Hotel was immaculately clean and check out at lunchtime was good. When my wife mentioned this trip was for my birthday, the lady receptionist offered a room upgrade on the 7th floor with a view of Madison Ave for $30 a night which we accepted.View was excellent. Our room was nice with a king size bed. Again the room was immaculate, but no tea or coffee making facilities which apparently is nothing new for U.S. hotels. (This was our first trip to the U.S.). Mini bar was empty and no water. Initially, we were under the impression that we could ask for a couple of bottles of water from reception when the water dispenser in the concierge area was empty but after a couple of days of asking, we were met with the reply from two separate receptionists of "I'll see if we have any left." and they came back with "This is the last one." Of course it was(!) We ate once at the hotel restaurant. We ordered steak and salmon. Both were incredibly salty and the wine very expensive. We got the impression that the hotel was aimed more at corporate customers than us tourists. On the eve of our departure, (we needed a cab at 5am for our flight), we were told by a friend that the main bridges would be closed. We checked at reception the afternoon before our departure and were told to see the concierge. On approaching him, we were greeted with a very disdainful look and dismissively told that "the bridges would be open and reception could have told us that". Personally, I did not really care of the internal politics between staff, all we were doing was making 100% sure we did not miss our flight! The door staff we were very polite and accommodating.Housekeeping staff kept our room absolutely immaculate. Thank you, ladies! xx Overall, a pleasant stay, but the jury is still out if we would stay there again, but thanks to the staff who made our trip worthwhile. Collapse
Very nice stay at the Omni Berkshire NYC

The hotel is in a very nice location. Within walking of Broadway and Central Park. Good restaurants nearby and high end shopping. The rooms are very nice but not luxurious. The service staff was excellent. I would stay there again.

I love this location, handy to everything and out of the crowds of the city. Rooms are clean, people are very friendly. I love the number of suites available, restaurant/bar are good, nice gym and outside space.

In all my years of staying in hotels...and being in NYC, I've never ever been actually asked for a tip !!!! Today it happened twice in the same hotel by the same employee! Perhaps he's not being paid as much as he thinks he's worth? My wife was trying to cross the street in front of the hotel...the doorman (this morning 5/9/18 7:55 AM ) offered to help her....however in the same sentence he asked her if she had her cash ready for the service....my wife thought he was kidding until she got on the other side and the doorman stood there, took out lot of cash and asked her if she needed change! She said no and walked away..... Later I about to leave the room and go have breakfast when I received a call from the doorman advising me that my limo was downstairs. I told him thank you , but the limo is early...He told me that he needs the room on the street and that I must come down now ! I guess the hotel doesn't care about not serving me breakfast and making money.....when I walked outside, he asked me the same question....if I have my cash ready or do I need change? I looked at him and kept walking....upon getting in the limo my driver told me that the doorman told him that he must come up wtth cash....he wasn't really parked in front of the hotel, he as up the block..! My driver didn't give him any cash either..! I had a meeting at a nearby 5 star hotel....the service from the doorman was night and day.....there is a difference!! The omni is nice....but it doesn't go the extra mile in any sense of the word....the employees are for the most part very matter of the fact...and the doormen have a lot of nerve.... ENOUGH SAID ! The Omni Berkshire Hotel is a kind of property that makes an effort, but just comes up a little short if you peel back the outside layers and see what is beneath the surface. I stayed recently with the wife and here was our experience: Pros: + The staff tried. They were friendly and made an effort to help out whenever they could. Cons: - I understand NYC is loud. You can't control what happens outside of the windows. But you can control how well the room is soundproofed, and when I can hear conversations in adjacent rooms, it is disappointing. - Details in a hotel like this matter. For example, when the cup that is in the bathroom is stained on the bottom, it bothers me. At a Holiday Inn, it is less of an issue, but the Omni is held to a higher standard. All in all, this is more of a 3.5 star property. Would I return? Probably not, given the plethora of choices in New York. Collapse
