We stayed in this hotel for a week from 9 April 2018. This hotel is rated at 4*, I would say it is probably around 3*. The good points are its excellent location, very comfortable beds, very clean. The bad points are BE WARE there is a compulsory $35 plus tax charge per room per night for the complimentary services that we did not want to use, so the price we paid worked out around $500 more than advertised online by Hotels.com; very tired drab décor, all gloomy grey and brown colours (not a modern take on those, but closer to the 1980s), not powerful showers but they seem to have been refurbished, so are clean. The customer service is rubbish in practice but excellent in words. We wanted to change the location of our interconnecting rooms as we had a noisy bin lorry under the windows throughout the night (although we were on 11 floor, the windows are not very well insulated so can hear everything) ,so asked if anything can be done, the manager on the front desk offered to change our rooms to the opposite side of the hotel. We specifically asked if it would be possible to have interconnecting rooms (we had children with us) and not be near the lifts. So after spending an hour packing and waiting for new keys we were told our new rooms were ready, imagine our surprise when we found out that the rooms were not interconnecting, one was near the lifts and the other on the exactly the same side of the building as the original rooms and both on the lower floor, so closer to the lorry! We then spend 30 min more unpacking in our original rooms and were wondering what the manager was thinking in offering to change the rooms and offering exactly what we did not want! A waste of 2 hours of the evening. Overall a disappointing hotel as it is definitely not 4 stars and the additional compulsory charge was a real turn off. Collapse

I haven't been writing many reviews lately unless the hotel left a great or bad impression. This was the latter, Going to be as concise as one can be. Pros: Location - that's it! Cons: 1. Check-in is at 4pm. This is unheard of. I've never experienced any hotel in the world that has a 4pm check-in time. I tried checking in at 2p and 3p, my room wasn't ready. Was ready by 3:45pm. 2. Rooms are OK, at least mine was. However, I did not get any sun whatsoever during my 4-night stay. The closet has no light. Rooms are very small. 3. On the day of check out, I called at 8am for a late checkout, they said they'll let front desk call me back to confirm. They never did. I called back at 9am, and they told me the same thing. They never called back. I called back at 9:45am and complained, they apologized saying they can't give me a late check out. So after waiting for almost 2 hours, I still couldn't get a late checkout. I explained how bad their service was, so they gave me a checkout till 1pm. So so generous of them. Class "A" Thieves: 1. First day at the hotel, I asked guest services if I can ship packages to the hotel and they said yes. I asked if they charged, they told me it was free. (This can be verified with their phone records as all phone calls are recorded). Upon checkout, I was charged $30 storage fee. I had 3 packages come in, and it turns out they charge $10 per package. Again, I've never seen this done by any hotel whatsoever. We went back and forth about the charges for a good 5 minutes and asked them if they could waive it, they were so adamant that they wont, and never did. 2. Resort fees. Beware. They charge you $35 + tax per day per night (excluding the room rate). 90% of people won't use 90% of what is associated with those fees. I clearly explained upon checkout that I was unaware of this and it should've been mentioned clearly upon check in, and see if they can (partially) waive it. But It's like watching paint dry, they are useless. I spoke to their guest services manager (forgot her name, of Asian descent), and she was probably one of the most useless individuals I have ever came across, in the likes of which, I've never seen before. I came to find out that my friend stayed in the hotel next to Park Central who also had similar resort fees but they were nice enough to give him a one-time waiver as he was unaware of them. I paid almost $200 for resort fees and storage fees extra upon checkout. Never experienced such thing. I hope whoever reads this change their minds about staying there. I am more than willing to provide info about other hotels around the same area. Just please stay away from this. Collapse

The Good:- >Location, Location and Location. 5mins walk to Times Square >Pleasantly smelling Lobby >Great welcoming Bell team >Interactive Guest Request App The Ugly:- >I am Hospitality professional and that was the worst check in ever. Lady at the desk was unwelcoming and even though I booked through Tripadvisor, we were treated as if we got an undeserving free night. We were given 2 double beds and the alternative was "to wait and try our luck". She said that. >Room was decent in size, however, had a wall (bigger than the one between Mexico and USA) dividing the two beds. >Literally there were dust bunnies along the edges on skirting which implies either Management does not round or does not care. Pathetic room and cleanliness. Disgusting, as I could only imagine what grows inside AC grills and filter. Overall:- Stay in a different hotel, even Air BnB but definitely not this hotel if you need your money worth and want a clean room to stay in. I have lived and stayed in 3 different continents and this was possibly the worst hotel stay ever. Collapse
Poor service, dirty room, expect elevator delays

