Our first visit to Cornwall and sure it will not be our last the county is brilliant lots to do wether you are single couples or a family. The Penventon hotel came as a recommendation from dog friendly magazine and it didn’t disappoint. We booked a garden room as we had Molly with us and these are the rooms you have if you have a dog. They all have patios leading onto a garden area through sliding patio doors. We stayed in room 165 and it was great as led to a fire exit gate right on the car park so luggage etc was a doddle to bring into the room. Room was well appointed with massive luggage case full of goodies some free others not that expensive as other hotels we have stayed in. Bathroom huge shower over bath so so but did the trick. Food very good and bar food just as good we eat in restaurant on two occasions very good selection. Breakfast good selection sausages though awful sorry hotel you need to change far too spicy for breakfast but lots more to choose. Staff and service excellent nothing too much trouble and chatty without being intrusive creating nice atmosphere. Dogs made a fuss off and you can book your table in the bar area if you want to have a restaurant meal/ breakfast staff will put out bowls and you can bring down a bed etc. Otherwise dogs can eat with you if you are just having a bar meal. Hotel is well placed for most attractions which are 20-30 mins away. So why not 5 stars well it’s only just missed our five stars because outside is looking a bit tired in places decoration etc and some of the hallways are also the same. Finally if you like eclectic taste in decoration this is the place some of it is well very strange but not offensive just very very eclectic. Collapse

We checked into the Penventon on our cycling tour of Cornwall. When we arrived we were able to store our bikes securely which was important to us. We then proceeded to have a lovely cream tea and then treatment at the spa. Ellie was great although the spa room was small and a little dated. The room was comfortable and clean if a little dated. The food was excellent, however the service was extremely slow as we waited an hour and a half for our dinner to arrive, at which point I was falling asleep as we had cycled for 6 hours in the day. We did however get lots of apologies, so can only assume this was not the norm. Collapse

What a lovely day! From entering the hotel in the morning we were shown down to the spa area by a helpful lady on reception. I can't fault any of the staff...on arrival in the spa everyone was very helpful and friendly. My sister in law and I had treatments booked one after another from 12.30 and we wanted to have lunch at 12 before we had our treatments...the staff went out of there way to make sure we could pre order and have lunch served to us at 12 bearing in mind they didnt start serving until then (food was delicious). The facilities are plentiful...they have a pool, gym, small jacuzzi, and 2 saunas but all of these could do with a bit of a "facelift". I have worked in and been to so many spas in the past and feel like it wouldn't take a lot to invest in some decent loungers and table and chairs. Also maybe take the pointless canopys down and just paint the ceiling white. changing rooms also need improving. Having said all of this many of the top modern spas I have been to in the past do not have the level of customer care that we experienced in the spa which I feel like is one of the most important parts of having a day at the spa. I also couldnt fault the cleanliness of the spa area. Then it was time for our treatment. The hotel only has 2 treatment rooms and it is quite a small area for them to work from but I had a lovely therapist called Ellie who was very professional and quite obviously very good at her job. Being a therapist of 15 years myself I was very impressed with the standard of treatment and knowledge, she had a lovely touch and the Caudalie products felt devine on my skin. I even came away with a couple Caudalie treats for myself! Overall I would definitely recommend spending the day relaxing with your besties, having some nice food and treating yourself to a treatment! Collapse
