I'm sat here at the pool on our final day a bit gutted our week holiday is over so quickly.... that's a compliment in itself. I can understand why this place isn't everyone's cup of tea. It's very basic, our room contains a bed, a working bath / shower (always warm water) and a cupboard in the wall to hang some clothes. It doesn't contain any tea making facilities, TV etc but we don't need any of that. We never spend any time in our room other than to sleep / get ready so we got on just fine. Our room was always cleaned except on a Sunday when the cleaner has a day off. Everyday we got fresh bed sheets, fresh towels and the room was left spotless. Mario and his family look after you, always pleasant and willing to answer any queries. I like the fact Mario often comes across quite manic because he's doing it all on his own but it means he cares. The new pool is spot on, plenty of sun beds. We only came down at a 11am today and the was still a selection of beds left. The pool areas very quiet, no blaring music and I think the lack of children's facilities discourages families attending this hotel.... as a young couple that's perfect for us but I don't think we'd come back if we had kids of our own. I can imagine it's tough keeping them entertained here all day. However, the sun and a good book is a perfect holiday for us. Location - couldn't be much better I don't think. The are bars either side of the hotel that both serve food. They're much of a muchness, both family owned by 2 very nice families that always make you welcome. We spent equal times in both. They're ideal for lunch, a quick pint on your way out or a night cap on your return. We personally wouldn't spend an evening in them, whilst they're pleasant there isn't any entertainment and the food menu is very much lunch led. You can get to the main square in about 3 minutes walking which is where you will find all the restaurants and bars. I'll review all them individually but as a top line a bad meal in Cala D'or is hard to find. Breakfast - mainly consisted of bread and bread. Eggs with toast, ham with toast or bacon with toast - all come with a side of a bread roll. We had breakfast out a couple of days but that's no issue. You can always get cereal and we seen breakfast as a bonus not a necessity. If Mario wants to throw some cornflakes and a slice of toast my way for free after the price we paid for to stay here (about £11 per night per person) then I'm more than game for that. Overall a basic, clean, family run hotel in a perfect location and we had no issues at all. My only feedback would be keep up the good work Mario and please consider a late room for people to get a shower. Our flight isn't until 21:40 and I'm not looking forward to my stand up wash in the toilets or alternatively getting on the plane like a slippery fish! See you next year! Keith and Dan x Collapse

We have just returned from this family run facility and it was brilliant. The hotel is family run and supports 3 generations. Magdalena (Owner/Grandmother) who is in her late 80's, still drives and does not wear a seatbelt. Apparently, she has had a good innings, so the risk is acceptable. Marie and Mario who along with Mario (Jnr) and his wife Marisa ensure the hotel functions. They are really friendly, approachable and willing to help you with whatever you need. We forgot an adapter - no problems they gave us one for our stay. There are pictures of the site dating from the 60's in the main entrance which show there were no other buildings around and everyone knows the hotel . We had a totally relaxing and chilled out holiday lasting two weeks, and once you get used to the idea that breakfast will be served to you individually at your table and may take a little longer it is quaint and quirky old fashioned service. The rooms are very clean, they are cleaned and the sheets changed daily. There is a new swimming pool and surprise you do not have to get up at stupid o'clock to get a sunbed, unlike other hotels in the area. The beach/sea are no more than 200 metres away and you can walk out for 100 metres and still see the sandy bottom. There are some rocks at either end of the beach if you do not like sitting on sand. You are 300/400 metres from the main shops/restaurants that serve a variety of different foods at reasonable prices (try Marfils). Alternatively, Maria makes a very tasty traditional home made Spanish Paella, but ensure you request it, as they need time to gather the fresh ingredients. If you are a fashonista and want sleek lines, stainless steel and glass, then this is not for you. However, if you want to sample traditional Spanish hospitality in a period setting then look no further. We slept with the windows and shutters wide open (apologies to any one looking) and got a coo, breeze from the sea and slept well on firm clean matrasses. This is a hidden treasure and it will doubtless disappear if the bigger hotels acquire the site. We really enjoyed our stay and will return Collapse

Drink Owner wishes you welcome,--that says a lot. The roms with a balcony on the 1st floor may be OK. But, if you are given any other room on the ground floor,-- find another place to stay. It is dangerous also due to mold and funger. No windows, -----nothing but a bed. Our holiday for 2017 was completely distroyed and our opinion of Cala D´Or was severely changed. Been there 3 times before. It is not possible to give a MINUS rating which would be appropriate. The Spanish health authorities would propably close the place. AND BE AWARE: THE OWNER AND HIS CLOSEST FAMILY OWNS MOST OF THE BUSINESSES IN THIS STREET. Collapse