It is hard for me to write such an awful review of an NYC hotel as I used to be part of the management team at an NYC hotel. I know that at times, it is hard to keep up an impeccable level of service when managing a large staff that serves hundreds of rooms. However, this hotel has left me and my family impressed at how bad our overall experience was. From reception to our room to the disrespectful and dismissive manner of the manager on duty, I genuinely felt that they were trying to make our stay as bad as it was. First, when we arrived with our reservation, they told us that we had to pay a resort fee of $35 per night. When my husband asked what was the fee for, the agent said he wasn't even sure. When we tried to take the elevator, we didn't know how to use it, it would have been appropriate if someone explained this, but no big deal, we figured it out and brushed it off. The room. WOW!!! Nasty is not enough to describe, endless stains on the carpet, the walls, paint peeling off, the toilet paper holder was broken, the phone only worked on speaker mode. UNSAFE! We had our two little kids with us and they like to explore drawers, to their surprise, the drawers very easily come off to the floor towards their precious feet, not one, three of them! (make sure to scroll through the pictures on their profile, only the nice ones show up first, I guess paying yelp a monthly fee to enhance their profile goes a long way!). Even more disgusting: when we came back from our day out, I found a nasty smelly wet rag under our clothes. Obviously not ours. TWICE I had to use the stairs all the way up to 7th floor due to their failing elevator system. One morning we got stuck trying to go down to start our day and ended up waiting 30 min for the elevator (which never came). I had to use the stairs all the way down to ask for help, since I've worked in hotels I knew they must have service elevators, however, the "manager" apologized and said there was nothing they could do, she quickly blamed a guest for "pushing the wrong button and breaking the elevator " and proceeded to tell me it was gonna be 30-40 min before it was fixed and suggested we took the stairs with our two little kids and their stroller. Her manner that day was arrogant and I felt that she was very annoyed with my observations. After I ran back all the way upstairs to get my kids and husband, there was another family waiting for the elevator. Luckily, there was a staff member who overheard our situation and offered to let us use the service elevator, it was appalling to me that he quickly figured out what to do vs. his manager. The next morning I looked for the hotel manager again and tried to explain in very simple and friendly words our disappointment with the service and room. At first, her manner was again rather serious and non-empathetic, until I showed her pictures of the nasty rag we found and the drawers that easily come off potentially injuring our kids. At that point, she became very friendly, she offered a room upgrade, free breakfast, and to waive the resort fee. We didn't want to change rooms because it was more of a pain with our stuff and the kids than it was worth it, we didn't want to eat breakfast there, and she only waved 2 days worth of the resort fee instead of 3 as she said she would. When I mentioned that when we booked we weren't aware of the resort fee and kind of room we'd get, I explained we did it through Hoteltonight.com, to which she had the need to mention 3 TIMES that they had the lowest rates around. To this, I responded "do you mean that we paid for what we got?", of course, she denied it, but it was well implied. So yes, we got a cheaper rate, we still spent about $600 for 3 nights at this hotel, and we felt it wasn't worth it. These rooms are supposed to be $400 per night rooms, how do they get away with this is beyond me. Please save yourself the frustration and the extra few bucks and book elsewhere. Collapse
Total dump. Rooms are disgusting and service is terrible.

We had a very poor experience at this hotel. The furniture was all stained, the elevators were among the worst I have encountered (multiple other people said this as well, as we were stuck for 15 minutes at a time waiting), the drawers fell out of the dressers, nearly injuring my children on numerous occasions, a manager was extremely rude to my wife, and the molding/trim in the rooms looks like it was installed by Freddy Krueger. We also found a wet and dirty rag amongst our clothes. I do not know if housekeeping was going through our stuff or what...but this was pretty disturbing. Collapse
