This is a small, conveniently located hotel in a lovely part of the city. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The room is small but about what you would expect in an urban European setting for this price. My room on the 7th floor had a great view of the surrounding area. Be aware that the only toiletries provided are a shower cap and two wall dispensers of hair/shower gel. It wasn't a problem for me, but might be something other travelers would like to know. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom and a heated towel rack. I only stayed one night, with a late check in and an early check out, so the two issues I had may not apply to every guest. First of all the wifi signal was incredibly weak and/or spotty, but it didn't matter to me because of my short stay. Also, there was an extreme variation in the water pressure during my shower in the morning. Again, since I was in a hurry and I was checking out I didn't report it, and maybe it was a one time thing. I didn't have breakfast either but what I saw, as I waited for my cab, seemed about what you would expect for the 15 Euro price tag. At check out the desk clerk offered me a coffee while I waited for my cab, which I thought was nice. So, if you are looking for a great location in a friendly no frills setting, this is an excellent choice. Collapse

Not even sure where to begin in terms of sharing our (dreadful) experience at this property last week. We booked at the Pantone Hotel after reading some mentions of it in both the New Yorker and the New York Times, so we were beyond surprised to find this property so disappointing. Upon our arrival, we were "greeted" by one of the surliest innkeepers ever. He barely made eye contact, never attempted a proper "welcome to our hotel". We should have taken our cue from that moment. We asked for some help with our bags which he ignored. So, we hauled our luggage up to our room only to find that it was so not ready for any type of guests. Incredibly dirty from the entry straight on through. Dirt spots on the walls, hair on the curtains. Hair on the bedspreads. Hair all clumped into the black shag rug. And, the room temperature was stuck on about 85 degrees with no windows! I felt like crying. Instead, I politely called down to the "front desk" twice to inquire about possibly lowering the temperature and being moved to another room. Both calls were met with a firm "no". Incredibly unprofessional! Given the conditions of the room, we did not dare to unpack a thing, or sit on the furniture. So, we quickly elected to look into alternate accommodations which we thankfully found at the Hotel Amigo in a much better location. At this point we went down to the lobby to inform this gentleman (and a young girl also) behind the "front desk". Not sure if I have ever been treated more rudely by a service professional. Especially when I was the only guest in the lobby at the time! After explaining our plans, the two whispered for a bit, punched a number of keys on their computer, ignored me, etc. This went on for a good five minutes. No exaggeration! Finally, the gentleman looked up from whatever he was doing (again no eye contact), and had the audacity to say, "so how will you pay for this room?". Rather than argue with him, we simply moved on from this disaster of an inn. He is now arguing with AMEX over the one nigh stay that never happened. Good luck with that... In summary, beware of this property. If you are a student looking for a tired youth hostel, this might be a good match. We saw several caravans of kids pouring into the lobby upon our check-in. However, if you are are looking for a smile, a "hello", and a clean pillow on which to rest your head, do not be fooled by the trending colors and gimmicky pantone concept. So not worth the aggravation! Collapse

Chocolates were always available on the front desk. I was a little disappointed that the safe didn't work and after I reported it, it still wasn't fixed. (I think it just needed a new battery.) Staff was very friendly. On-street parking at meters. Collapse
