We stay in room 301 with nice view but it's the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. A terrible shower with very low water pressure in it and a water dripping on the floor because the glass shield does not really do the work. Room is too small for 2 people with 2 suitcases. Breakfast:Coffee cappuccino or any other coffee that is not regular filter coffee can be obtained only at an additional charge. Bacon, sausages, eggs, beans in tomato all dry. We have had a lot of breakfast in better bed and breakfast ! I was in many five star hotels in Prage but this one is my big disappointment. Why to pay more and get less. Hotel managers need to wake up before they lose all their customers and that will happen very quickly. In the same building hotel KING COURT or 200 meters away hotels like IMPERIAL at least two levels above ,both in quality and in service. Collapse

It's not quite easy to review Paris Hotel. Reputation and consequent values - and prices - are based on the venue itself. Relying on being one of the old luxury hotels of "la belle epoque" (100 years ago), located at the perfect spot beside Obecni Dum in the very heart of Stare Mesto (old town), riding on the prominent Art Deco style of Prague, the true essence of delivering five stars is obscured a bit by these facts. Hotel Paris can in no way compete with a genuine five star hotel when it comes to impeccable service, feeling for the "perfect touch" or upholding the spirit to rise and compete with the more ambitious hotels. Hotel Paris leans too much on its heritance and since long established "hardware" - mainly the building itself. This is not enough to earn five stars. A tired feeling of being just too safe with self esteem doesn't deliver the type of service five star hotel guests are (could be) used to. Service is, by the best, correct and friendly. Well, one incident in the Café de paris (the bar/cafeteria/small restaurant: five o'clock in the afternoon we walked in for a drink. A handful of people in the room. We sat down in a sofa and the waiter approached us with the comment: "ehh... you are two people and this is the largest table int the bar.." We replied: "are you expecting a crowd?". Answer: "no, but ... perhaps... could you move to a smaller table". No further comment is needed to verify that we are not in a five star establishment. We had a standard room, which is called "Deluxe room". Nothing wrong - nice in all respects, complete with a sofa and a small table. Amenities ok. Still, these rooms are on the fifth floor and the hot water has really problems reaching the fifth floor. That means a shower is, besides the low water pressure, an experience in constantly fluctuating water temperatures: one moment burning hot, a few seconds later freezing cold. Beds quite ok with pillows you have to wrestle a bit to tame. Street rather busy with a lot of noise. Opening the windows for the night not recommended. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant - the "Sarah Bernhard restaurant". Really opulent - nothing is missing. Excellent range of everything, including varieties of eggs (omelettes made to choice on the spot). Coffee weak - mabye ok for US guests, but by European standard brown water. Quick and kind service. Cleaning also excellent. Although with sometimes impatient maids, pushing you to leave your room to be able to clean. Well - better that than the opposite situation. Hote Paris is not cheap. On the contrary, it is quite expensive in any comparison internationally. Which means quite huge in comparison to the general standard of costs in the Czech republic. With that in consideration I would say this hotel is not worth the prices. Sure, you pay for the location, the history and the rather beautiful and fairly renovated and kept Art Noveau style. But it sums up to being just too expensive, because the service level is not up to par with the architecture. Collapse

This pristine Art Deco hotel is truly gorgeous and the location is terrific - our beautifully decorated room and bathroom were huge and truly luxurious. The cozy hotel bar cafe is wonderfully atmospheric and tasty. it's all costly, but worth the splurge if you don't mind the following three caveats. First, given the price, we were taken aback to be charged extra at the included breakfast for any kind of coffee other than basic brewed. What Europeans themselves typically drink - espresso, latte, cappuccino, etc. - entails an extra charge. Every one of the more moderately priced hotels where breakfast is included provided endless cups of any kind of coffee at no charge. Second, while the front desk staff was excruciatingly polite, they were unable or unwilling to provide us with information about the city. The Hotel Paris is literally around the corner from a major concert venue, yet the staffer we consulted said he didn't know what was on stage that night or that week - nor did he make any move to look up the schedule for us. Several other times we sought guidance we came away empty handed. Nor is there any information about Vienna provided in the room, other than a glossy book of photos of the city that's available for purchase. (the housekeeping staff, on the other hand, were wonderful) Finally, the hotel bombards guests from the moment of their arrival with promotions for the high-end cosmetic surgery (or "aesthetic medicine") clinic it owns across the street. There's a non-stop video playing next to the checkin desk and in our room, the second of the only two publications provided about Vienna was a glossy photo book of "after" photos and testimonials from some of the clinic's extremely good looking patients. All in all though, we're still glad we stayed there. Collapse
