The Davenport was clean and it's in a good location for walking to sites like the National Gallery of Ireland, The Grand Masonic Lodge of Ireland, Trinity College and St. Stephens Green. But be aware that this is a historic building that was converted into a hotel. It's funishings are dated along with the baths. No washcloths are made available in rooms and service is less than friendly. But if you just need a clean spot to sleep, it will do. After our stay at Powers Court the days previous to the Davenport stay, we were disappointed. Collapse

The O’Callaghan Davenport Hotel was a great place to stay, located very conveniently to so many of the attractions of the city, particularly Merrion Square Park. But it also was close to Trinity College, as well as countless restaurants, pubs and cafes. (We particularly enjoyed our lunch and Guinesses at Kennedy’s pub right across the street , which was also the lively center of many Bloomsday festivities.) The hotel is in a safe neighborhood just a few minutes walk from the DART train line, which we took advantage of on our day trip to the seaside town of Howth. Our room was clean and pleasant, although not large. The room was fine, albeit a little in need of refreshment. The bathroom was also on the small side but the consistently excellent water pressure in the shower and bath made up for that. The lifts were quick and, surprisingly chatty. We had the buffet breakfast on a few mornings, which was very good. The bar area is comfortable as well and perhaps not surprisingly features a wide array of Irish Whiskey. Wifi worked well. Collapse

We have just returned home from our weekend visit to Dublin where we stayed in this hotel. Situated a short walk from a couple of lovely pubs & near to trinity collage where you can walk through to get to the main town & the temple area. The natural history museum is 100 yards away& the architectural museum, the park too is just down the road .. The reception staff were warm & friendly & informed us of places close by. Ordered us a cab for the airport trip. All were very nice .. Our room was very clean & towels & bedding washing products were changed daily . The room is in need of a bit of tlc the bathroom door handle was very loose & on the verge of coming off, the shower handle, is in a bath was broken, it worked but the cap on the handle fell off, the shower head was fixed & was not a " power shower" there were also a couple of broken floor tiles on the edge of the bathroom floor, that if trod on would be nasty.. but everything was clean. The room had air con & also an opening window. And a safe to use ( free) The beds were very comfortable & we had tea & coffee making & a small tv. We had the buffet breakfast one morning , which was okay, usual eggs bacon , diy toast , fruit , buns .. unless you are a big breakfast eater I wouldn't bother as you won't get value for money as it's not cheap. Overall we enjoyed our stay on the hotel and would go back if returning to Dublin .. Collapse

Very nice hotel , quieter part of town ( Merrion square) , beautiful big beds, big rooms , clean , good wifi , paid top price so expected good hotel and got it . Room was available when we arrived early which was great , didn't charge any extra to go in early . Was lovely . Had a fire alarm go off at 1130 pm , had to call front desk to ask what was going on .. ( apparently someone smoking in room ) . Thought someone would have contacted us to let us know !! What to do or what not to do ... otherwise was a nice stay . Collapse

My Wife and I stayed a week in Dublin at the Davenport hotel and were very pleased with it! The rooms were clean and very nice, and the location is great! easy walk to Grafton st, two parks, temple bar and all kinds of other attractions! The staff is also very helpful! Carlos, the night manager, is absolutely fantastic! He had a wealth of information and was an absolute pleasure to talk to! We will absolutely stay at this hotel again when we return to Dublin! Thank you Carlos, and the rest of the fantastic O'Callaghan Davenport staff, for helping my wife and I to have a fantastic honeymoon! Collapse
