We recently stayed in this hotel through a late deal with Thomas Cook for one week, we got a bunch of discounts with the deal and it worked out at around £1100 for All Inclusive which also included unlimited access to Siam Park. When we arrived the hotel reception was clean, presentable and modern looking, things were looking great. We went to check in after being up since 4am and arriving at around 1pm. We were told the room was not ready yet (which is fine) they checked us in anyway and gave us our All Inclusive bands, showed us where the restaurant was and invited to go have something to eat and by the time we were done the room would be ready. When we got the room key after having something to eat (the food i will talk about later) my partner was given a map of the hotel and an X was marked on the map as to where our hotel room was and a direction of up the stairs was given to us, we managed to find our room and were greeted with 4 flights of stairs. After searching for a lift we found that wasn't one, so I had to carry our cases up the stairs, which was pretty inconvenient. We were staying in room 3501 and it was a suite which came with a basic kitchen and lounge area, the room was very clean and modern looking. However it came to light whilst exploring the room that there was no air conditioning in the room and only a fan in the bedroom which is really unhelpful during the hot and humid nights in Tenerife. Now on to the real bad experience of the holiday, the food and drink. The food was garbage, now I have read reviews on here that state the food was great, please do not listen to them the food is terrible. You get a selection of food with the same choices every night such as burgers and hot dogs along with a different selections of pasta and rice every-night. They also do theme nights such as Chinese, Mexican and Spanish. The quality of the food served is terrible, even simple things like chips aren't cooked correctly. The drinks are extremely watered down and even the lemonade tastes horrendous, the bar is open until 12pm but the All Inclusive service stops at 11pm after that you have to pay for the drinks, which is to be quite honest is disgusting when you're paying a decent amount for the All Inclusive package. The pool area was clean and well maintained, the pool bar was also okay but let down by the disappointing drinks. There is also a Jacuzzi in the hotel located on the veranda above the pool area, we decided to try it out and relax the first day we were there. When we went to access it we found that it had to be paid for €5 per 30 minutes, we persevered and went to the reception to go and pay for it. We were then told by reception that the water in the Jacuzzi isn't heated (strange) we went ahead anyway and went to try it out. We put the card in and the jacuzzi started, the electronic panel was broken and had buttons missing, so it was impossible to programme the thing. We then realised that the jets were throwing water everywhere due to the jacuzzi not being filled up enough, we had enough of it at this point went downstairs and got our money back, we told the man on reception about the problem and he just gave us our money back and didn't really seem that bothered. I must say that the staff were friendly and courteous, nothing to moan about there at all. Another issue with the hotel was that in the foyer there were a couple of pool tables, massage chairs and PC's for internet access. However, you would be lucky to have them all working at the same time, there was always an out of order sign on at least one of the machines. Also the pool table should be scrapped and put on a tip, cloth was extremely well worn and sticky and the balls had chunks missing out of them so it made it very hard to have a decent game. The hotel is also poorly situated, on the Thomas Cook website it stated that it was in close proximity to restaurants and such. There was one restaurant about 100 yards down the road, the rest were down the hill away from the hotel. The best restaurants are in Playa Fanabe which is about a 3-4 minute car journey away from the hotel, make sure you take plenty of money for eating out and taxi's because you will find your self eating out pretty much every night. The entertainment in the hotel was very Hi-De-Hi which was to be expected as it's a family hotel, but there could have been extra thought put into the entertainment for adults. Overall a bad experience in this hotel, have complained to Thomas Cook and the hotel directly, please do not believe the reviews that say this is a fantastic hotel i went with an open mind and tried to find good points with my experience but struggled to do so. I have also read reviews that state this is on par to a 5 star hotel, it's barely a three star to be honest. Trust me, I wouldn't usually write a review but I feel like I have to warn you about this hotel, if we hadn't have had the money off it would have been close to £2000 for this hotel, which is ludicrous. Well went to PlayaOlid 11 days ago with my wife and 4 grown up children not really knowing what to expect, I was amazingly surprised had the best holiday ever so here is my review. Reception staff very pleasant always helpful. The restaurant manager was always friendly towards us. Restaurant was excellent me and the kids normally bored after 5 days but during an 11 night stay food was excellent different style every night, Asian, Mexican, international, Italian, to name a few. All the staff were very friendly but sometimes over eager to take your plate but never offensive. The entertain team were very good and interacted with all guests, but a special mention to STEFFAN who entertained all with card tricks, singing and a general friendliness to us. ELIZA was excellent as well taking daytime and nighttime activities, getting all involved and was an excellent presenter. The whole team put on shows to entertain the young and old and encouraged all to take part. The hotel also had a hypnotherapist twice during our stay, he was family friendly and the second week my daughter took part and it was so funny. James Anthony was so good he was a lot better than others I have seen. The bar staff was very good but a special mention to my family's to favourites PIXTI and YSMEAL so entertaining and amused us with their banter and also kept are drinks full. There was plenty of sun beds and the pool activities were good they also have a sun terrace above the pool were sun beds were also available. Room cleaned every day apart from Thursday Sunday rooms were on 5th floor so a bit of a trek but lifts were pretty reliable. Dr on site every morning which I needed due to blisters. We also had free Siam park tickets went three times what a place. Best 11 days holiday ever will try to get back in the future Thank you to all the staff and management Collapse

We stayed here as a family of 3 for 10 nights. There are some aspects of the hotel that were wonderful. The staff demeanour and attitude towards us was brilliant. They all made an extra effort to get to know us and to entertain our one year old. The rooms were cleaned every day except Thursdays and Sundays. We were given fresh towels and sheets every day - the whole hotel was immaculate. Despite these points we wouldn't return. The food has a different theme each night which is a good idea as we never seen the same theme two nights the entire time we were there. But even so the food was a bit repetitive. We found ourselves eating out at least half of the holiday to avoid chips and chicken legs. The hotel is so huge in comparison to the restaurant that there was always a lengthy wait too. We had read that the soft drinks were awful and they really were undrinkable. The biggest let down for us and the reason for our no return is the layout and entertainment of the hotel. Going all inclusive we expected to have a few drinks in the hotel after tea with some entertainment. However again we went out every evening and spent as much money as we would have self catering. The millennium bar where the entertainment is on is like a dark concert room with a small staged area at the front. Hard to get to and from the bar. Other than this room there is no entertainment and the only other places to sit is a small outside area hidden underneath the hotel and on a main road or reception! The reception area has loads of seating but no music or anything and certainly not where you want to spend your evenings on holiday. Our little one fell asleep before the mini disco most nights which meant until 10pm when the adult entertainment came on we were sat in reception. Hence the reason we went out every night. Didn't use our all inclusive at all and are thankful we had money spare to spend or the holiday would have been ruined. Through the day there are only the pool bars serving drinks and no where to get a coffee before 10am other than the restaurant so take your own if you like one on the balcony. Lots of amenities close by but the hotel is up a hefty hill. Stayed in all inclusive hotels just around the corner from playa olid and would return to one of those in future rather than returning to playa olid. Collapse
