My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary and we stayed at the Ritz Central Park. The staff was the best (helped with reservations, special attention to detail, etc.). I highly recommend. We will be back.

This is not my first time at the hotel and most of the staff are great but this isn’t a Ritz Carlton that cares about its customers and it’s not about the money over the years I have spent plenty it’s just they believe they are the Ritz and they are on Central Park and so even if they treat you poorly consistently you will return as this is the Ritz and it’s on Central Park! I am have status with Ritz hotels but in several visits they have never got the booking correct, always try and over charge and never deliver what they are supposed to. I suppose you can say they simply have attitude and it’s New York but that doesn’t excuse it. And this is all a shame as they could have such a great hotel it’s location is perfect rooms clean and comfortable and will be up to standard but I don’t need to pay what they charge to be treated like they don’t care! Such a disappointment! Collapse

Stayed at the property from March 12-15. Upon arrival on the 12 the at the night front desk employee name Jitka or Yitka ( one is right for sure) greeted us. Terrible experience, on every our question she said NO, and we thought she is the manager of the property! At the end of our check in, we were very disappointed with her customer service skills, and how she responded on our questions on some of them, she even didn't make any eye contact with us. Beutiful property, but first point of contact terrible! Collapse

First off this is a very nice hotel and my stay was fine, however there were a few disappointing points. I booked a standard Club Guest Room, and that's exactly what I was given, no consideration given toward my Ritz Carlton Platinum Elite status More on this in a bit. Service wise, the hotel is up to typical Ritz standards with professional and polite service Room was a fair size and resembles the "old school" Ritz style, i.e., very elegant Even though the hotel is an older building, the bathroom was pretty updated, offering a separate tub and shower and separate water closet and very nicely laid out. One note, though, the room did lack sufficient power outlets and no usb ports. I'm sure this will be resolved in the upcoming renovation. View wise, as advertised, it was an interior view which is mostly of the adjacent buildings' brick walsl. Unless you specifically reserve a view room, you'll most likely have a similar view. Club lounge was a bit disappointing, as some other reviewers have mentioned, and compared to other Ritz Carlton Club lounges, you can definitely notice some lacking items. Wine selection was limited and unlike other Ritz's, where if the club doesn't have a certain wine or other cocktail, most other Ritz lounge staff would offer to get from the lobby bar, not happening here. The offerings here are on the limited side, which is especially disappointing being that this is to be considered the Flagship Ritz Carlton, and one of the more higher priced club lounges. Another missing aspect was not one single hot item was offered during the evening presentations. When I inquired, I was told they do not offer hot items due to the smell of food. That makes no sense to me. I've been to many many Ritz Club lounges throughout the USA and overseas and everyone I've been to has offered 2 or more hot items. Now on to the Elite benefits. As with a lot of Ritz Carltons, they just don't like to honor the Elite Benefits. As a platinum, one of the benefits is an upgrade, even to a suite, per the terms and conditions. Right before I checked in, I went on to the app to see what other room types were available. They were still selling better view rooms as well as a variety of different suites. At check in, I inquired about a suite upgrade and was told, all suites were sold out. While I know this wasn't true, I then proceed to ask if at the least, I could receive a nicer view room but received the same answer. I wasn't in the mood to argue or create an even further awkward situation, but I really dislike when the front desk agents are not honest, and use the sold out excuse. I checked again later that evening, and still, higher category rooms were available. I get the hotel does not like to give away upgrades for free, but this is a benefit of being platinum, and if it is available, it should be honored, even more so if it's requested. I've experienced the same situation at the San Francisco property. If they don't want to honor the benefits, I'd respect it more for the hotel to just not participate in the rewards program, than in comparison to being dishonest. I'd stay here again, and recommend to others, with just the caveat to elite members, of not expecting many of the promised benefits. Hopefully, after the renovation, the club will step up it's game, and by then, the newly merged rewards program will be in effect, and hopefully better honor the program benefits. Collapse
