We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a larger group visiting for the Classic Grand Prix. Super room overlooking the harbour, staff so helpful about location of anything you wanted to find. Great breakfasts, although we didn't eat at hotel in evening. Quite a long walk to get to casino square, but that's part of the fun, there are of course taxis for the less able. So I spent one night here and will never return. The hotel itself is average. My room had a view of a sports field and not much else. The room was standard; no issues as it was comfortable and spacious. I slept fine while there. The location is a bit isolated but Monaco is not that large so it was not a big deal. Still it did feel very outside the rest of Monaco. The issue was the staff. I will start by stating the the gentleman at check in was very nice although he had me sign up for Marriott rewards (I used to be a member but he could not pull me up) telling me I would get free wi-fi. So I did but never received the free wi-fi code. My main issue is particularly with the night manager and staff. I received a e-mail from SNCF (train provider) at around 9:30 PM with a very generic message about my train to Paris the next day. I tried calling SNCF myself but the phone system was strictly French and my French was not up to par to understand. My train was ‘supposed’ to be at 9:35 AM. So I went down to the front desk and explained what I had just received and asked if they could assist me/help me out with what my options might be. Up front, my train the next day was rescheduled and no longer would depart from Monaco but instead from Nice. She was very pleasant and seemed predominantly English speaking (as she seemed confused when reading the French portion of the e-mail sent to me) but seemed to be a junior staff member and of very little assistance. So he asked her colleague next to her assist. He was busy at the moment and she asked me to wait. I waited for about 15 minutes and when he became free she was busy and he seemed to go out of his way to avoid me. After she got free she asked him again to which he replied in French to get the Night manager. She went into he office and came out and said in French to her colleague that he was on the phone. I waited another 15 minutes and the manager still had not come out at which point she went back in. From the second he walked out it was clear by the expression on his face he did not want to assist me. Without listening to a word I said he goes to tell me the facts (which he had totally wrong) and the said it was due to the strike and then went to walk away. As I replied back that I needed to know my options (cab to Nice train station, cab to NIce Airport, or some other train, etc...) He tells me they cannot contact SNCF even by phone as they are closed. At no point would he recommend/offer information. If I did not ask a specific question he would simply stand there and say nothing. After quite a bit of back and forth I finally got him and the girl who originally greeted me to go to the SNCF website where they told me I could catch a local train to Nice in the morning and from there catch a train to Paris. Now I understand they can’t control SNCF or even know how the strike will affect service. They should be able to tell me about transportation to/from their hotel to local transportation hubs. When I asked if someone from SNCF would be at the train station at 8:00 AM to assist the managers response was ‘it depends where to go in’. I looked at him in utter bewilderment as I was taking their shuttle to the train station. So when I replied ‘where does your shuttle drop me off and how to I get to the SNCF staff from that point’ the girl interceded and told me where the service desk was from where I would be dropped off. When I specifically asked again if SNCF staff would be there at 8:00AM the manager said yes. This was a outright lie! The manager simply wanted to get rid of me. So the next day I go to the station at 8am and sure enough no SNCF staff (there normal hours start at 9am). The first two trains I was told would get me to Nice were cancelled and the third was delayed 40 minutes. I took that one blind just hoping I was doing the right thing. Once in Nice I got everything sorted and was able to catch another train to Paris. The staff (especially the Night Manager) could have helped me out with honesty, courtesy, and not making me feel like I was totally on my own in a foreign country and potentially stranded. Instead I was treated like an annoyance and given horrible guidance. A five star resort as they claim to be (they are not in my opinion, not even close, a Super 8 is just as nice) should provide a higher level of service/help. I will never return to this hotel. We booked a room with mountain view since we would be spending minimum time in the room. What nobody told us, that mountain view was practice football view! where little children were practising all day and the noise was loud. When we requested to be transfered to a higher floor, they suggested that we move to a sea view room with different price! The room was small but ok. The bathroom however was a different issue. There were no standard ammenities that you would have expected from a Marriott hotel such as bathrobe and slippers. The head towel was so small, I could barely towel dry my hair. As for cleanliness, forget it. No bag in the waste bin, the big towel although washed had stains and finally on our second day there, they didn't bother to clean the sink and bathtub. On the plus side, breakfast was good and the shuttle bus driver was very polite and helpful. Collapse

If you are used to American standards of the Marriott, stay away. This place is nowhere close to being 4 stars. First, it is completely away from the central area of Monaco. The lobby is small and the elevators are even smaller. I felt everytime I was in one that we would get stuck because they are so old and outdated. Upon entering the room, we noticed the carpets were STAINED BLACK (room 306 so management can get this taken care of). I did not take my shoes off the entire time because I felt so dirty. The shower glass did not cover the entire shower. Literally, the tub itself was about 5 feet long and there was a glass that did not span the entire length of the tub, it was just a piece of 2 feet glass with the rest open. So not only do you freeze because there is no door but water splashes everywhere and gets the already tiny bathroom completely soaked. They offer "free shuttles" but the shuttle only fits 7 people that only departs ONCE per hour, and you have to reserve ahead of time. Several times we needed to get into town and could not for this reason. So if you are not one of the lucky 7, you have to wait another hour and hope that you can fit in the next tiny shuttle. Further, the shuttle driver is lazy and rude and refuses to let people inside the van until he is ready. Lastly, breakfast was a joke. You can write your order and leave it on the door the evening before, and they still managed to screw up the order even though everything is CLEARLY WRITTEN. And, it was late. Just a sad experience. Also don't even bother with the pool. It's just old, gross lounge chairs with a food truck. Collapse

Lovely hotel, very clean and luxurious. Free taxi service FROM the hotel, no pickups. As somebody who enjoys a drink, Denis the bar man has been a particular highlight. Lovely guy and very attentive... nothing is too much for Denis.
