We arrived early just after 12.00pm and our room was not ready. We were allowed to leave our bags and were told our room would ready at 2pm. We returned to the hotel at 2pm and our room was still not ready so we went to their sushi bar to have lunch which had a very limited choice of food if you didn’t want sushi. We were taken up to our room by a member of staff; the room was spacious and spotless. There was a mini bar and a hot drinks machine, tea and coffee were approx. €1.50. As I had carried my own tea bags I requested a kettle from reception and they kindly obliged. The wifi was very good and on our first night we were given a complimentary bottle of water and some cakes. The bathroom was super; 2 wash hand basins a very spacious modern shower, toilet, bidet and a round bath big enough for 2 people. There was a generous supply of toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Breakfast was wonderful, there were a great variety of items and the food was of very good quality and included Portugal’s lovely custard tarts and cakes. We had dinner next door in the Mundial Hotel at the Varanda De Lisboa Restaurant, it had beautiful panoramic views and the food was well prepared and of a reasonable price. The location was ideal; a short walking distance to shops, tourist attractions, hop on hop off buses, metro and trams. I totally enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely stay again. I have given 4 stars only because our room wasn’t ready on time and they didn’t have their own proper restaurant. Collapse

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Portugal. You could not ask for a better location. The rooms are large and offer all the amenities you could need. The breakfast is better than most we have experienced at other hotels in Europe. The street that it is located on says that you cannot enter and our GPS took us around to a different street that you cannot access the hotel from. You are allowed to go down the street the hotel is on to drop off luggage before driving around the corner to park the car. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to make it back one day. Chose the hotel because it was central and had large rooms and wasn't disappointed. Rooms are big, tall ceilings giving more feel of space. bathroom also decent size with large shower area. Air con was very efficient and the décor and quality of bed and pillows was super (best of the holiday). All the staff were very friendly and breakfast was good standard, lots of choice and good quality. Only down sides ? Whilst close to centre and Rossini metro station it is a quite quiet at night so we ventured to the river and further afield to eat and drink. The bar in the hotel was small and in the breakfast room/restaurant, and guests did not appear to use the outside bar lounger that was available. Maybe because there was no view and a bit of noise from back of hotel beside it. Collapse

Just got back from2 nights and had a great stay. The hotel is centrally located though the street its on is a little hard to find (look for hotel Mundial and this is behind pretty much). The location was superb with both touristy attractions but also great restaurants and nightlife all within walking distance (and shopping too). Check in was quick and efficient and rooms are beautiful and all slightly different. We got an upgrade at check in and really enjoyed our stay. Just to help anyone out who is looking for places to go, we tried a restaurant O Boteco da mafalda that we loved, the waiter there recommended Park Bar (at the top of a garage!) and pensao amor as some places we should visit, we did and loved them so passing along the information!
