We were here with a tour group operated by OAT. This is a large hotel, very centrally located in Cape Town, with good restaurants and shops within walking distance. The rooms were very comfortable, and ours had a nice view north to Lions Head Mountain, just south of Table Mountain. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even calling us after we walked to a local restaurant to make sure we had found our way and had a good experience. Breakfast at the restaurant was expansive and very well prepared. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Collapse

We stayed here for three nights at the end of a two week tour of South Africa with Virgin holidays. We had stayed in some wonderful hotels during our tour and were expecting the same standard for the last three nights of our trip. Initially this hotel seemed ok but we were given a bedroom on the second floor which was shabby and dirty, with cracks in the sink, and plaster and fittings falling off the wall in the bathroom which was so tiny it was difficult to move. There were big problems with the electrics, the side lights and sockets didn't work. We spent most of our first evening waiting for someone to come and fix the problem. I couldn't even use the hairdryer before going out to dinner. Shortly after arriving we asked to move to another room and asked again the next morning but on both occasions were told the hotel was full so we could not be moved. The reception staff on both occasions were very abrupt and unhelpful. We overheard other guests complaining and asking to be moved, also reading some reviews here it is obvious that it was not just us that were very unhappy with our room. Collapse

A valentines day event at the hotel was well worth the money! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment at your hotel. The food was fresh, tasty and absolutely exceeded my expectations. The setup for the movie was amazing under the stars and we even had a blanket to keep my partner and I warm ontop of having heaters. The staff were so friendly and honestly were just amazing in how they managed the evening including the waiting staff. I really think that the popcorn and candy floss was a wonderful touch and really made my partner and I feel like we were cuddled up at home. I would attend another event like this at your hotel in the future. Really a job well done! Collapse

We did not spend the night at the hotel, but we did attend a wonderful Valentines day event hosted by the hotel. The Hotel arranged for an outdoor screening of the romantic movie, the notebook. We had a lovely experience, which included wonderful pizza's, dessert, candy floss and popcorn. The setting was wonderful, complete with beanbags, cushions and blankets set out around the pool. The staff were all super attentive and helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better valentines day experience. Thank you to all the staff for making our valentines day special. Although we haven't spent a night at the hotel, based on our experience we wouldn't hesitate to stay here. Collapse

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. It is a large hotel with several amenities including an ATM in the lobby, lovely gift shop, beauty salon, swimming pool, and 2 free computers for guests to use. They also give you a free cell phone with free unlimited calls to selected countries, including the US and the UK, which was very helpful since my international phone was not working properly. I also appreciated the mini-fridge, microwave, and 2 free 750 mL of bottled water per day. My room was fairly large, and I had a comfortable king-size bed. The hotel is only a block from the beach. However, it is a quiet part of the beach, not like the lively area of Camps Bay, a few minutes' drive down the road. There is a City Sightseeing Hop-on Hop-off bus stop in front of the hotel. The room service menu is surprisingly limited for such a large hotel, but the pizza I ordered was pretty good. There is a full-time concierge, but he was not very friendly. I asked him to arrange a taxi to the airport and he quoted me a price of 495 rand (about $41 USD). I called a taxi on my own for only 310 rand (about $26 USD). There is a free shuttle to the waterfront, but times are very limited; there are only 3 pickup times to and from the hotel. My only real complaint occurred during check-in. Check-in was at 3:00 PM. I arrived at 3:45 PM and was given a first-floor room that faced the parking lot. I went to the desk and requested another room and was told that they couldn't move me because they were fully booked. This is a 349-room hotel and it was only 45 minutes after official check-in time. There is no way that everyone who booked a room had already checked in. Yet the desk clerk haughtily insisted they had nothing available. He offered to move me the next day, but this would have necessitated me packing up my room which was inconvenient. I sat in the lobby and watched several guests check in during the evening. Bottom line: they could have moved me or at least showed me a different room, but just didn't want to be bothered. I recommend this hotel if you want to be on the beach, but can't afford the pricier hotels of Camps Bay. The location was a bit quiet for my tastes, but is a short cab or Uber ride to the waterfront. Despite the issue with my room assignment, I would consider staying here again. Collapse
