My Husband surprised me with a two night stay at this property this past week for Valentine’s Day. The hotel is located on the inter coastal & the ocean. It is a beautiful property. The $25 resort fee includes the pool and beach (towels , chairs , umbrella & water) as well as the use of bikes which we greatly enjoyed. There is a path behind the hotel where you can take a few mile ride along the beach. There is a nice fitness room as well . There is high end shopping , restaurants, a place to charter boats and other beaches close by. The driveway entrance is under some sort of construction which can make it tricky to get in and out but the staff is excellent in welcoming guests, keeping things moving and valet parking cars. The front desk staff was welcoming and accommodating but our room was not ready upon our arrival at 3pm which we later found interesting because this property was so quiet with a us not seeing many guests no matter what hour. The busiest place on the property was the valet area. We went to relax at the beach to wait for our room to be ready . The pool & beach area were very clean with attentive staff except for the first waiter we encountered at the beach. He may have been new ( not sure) but was not suited for the job. He was extremely slow and actually served us fruit with stickers on the plastic wrap that said use first and a date that it was prepared 3 days before. Ok at my Mother’s house not ok at the Ritz Carlton. We had a brief encounter with a different much more experienced waiter who was friendly and helpful and who seemed to be trying to help this guy but I am guessing to no avail. I want to be clear though that the other beach staff were friendly and extremely accommodating with chairs and an umbrella with no wait and great kindness. Hint - The beach and pool are closed down at 6pm with no night swimming. The hot tub is sometimes not available. No night life on property. The room was in the Atlantic tower with an elevator that served only 3 rooms. The room had an area with a large comfortable bed, a wet bar , a desk with a small table & chairs as well as a balcony overlooking the inter coastal and the beach. The bathroom had a wall of windows with a soaking tub and shower , a double sink and separate room with a toilet. The room was clean and truly beautiful. The tub with the view was definitely my favorite feature and watching the boats go by which included some impressive yachts. We also watched a dolphin frolicking on its way through the inter coastal. A hint is to definitely ask the bellman to show you the features of the room and to get you ice. We did not and had no idea there was a shade for the bathroom until the second day as well as other amenities. We were not escorted to the room by a bellman but perhaps a front desk staff. Not quite sure. The reason for 4 Stars was the service on the beach , the lack of ice or necessary instructions about the room and we had expensive not good room service on the last day. It was breakfast . The pancakes were almost inedible. Too thick with an odd taste. The eggs and potatoes were just ok. For the money they charge it should have been superb. However, this property is amazing with friendly accommodating staff & beautiful rooms . I won’t soon forget the time I spent there with my husband. We liked the quiet and found it to be very romantic. We greatly enjoyed our stay even with the small blips in comparison to the overall wonderful experience. Collapse

Let me start by saying that our overall experience was outstanding. From our early check in with Jonathan, who kindly upgraded us to a one bedroom suite that was GORGEOUS — to the incredibly attentive pool assistant, Daniel, our stay was lovely. The attention to service and detail was obvious almost everywhere and virtually without exception. I have stayed at many lovely properties over the years and can honestly say this room, with dual balconies and a bathroom that was incredible in both size and modern features, was absolutely one of the best ever. The hotel pool and beach area is also very nice, with great service, ample chairs, towels, umbrellas, and plenty of room! Our only disappointment was with the food service. We ate lunch at the pool our first day and even though we were the only people there, it took a long time. Seemed as if everyone there thought someone else was supposed to take care of us. When our food did arrive some of it was cold and they brought one wrong item for my husband. When we were finally able to flag them down, they said they would bring him the right side dish, but then disappeared for what felt like eternity. I was long finished and so was my husband by the time they returned. Server was apologetic and said the kitchen was a long ways away. He offered us free drinks, coffee, etc. and was very kind and accommodating, but we were tired of sitting there by then and just wanted to go on with the day. This morning we had a similar experience at breakfast in the main dining room. Things started out fine but then waiter completely disappeared. We waited patiently for a while and finally flagged someone down to get the check. We never did see the waiter again (but our Food was good and it was hot). The main thing I would alert travelers to if you are considering staying here is the location. We had originally hoped to stay in South Beach but the Ritz there was closed and we wanted to use points. We thought it would relatively easy to get back and forth with Uber. It was 35 minutes away, not including wait time (5-6 minutes) for Uber. There is always a certain amount of traffic on A1A, that is just the way it is. Also, while Bal Harbour Shoppes are nearby, they are a good solid 1 mile walk in each direction. That will get you to an enormous mall with Saks and Niemans, places you could visit anywhere in the US. If you are looking for a cute little village with fun shops and restaurants, downtown Bal Harbour is not it. We ate at a decent burger joint but it is otherwise unremarkable. In sum, the hotel is at the very end of a very busy road. It is a lovely location if you want to enjoy gorgeous scenery of beach and sea, but if you are interested in strolling among cute outdoor cafes or parks, or are looking for a social atmosphere such as south beach area generally, this is NOT the spot for you. There is zero nightlife here, and not much to do other than enjoy the beautiful pool and beach. Which, of course, is not a bad thing! One other point to note is that this is a residence first and a hotel second. Most of the people here seem to be residents, and most of the nicer vistas from the common areas are reserved for residents. The straight on ocean views are non-exist at for meals and drinks for hotel guests. The guest venues are still nice, but there is an entirely different vibe here as a result, as the residents appear to come first. You will not have a bad time here. It is lovely and we got great service from everyone, even the food servers were trying hard. But this is not south beach and has a completely different atmosphere, and the location is not convenient for several back and forth trips as we had hoped. If you want beauty peace and quiet though you have definitely come to the right place. Collapse

We spent two nights at the Bal Harbour Ritz Carlton. It's very special admmitedly we had an issue with the construction noise we heard in our room. When we reported it to the front desk the staff, especially Juliia Pudlyk did everything to solve the issue. The attention you get is unbelievable from water bottles to fruit to other amenities. The rooms and spacious and only two rooms on each floor. The pool and ocean areas are, spacious. The exhale spa is also very comfortable. Extra kudos to Juliia who looked after all our needs a d issues in a sweet and efficient manner. She was never giving you the typical answers that you get many times. She was so sincere and that made our stay so much more enjoyable. Collapse

Stayed here for a week - amazingly between the two hurricanes so got good weather. The hotel is well located within walking distance of Bal Shops and is a high class Hotel. It is right next to the beach and very accessible to the major roadways. The service was great - nothing was too much trouble. The concierge was super helpful as were the pool attendants. Even brought extra waters to a very thirsty family! The room was amazing - only 2 rooms to a floor so felt very exclusive. It was furnished to a very high standard and kitted out with all the mod cons you could want. View was pretty amazing even for “part sea view”! The pool area was excellent and a small bar / cafe was next to it so snacks and drinks were easy. The beach had sun loungers set up and you can request food and drinks as well. The benefit of this was covered in the Hotel daily service charge which you need to be cognisant of. Parking was simple and suggest when you need your car you phone a few minutes ahead. There is again a daily charge so make sure you take that into consideration. Food wise the quality was very good hotel standard. If I had a gripe it was the pricing was in the high side especially for breakfast. The gym was small but well equipped and the spa was lovely. They had a special offer of 3 treatments for price of 2 so would ask what deals they had when you’re there. Overall we have a fantastic stay although ended up spending a little more than we budgeted for - but hey it was worth it! Collapse
