Just come back from staying at the Millennium Hilton at UN Plaza for a week and would recommend the hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable and had nothing but pleasant interactions with the staff. We stayed on the 37th floor with great views into mid-town. The hotel is quite a way from public transport (Grand Central station is the closest subway station, which is ~6/7 blocks away) so you do have to walk a bit to get onto the subway. Also there is no free-wifi in the rooms, which I'd really expect these days, but a charge of $10/day for this. Only free wifi is in the lobby and very limited places to sit down and do very much. Overall though would recommend the hotel. Collapse

I have always stayed at this hotel for the last 10 years since it is in front of the UN. However, the service has deteriorated incredible since the Hilton assumed the management of it I stayed there 3 times since August (when the Hilton started managing it). This time I had the worst experience. I stayed for two nights. The second night at 1 am, my phone at the room was ringing and ringing. At some point I was so confused since I was completely slept. It was the reception who wanted to know if I am staying that night and if I can pay. I told them that it was not the right time to call. They said that they were trying to locate me the whole day. I responded that when I stayed at that hotel is because I had all day meetings at the UN. The next morning at 8:00, I went to speak to the manager to complain about the call. She said it is standard practice since we do not have a credit card for you. I told her that I have been a guess of that hotel for several years. She looked at it and said not I can not see you. Of course, I said I have never registered as a Hilton Honors. This is the first time since the hotel wanted to charge $ 14 dollars per night for internet connection if you are not a Hilton Honors client. I mentioned that to her and she said: "I was in Punta Cana and they charge me that". She does not have a sense of the tourism service sector. Hotels for business around the world offer free internet to attract clients. Punta Cana is a holiday destination. She was rude and she wanted me to pay since there was not credit card to guarantee my stay. I told her that I went to complain about the phone call by the reception desk at 1:00 am. And I was going to check out in 10 minutes since I was leaving to my meetings. I went to my room and went down again to checked out immediately and the bill was $255. I felt completely discriminated, treated as a criminal and offended since we have held several events in that hotel (now under Hilton) before. I am an old client of that hotel. There was no apologies for the call at 1:00 am. Only, I will talk to the person. This situation has never happened before. Hilton takes advantage charging your credit card for the whole amount prior to your stay plus $100 for anything else. The service is really bad: last time the room had dust in the tables, They do not change towels or put any toiletries The service at the restaurant is nice, And they were very accommodative to my food allergies. They were very careful and prepared my food to avoid any reactions. The concierges (the ones who take care of your luggage) are incredible as usual. These concierges have worked there for a long time. They even recognized me since I stay there so frequently. They are always very courteous, nice and provide the best client service. The staff at the reception needs training in client service and learn that not all the clients are criminals, They have to learn that clients will pay for the hotel room when they see that there is a corporate account who made the reservation. It was my worst experience in this hotel. I did not recommend it unless you have to be close to the UN for a meeting, Collapse

We had to wait on arrival (at 10 pm) because the room was not clean and to apologize, the receptionist offered us breakfast for the day after. Very appreciated. Collapse
