We went for a long weekend in April and were recommended this hotel by some friends who stayed there in February. A very nice experience! Friendly and helpful staff in the reception, very nice and comfortable rooms, although the air conditioning was still in "winter mood " and did not supply any air conditioning other than hearing so it became quite hot in the room, we had to open the windows to get a decent temperature for sleeping. Order a room facing to the inner court yard and not facing to the street, the subway is below parts of the hotel and it was hard to sleep when the entire room was shaking when the trains ran by. We had one night of this experience but lucklily we were able to get another room for the rest of our stay. A somewhat quirky feature was that the TV was hidden in the large circular mirror! OK breakfast buffet with both hot and cold dishes. Collapse

Check in was efficient and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a luggage storage which was useful when we arrived early and left late. Our room 304 was spotless and large with 2 double doors opening on to a balcony albeit not with a great view! There was a lovely large comfy bed, plenty of wardrobe and storage space, a desk with chair and an extra armchair, a safe, mini bar and plenty of lighting. The bathroom was massive with a bath and shower, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers and lovely toiletries. The only problem we had was we couldn't get the room temperature to go any lower than what it was set to - although we didn't bother asking either because it wasn't too bad! Breakfast was delicious with tons of choice including fruit, cereal, breads, cheese, hams, pastries, cakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, mushrooms etc. etc. and plenty of drinks. The only problem was that the breakfast room was not big enough for the amount of people staying at the hotel. We found that by going a little later at around 9.45am it quietened down and there was no problem. This is later than we would normally have breakfast but with it being so warm out and we were doing loads of walking so were knackered and didn't mind having a bit of a lay in! The location was excellent being right in the centre. You could walk to all the main central sights and the trams, buses and metro stopped just around the corner to the hotel which were all easy to use; we bought a 3 day transport pass from the hotel and visited Belem, the zoo and the Oceanarium and a few other sights along the way. Overall this was an exceptional hotel at a really good price; I would highly recommend!! Collapse

Breakfast: the room is not that big but you could find everything you can imagine to eat. Remark: for lunch they offer the possibility to eat sushi. Dinner is not possible in the hotel. Collapse

We stayed in this hotel for five nights and were generally impressed by its quality. The staff were always friendly and helpful too. Our third floor room looked down on to the side street in which the hotel is sited. We could view the castle from the bay window of the room. We did have a problem locating the hotel but it was dark and we arrived late at night. The room was quite large and the bathroom was equally generous in size. The bed was very comfortable too. The position of the hotel in the city means that it is very convenient for walking to the sites and using public transport. There is also a supermarket within a seven minute walk. There is no road noise but we were constantly aware of the rumble of the Metro which runs directly under the hotel. This did not disturb our sleep as the Metro closes during the night. The breakfast was tasty and was buffet style with sparkling wine available and tasty pastries, in addition to a selection of hot food, cold meats and fruit. However, the breakfast room is small and we had to queue for twenty minutes on the first morning at 9 a.m. We learnt from this on subsequent days by taking breakfast at 8.15 when there were no problems. I have stayed at this hotel four times over a two year period. I love it because of the excellent quality and cleanliness of the property and also because of its location right in the center of Lisbon, with easy access to everything Lisbon has to offer: history, culture, fine dining, great transportation, open spaces, and friendly people. The breakfast buffet offers an excellent variety of foods and the hospitality and service at the hotel is first class. Collapse
