a leisurely walk but uphill for a bit. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard and I can honestly say the staff were all extremely pleasant. The entertainment was basic with discos, bingo etc but there was an excellent flamenco show on our last night. There is an entertainments team but since there weren't many children about, they were a bit devoid of candidates during the day, although a few adults did participate. The hotel is favoured by Spanish people though but there were a few English speaking Swedish, Danish, and a few English and Scots around The hotel has a shuttle bus which goes to the beach although there are steps and lifts and it is not far. The Plaza is quite pedestrian and fairly accessible all around for those with mobility problems. We did see a number of people with disabilities out and about and I think the Costa del Sol is well equipped for this in terms of hires of scooters. On the whole I wished we had stayed longer than the one week, but we will certainly return the ROC Flamingo. Collapse

Stayed here a week for my 4th time at this hotel with a friend his first time to roc flamingo the improvements are very good looks much more modern still the lifts are a pain to be fair but suppose noting you can do about them food was fantastic NO complaints very good choice the bar near the food however doesn’t open until 10.30 which I think is a little late as the mornings are a bit cooler and people like to sit round pool with coffee drinks ect and very very slow there is only one person serving and in the evenings when it gets really busy with the great entertainment the hotel provides it does take a long time to get a drink the guy is really really friendly and does his best but it really does get busy all in all another great stay at the roc flamingo and no doubt will be back again thanks again for a great stay Collapse

Went hear on short break alone , picked hotel as was close to centre and being classed as 4 star , it would be nearer 3 star at a push , on arrival reception staff were friendly but could seem to only have 2 that spoke English but nice , so went to room , very outdated and in needing refurb , although bathroom was ok , so I went half board on first night I decided to go get evening meal , on arrival at dining hall , I was met by the I’m assuming head waiter , I forgot his name , but anyway he showed me to a seat , I will also point out there were couples behind me , so I was showed to my seat only to be asked to get up and moved to another seat I said excuse he just shrugged his shoulders and I was moved into a cramped seat I was furious but left it as I was tired and just wanted out by then , so I proceeded get food , well was a mix and match of everything I couldn’t work out what was what as it was properly displayed , so decided just to have French fries , from what I seen food was below par and never 4 star quality , so I decided to eat out , , I was extremely disappointed in hotel and food wouldn’t recommend to any of my friends so payed good money for four nights 3 star at a push Collapse

I stayed all inclusive over christmas and new year. I booked myself and my elderly parents with easyjet holidays. The flights were exactly what you would expect if you booked flights on their own . Easyjet was very good with the flights. When i arrived at the hotel, i looked around, i compared the standard of this hotel with what i would expect of any 4 star hotel and i contacted easyjet asking if my family could be moved. My booking was non refundable so i could not be moved and i agreed to stay. The staff here in the hotel are amazing. Everyone attentive, caring , polite and helpful. That came in particularly helpful when my mother had sickness and diarrhoea and the maid helped clean it up. My mother who is 82 went down with this twice in two weeks. First time for two days and the second for three days. My father who is 86 only once for two days. When i picked up an elderly woman off the floor, she had fainted after being sick and the maintenance man was helpful as he lifted her feet into her bed. The great staff is across the board, from the bar to the restaurant, the reception to the cleaners. Each and everyone was amazing while the guests have sickness. The illness was most certainly food poison. I do not know if the sickness is anything to do with cold food but the food was always cold. i did tell and show one of the chefs that a portion of chicken was not cooked and cold and she lifted a full tray away. In two weeks i have not seen the hotel manager. To my mind, that means there is no quality control. A manager should be visible , checking and setting standards and a manager should put right the cold food without someone telling them that the food is cold. If the manager cant do that then just walk the corridors in the evening and see sick soaked sheets that have been put out of rooms by the sick. Now if the manager was there, the manager was not visible and therefore might as well bot have been there . I never once in two weeks had hot food. The hotel is tired and run down , the finish is shabby and a junior suit is not by any stretch of the imagination, actually a junior suit. Dont be fooled by lovely room pictures, the bedding, while clean, is washed out. There is paint where it should not be and no paint where it should be. You can say the same for plaster on the carpets, reflective on the mirrors and so on. Un removed Graffiti in the lifts and in the communal toilets keep the low standard down there. 8 euro a day for a sun bed at the pool during summer. I have to say the beds in the rooms are very clean and comfortable. After that, even if i was offered it for nothing, free of charge, i would never choose to stay here again and if this standard of hotel is indicative of the brand, ROC , sorry, i wont be back. My mother had no food for a week My father had no food for a week and i stopped eating through fear of falling ill eating out every day for a week. Sorry for the delay in this post but i chose to progress compensation first Collapse
