I was travelling solo on holiday, meeting other friends. Check in was efficient and the concierge was very helpful in finding my baggage which Emirates Airlones decided to leave in Dubai. The room was clean and spacious. In the lobby, the barman was a touch pushy but otherwise friendly. My big bone of contention though is the restaurant. On my first night, I dined in and selected two courses, a starter and a main. They brought both courses together! On another evening I visited the de luxe restaurant on the 22nd floor, but it was still the same menu. There was a sauce listed on one of the meals and they couldn't be Elle me what it was, nor could they be bothered to find out. Now if those experiences weren't bad enough, breakfast was even worse. Utter mayhem. People walking about in every direction trying to load food onto their plates. Often when I got up to get another coffee or something, when I got back my table had been cleared or somebody else was sitting there. Much of the food that was meant to be hot was cold. It felt like trying to eat breakfast in an underground metro station Collapse

The housekeeping at this hotel is the worst I've encountered world-wide. Worse than a motel. We requested for our bed to be made. One hour later, a guy came in and threw the sheets on our bed and quickly left before we could say anything. We were so dumbfounded we didn't get to speak to him. We considered just doing the sheets ourselves since we were tired and didn't want to wait anymore. What threw us off was that the sheet he dropped off had BLOOD STAINS on it! GROSS. To make things worse, the phone in the room was not working. We had to go down to the lobby each time. Considering we are staying one more night, we figured there was no need to ask for maintenance service since we wanted to wind down and not be disrupted for the night. When we walked down to the lobby for the third time to let them know about the stained bed sheets, they called someone up our room to change it. This time he hesitantly changed our sheets, but he THREW our blanket on the GROUND on top of our shoes that we've been walking on all day...then back on the bed after the sheets had been changed. Mind you there were plenty of desk space, chairs, etc that he could've placed the blanket on. Honestly, a motel could provide better housekeeping service than that. Very disappointed in this establishment and would not recommend to anyone. There are plenty of other hotels in Singapore that we wish we would've booked. Collapse

Hotel is ok. Good for the price, room decent enough but bathroom was tired with mould. Big building site happening next door so be aware . When checking in we were asked if we'd like breakfast and we were told where the restaurant was and to give them our room number. ( to be charged ) When checking out at 6am they wanted to charge us for breakfast for that day.... even though clearly we were not going to be eating as we had a flight to catch and the fact it wasn't even open yet.I was told that I signed when checking in ( after a long flight ... tired.... and it wasn't explained to me clearly ) I was told tough because I signed and that I should have told them sooner. Well I didn't think it would be an issue and didn't think that they are cheeky enough to charge when they know we aren't eating it. After having words and advising them I had read reviews on their customer service not being good , which is true she suddenly didn't charge me for it. For this reason I would never want to come back it was an unpleasant way to end the stay. Collapse
Great price/location ratio, but best to avoid weekend check-ins

After two stays I can firmly say that this is my go-to place in Singapore. The Peninsula Excelsior's location is nothing short of strategic, being a stone throw's away from several malls and museums - the National Gallery is two blocks away, the Perenakan Museum just around the corner, while a 15-minute stroll will bring you up Fort Canning and the National Museum that sits on one of its bluffs. Shoppers are even more spoiled, as the always-packed Raffles City and Suntec City shopping centres (plus every other mall in between) is accessible by foot. Plus there is the important MRT junction of City Hall that gives you direct rail connections to Orchard Road, Marina Bay, and the hipster enclave of Tiong Bahru. Accommodation-wise the cavernous and darkly-lit halls give way to fully functional rooms that must have been recently-furbished, their decor more contemporary than the hotel's age would suggest. These veer on the small side, but only first-time visitors unfamiliar with Singapore are likely to take issue. The bathrooms are particularly worthy of note, as their clear glass partitions allow for an unencumbered view of the television as well as the outside scenery (in my case the Marina Bay Sands landmark on one occasion and the grass-covered knoll of Fort Canning on the other). What the hotel gets so right about its location and price also accounts for its one major drawback: the massive crowds you are likely to encounter, particularly when checking in on a Friday or Saturday. The ground floor lobby is particular unappetising, looking more like a refugee camp with its mounds of suitcases and the thickets of lymphatic mainland Chinese tourists waiting for their pick-up. There is no escaping the fact that the Peninsular Excelsior's staff tend to carry a harried look about them; they are also prone to outbursts of gruffness that makes one momentarily mistake this for Hong Kong. Will definitely be returning. Collapse

Great stopover with Singapore Airlines at cheaper rate and took advantage of upgrade to Club for free canapés and drinks. We also were treated to great view of fireworks at Marina Bay Sands. Room was very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended.
