Situated in the district of Harbor Town, close to the Mississippi River and a stone’s throw from downtown Memphis, the River Inn is a charming boutique hotel. European in the style, this cosy hotel is unlike any other in Memphis. A short distance from top attractions like Sun Studios and Beale Street, Elvis Presley’s home at Graceland is also fairly easy to reach too – a mere 15 minutes away.
The four star accommodation at the River Inn of Harbour Town offers a welcome retreat after a long day of sightseeing. Each of the guestrooms at the hotel are luxuriously furnished, and come with handy in-room amenities like a flat-screen TV, in-room safes, and complimentary Wi-Fi access as standard.
Set yourself up each day with a gourmet breakfast at the River Inn. Treat yourself to the sumptuous fine dining at Paulette’s Restaurant, or the simple soul food at Tug’s Casual Grill – also ideal for a nightcap or two. Blow off some steam in the fitness room, relax in the Library-style seating area, or take in sweeping views of the mighty Mississippi River from the hotel’s terrace.

After a weekend friends' wedding in Oxford, Mississippi and flying out of Memphis on Sunday we decided to stay somewhere special and glad we pick the River Inn of Harbor Town out of the 3 we had on our list. Even though it was a Sunday 24 hour stay we ate lunch prior to check in at Tugs where they had cold beer, great gumbo and nice menu. We were there a little early for check in post lunch so the very professional with a great attitude hotel check in staff let us pre check in and we made our way to Beale Street which is just a few blocks away for some daytime fun hearing the blues. That evening we visited the contemporary Terrace with a great view where we were fortunate to view the lighting show over the river but this menu is more our style with great vino and cocktails. The River Inn of Harbor Town got our morning off with a complimentary breakfast at their fine dining evening restaurant..Paulettes. We travel a lot but not to hip about being a critic or giving a positive review but I think this review is very well deserved for future patrons looking for a place in the Memphis area. My wife and I truly enjoyed, thank you! Collapse

Fantastic from the moment we checked in. Michea (always with a smile and super professional personality) and staff were wonderfully helpful, and knowledgeable. We felt as if we were guests in her(their) homes). Any question we had was answered immediately and every accommodation for our stay was attended to. Their enthusiasm for helping us and other guests with directions, suggestions for dining, and pointers for enjoying Memphis was noticeably a symbol of southern hospitality, .Brandon, the bartender, was fun and made us feel as if we were family, while he related stories of the Memphis area and created a special drink for my daughter. He was interested in our lives and shared some of Memphis history and his experiences. Breakfast each morning was a treat, especially since Kapi remembered every detail about what our party of 4 had ordered previously. He was attentive to our requests and served with elegance. Gotta say ... the staff at River Inn was totally wonderful. We loved the piano music in the lounge each evening. I would choose the River Inn above any hotel in Memphis for the following reasons: ease of access, knowledge, expertise and charm of the staff, safe/quiet/beautiful neighborhood, fantastic room service and elegance. We had only to use a towel, soap etc., and it was replaced immediately. In all of my travels, I have never been so impressed. Collapse

I have never been to the Harbor Town area of Mudd Island before and when I got there I drove right by the Hotel without realizing it because it blends in with the Condos that are part of the area. Upon check-in you get Champagne or wine. What a Welcome! The Hotel is classy with a grand piano in the lobby area, that was being played later on that night! The room was great with a very comfortable bed and a view of the Mississippi River. Since this is an older hotel (but maintained extremely well!!) you actually have windows that open. Their are 3 restaurants as part of the hotel. The rooftop terrace which has small plates and great drinks gives you a great view of the Mississippi. There is what I would describe as a normal chain type restaurant on one side of the ground floor and an upscale restaurant on the other side (Hotel is actually on both sides of the street). Food for dinner and breakfast was great at the upscale restaurant (Paulette's). There is an actual turn-down service with chocolate truffles and some port. I never heard a peep inside the room so I had a peaceful sleep. Finally, at 6 am in the sitting area of each floor of the hotel fresh coffee is brought up. I can't say enough about the stay here. I will be back! Collapse

This is the best small inn we have ever stayed in. The staff was very attentive. They welcomed us with a glass of wine at check-in. The room was very nice. Our TV did not work and the staff quickly moved us to another room -- upgraded to a river view. Beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. At turn-down, we were given an excellent Port and Chocolate truffle candy. We were in an separate building from the main building but it was only across a small alleyway. The River Inn offers dining in two restaurants. We dined at the Terrace which has a terrific view of the Mississippi River. The Complimentary breakfast was also exceptional. We had table service and ordered from a limited menu. The location is also exceptional. If it had not been so hot, we would have strolled in the adjacent park along the river. Our only surprise was the add-on charges to the bill at check out. Before you book get a run down of the additional charges, they add up. With that little issue, our stay at River Inn was an unexpected joy. We will return in the Spring or the Fall. Collapse

This hotel and the staff are amazing. Enjoyed beautiful lobby, friendly staff, our room with its queen size four poster bed, red walls and antique looking furniture was very comfortable. The instant hot water and powerful shower was the perfect touch, and to finish off the night, port and chocolate was waiting in the room.. yum!!! Looked forward to that every night. Excellent location, evening walks along the river. Collapse
