Stayed in Park Inn, Alexanderplatz. Very clean and organised hotel - good location. Only disappointment was when we ate one evening in the dining room and some staff didn't look happy in their work. There was a fire alarm one evening and the hotel was evacuated. I am only too pleased that it turned out to be a faulty sensor in the kitchen, because the procedure and staff's response was well below that expected. Public transport great for getting around. We purchased Berlin Welcome cards, which included all public transport and between 20 & 25% discounts on sightseeing attractions, restaurants and much more. If you want to visit the Reichtag, you may need to book beforehand at busy periods and a photo ID is required. River cruise (25% off because of Berlin Welcome card) is so relaxing and informative. The tourist Information in our hotel was excellent, with extremely pleasant and helpful staff. If you are unable to speak German, don't worry. The majority of the people we came in contact spoke English (as well as other languages). It can be a tiring city to visit, as there is so much to see. However, the landscape is flat, there are plenty of coffee shops to take refuge and the public transport is really good. Collapse

We spent 3 nights with a group. I’ll give the positives first. Room spotless, comfortable mattress but it felt cramped. Breakfast average but reasonable given the room price. The woman greeting at breakfast appeared to be Stasi trained. No smile and looking as if she was on checkpoint duty. The staff in the restaurant were highly efficient and needed to be to cope with throughput Lifts in the morning could leave you waiting 10 minutes. The only stairs are the fire escapes which I used and honestly doubt they are wide enough to provide safe evacuation for such a big place: 30 floors. Reception staff first class. This is presumably the bargain basement of Radisson organisation. It works but like Ryan Air you’re glad when its over Collapse
