I like you, read through the reviews trying to work out if Playa Olid was worth going to. For us we booked it as a last minute break away. It’s not going to be our main holiday so we didn’t place too much importance on it being faultless. We decided to upgrade to a suite. Pros of this is your safe hire, WiFi and air con are included. You also get a coffee machine. There is a jacuzzi bath too. They’re newly built also. And although we were on the 5th floor the suites have lifts to them. However you only get a microwave and a mini bar in the suites and not a dining table and full equipment like in the apartments. That wasn’t a problem for us though. We were pleasantly surprised to have Pepsi, water, Fanta, beer and Capri suns and four boxes of Pringles in our mini bar complimentary. Once you use them they don’t get restocked. But that’s fine as it makes room for your own things. We were in room 1501 which was right next to a main road and v noisy. Horns constantly beeping but mainly noticed that in the front bedroom where the kids were and on the balcony. Place was clean enough. I’ve been on 3*, 4* and 5* holidays before. So I feel I can give a balanced review for people. I would say the food is average. We found breakfast great - pancakes, cooked things, but the pastries were very stale. Loads of fresh salads at meal times and always at least one thing worth eating. I was at no risk of putting too much weight on as there wasn’t too much I fancied eating. The puddings I have to say were amazing and definitely a highlight. Coffee wasn’t great but ok for a holiday. We have v fussy kids who towards the end of the holiday could only eat chips! The pool bar offered nuggets, burgers and pizza. And chips of course. The pizzas were just pre made bases with cheese. No tomato. And generally burnt! For us though we decided that we would eat out a few times. The blue cactus at the beach was great value with a set menu for 9.95 for three courses. 2.50 Euro for a beer. Lovely music entertainment on an evening. Drinks were not great. Gin and tonic was awful - totally flat tonic. But beer and cava and wine were great. We booked Thomas cook including Siam water park. This was absolutely phenomenal. I’ve never seen such a clean pool and facilities. The kids had hours of fun and we went four days out of seven. Free shuttle bus goes from five mins away. Every half hour. Food is reasonably priced there and you can take your own water in. I’d recommend that as drinks can bump up the money you spend. The hotel pool was ok. One was heated. Our kids still wore wet suits though as we had a bad week with about 80% cloud. The people at the pool and in the hotel let it down. It was a bit cliquey with big groups of kids joining forces to continually harass other kids! So we didn’t really spend much time there. The Thomas cook guys were great. Full of energy and put on a family friendly collection of day and night time activities. Totally optional and not in your face. So for us, if the weather had been better it would have been great. As we just wanted a base to be able to go out and see the sights. If I had stayed in the complex I’d have gone stir crazy! It became a bit like butlins abroad at times. If you want a break though and don’t want to pay a fortune this place is more than adequate. I’ve never had such big rooms. And I’ve stayed in a lot of places. And the tv has bbc1 and bbc2 and itv as stations. So if you take it for what it is. Better weather than uk. A break from thecooking and not gourmet food then it’s worth booking. Collapse

Hotel/Apartments/suites are nice ,the suites having a hot tub bath inside the rooms. Went with my two kids .1 of the pools are heated and the weather was hitting 80 degrees in Feb. The hotel itself is generally clean and staff are very friendly towards you. The Layout of the restaurant has a lot to be desired .Morning breakfast was a circus act .everyone looking for the drinks machines .which could be signed so people are not crossing each other all the time. Breakfast was average and well tables were not emptied the 3 times we went in .This started me going to the local Irish pub were you got a decent start to the day with a decent fry up if thats what y9u like. The shop attached to the hotel is good with a 20% Discount for Olid clients. The pool bar was decent. The beverages are a standard Spanish dram(lots of it) The burgers are actually fresh to order and are tasty. A selection of salad and fruit boxes are available too with tea and coffee....a lot of British and Irish there .Very friendly with kids activities at pool ....I would recommend 9/10 Collapse
