Modern hotel, away from the main tourist centre but quick tram to the city

I great enjoyed my stay at this new, modern hotel. My room was well furnished and layed out. The bathroom was exceptional. Most hotel rooms lack adequate space for all your toiletries but this one had a very handy row of shelves. I loved the large shower with grab bars for added safety and no tub to have to step into. Very good lighting throughout the room. Double glazed windows with built in, powered blinds and curtains meant no noise or light coming from outside to disturb sleep. The staff at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer. Always professional and helpful. I was a bit worried that there might be noise from the construction site next door, but the thick windows ensured no noise. Even if there is a little noise on the lower floors, work only happens between 8am and 5pm so no issues. We actually enjoyed watching the big cranes at eye level and the work far below from our 14th floor room. This hotel is located in the Techno Park office on the western side of the city. The main tourist sites can be reached in 20 minutes by the number 4 tram outside the hotel door. One warning though, all the food in the hotel is very expensive! 37 Swiss francs for a cheeseburger is practically the cheapest thing on the menu. There are a few eateries about 10 minutes walk away and many more 10 minutes away by tram at Limmatplatz, or 10 minutes further to the old town. Collapse

My initial impression was not good at all. First of all the hotel isn't in a nice area and to reach it using GPS by driving was not that easy. Nothing much at all in the vicinity. Moreover check in was average and I felt I was in a Residence Inn property as there was no one to help us with our luggage nor was there any valet paring.Worse still , I had used the Marriott app to request items in my room and not a single item was placed. Not only that , the housekeeping had not even bothered to place regular items in the bathroom which was stark bare! The arrival experience certainly dampened my mood considerably. The awful food that I got from room service made matters worse. However next day things changed dramatically. I was approached by some of the best staff who apologised for everything and customer service shone on every aspect. As a Platinum member I was upgraded to an executive suite which had a good sized living room and bedroom with electrically operated shades. I could see the beautiful Alps in the distance as well. The room was very sparsely furnished and operating the lights was not user friendly. As mentioned toiletries were non existent and not the Bulgari items as advertised. I had access to the lounge which was a cramped up average place with unappetising items. However the breakfast could be taken in the main restaurant which had a good spread of food and you could order eggs the way you liked from the kitchen. The staff there were doing a very good job in spite of the fact that it was busy with guest and airline crew. Parking was in an adjacent public facility and hotel guest received a 50% discount which brought it down to 29 francs a day with in and out privileges. Depending upon your luck, you could have valet parking if the staff was present. The hotel is a good one but needs to spruce up on the issues I faced and housekeeping must definitely improve. Collapse

Zurich is super expensive, of course, and finding a good hotel with a reasonable price can be difficult. This is a modern, very comfortable hotel with very good rates. The location is a two minute walk to the tram, which has you in the central train station in 20 minutes. Plus, if you're from the states like me, it's nice to rise on this super efficient, clean public transport. The rooms are good, with really comfy beds. We had breakfast in the restaurant and it was fabulous, with everything you could possibly want, and great service. I'd highly recommend the Rennaisance. Collapse

This hotel was selected as I was arriving late by plane and had my meetings close to the train station. Finding the hotel was a bit of an adventure. But I made it. I was nicely welcomed and given as requested a high floor room with a view overlooking the West of Zurich. It was large and nice. And I could have a late light dinner and enjoyed the breakfast. So a nice hotel, but not very well located. Collapse

This hotel is located in the Zuich Airport, but to get to the hotel, one needs to go through the airport-adjoining shopping complex, pass through the train station complex, and finally to the hotel. Internet site and the hotel brochure does NOT give out the above direction, and we went outside of the airport complex to get to the hotel, and could not find the hotel entrance. Once we got the direction from a local passerby, we had to turn around, walk 50 yrs back to the airport shopping complex, and once inside, we had to walk another 50 yds to get to the hotel. After a 10+ hr flight, this process of going back & forth to locate the hotel can be very tiresome. Once inside, the hotel is very clean, well-kept, modern, and service is excellent. The lobby features a "wine gallery-dancer-music show" for which, during happy hour times, if you order a particular wiine, a dancer with a hanging rope around his/her belt will get inside a very large " glass enclosed multiple column , vertical wine cellar " , dances halfway to get to a particular wine, and dances his/her way down" to bring the wine outside of the cellar. It is fun to watch, and photograph. The hotel sells the "train ticket" (13 euro/person/day) , and the tickets can be charged to your room bill, making it convenient. Restaurant features a traditional Swiss menu... Collapse
