The room and experience here was excellent! Modern bathroom with rain shower. Staff was very friendly and always asking if we needed help. Everything was exactly as you would expect at a Marriott Renaissance. If you asked for or needed something, the answer was yes and taken care of immediately. Great experience! Also, the Republique Metro station is literally 50 steps away and an Open Tour (hop on hop off bus) stop is right out front. Great local neighborhood with a lot of restaurants, bars and stores around. Not really a tourist feel at all, as we felt like we were just in the middle of the Paris lifestyle, which was a pretty neat experience compared to what we saw in the more touristy areas. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend. Collapse
Great location, friendly staff, but our expectations based on photos for the Artist Studio Suite were far from met…

With a convenient location, well spoken staff, comfortable sauna and spa, as well as modern rooms, the Renaissance Paris Republique offers a good choice for those looking to stay at a larger, well known international brand. Had our initial room (an Artist Studio Suite) matched the bright, lovely Parisian skylined photos offered on the hotel's site, we would have no doubt given this hotel a perfect rating – but our experience of staying in an awkwardly laid out inner courtyard room, complete with lackluster views of the other hotel rooms – was disappointing and ultimately affected our mood. Staff were understanding, but with a sold out hotel and a reservation booked using points and cash, it took two days of persistence (and ultimately assistance from Marriott's Twitter account) to be given a room similar to what was advertised and we had paid for. We can't stress what a night-and-day improvement it was, and if you're lucky to receive one of the 7th floor suites, you're in for a treat. In terms of location, the Renaissance Paris Republique offers an excellent location, with several metro lines just outside the door, wonderful restaurants and bars near Canal St. Martin, and easy access to shopping. While the immediate location might be considered a little loud and not your quintessential Parisian street, this is where the locals live and as such, you have a wonderful choice of places to eat, drink, and relax in. Arriving by train from Gare du Nord, it was a short 8 minute Uber ride to and from the hotel (approx. €6). Staff throughout our stay were genuinely friendly and eager to assist (where they could), but as we mentioned earlier, the 3rd floor "Junior Suite" were were given didn't match our expectations. While the room was large, it was awkwardly part of a separate building and offered views from both sides onto the hotel patio and other rooms. The bathroom was large with a his and hers sink, but the toilet was positioned on the other side of the hotel room without one nearby. Furnishings in general were modern and well taken care of, with a comfortable bed and the standard amenities you'd expect. A Nespresso machine, mini bar, and kettle where all available, and the evening turndown service was a nice touch. Our second room, which matched the photos on the site, was smaller but much more charming. Located on the 7th floor, the three windows overlooked the Paris skyline and offered an amazing view. Notre Dame, the Pantheon, and even a sliver of the Eiffel Tower could be seen, as well as the beautiful architecture of the city. Furnishings were similar, but the bathroom was more logically laid out, with both a separate bathtub and shower as well. In both rooms, the TV was hidden by the bed, which was a nice way to give back more space to the rooms. While we didn't have a chance to enjoy a meal at the hotel, we did try out the sauna and hot tub. The facilities were calm and relaxing, with an excellent sauna and steam room. The gym was nearby, offering modern equipment, and staff were again friendly and helpful. All in all, the Renaissance Paris Republique is a good hotel and one worth staying at. Had they simply set expectations at booking (i.e. for the few Studio Suites without a view, perhaps play up the larger size as a different category), we would have had few complaints. Collapse

We stayed in Paris for 4 nights at the Renaissance. It was near some restaurants and multiple subway system entrances which makes getting around the city really easy. We had an issue with a curtain in the bathroom but they came up immediately and fixed it. We had a late train back to London but they held on to our luggage while we went back into the city and then came back and hung out in the lobby until it was time to head to Gare du Nord. Overall it was a great stay - the room was a little small but it sounds like that's a common theme in Paris. Collapse
