Although the hotel was out of the city public transport was easy to use and very frequent. It was nice to come out of the hustle and bustle of the city after a long day. If I was going again for a short time I would try and stay more in the centre. See more

On a 9 day city break with an 11 yo and a 15yo who enjoy strolling, city sights, a pool and a beach. This is a great venue. Don't be put off by the map distance into the centre. Facilities ( bars and restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket, tram) are all nearby. The tram is a 5 minute stroll from the hotel, is very regular and it takes 15 mins (about 7-8 stops, one of which is VERY CLOSE to Camp Nou, the Barcelona Football ground) to get to the stop where you can jump onto the Metro - a further 15-20mins (about 7-8 stops) into the city, placing you at the bottom of the approach to The Magic Fountains. The city is really accessible by metro. Most places are located close together so if you use the metro wisely you only need to get off once and can walk to most places easily. We went into the city by midday and didn't come back again until 10/11pm most nights. The hotel itself is clean, friendly helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is fine. Pool is a bonus. On the days we came back mid afternoon for a dip we found the local restaurants very reasonable and are again a short 2 min stroll from the hotel. Collapse
Four wonderful days in Barcelona

Nice hotel close to tram line T3 that is useful if you plan sightseeing by public transport in Barcelona. Room was very comfortable. That area is noisy because of the traffic but we could sleep with closed windows and air conditioning.

Since this hotel is only a 10 minutes walk away from out office in Barcelona, it´s the first choise to go to save time and money for a taxi. The rooms are fine and tidy, but could be renovated to some extend. Especially the bathrooms seem to have been renoved only half-hearted - parts are done well, but some parts in the same bathroom look very old and un-renovated. I´d not recommend this hotel for visitors who want to visit Barcelona city, because as some already mentioned: It´s about one hour ride by public transport - and parking in the city centre is a challange... What improves the judgement of this hotel: a friendly and helpfull staff, good quality in the restaurant and a very good breakfast. And not to forget the brilliant air conditioning: very silent and effective. Collapse

But after calling the staff, things improved. Collapse

Mom, Aunt, and adult daughter, that is a family of 3, is an unusual fit in European hotels. Novotel made it simpler than most and once we turned the a/c down to cold, we went right to sleep! There was some street noise that dissipated with tv noise on the 4th floor. The big, open, modern bathroom was clean, and the large, deep tub/shower combo was enjoyable but a bit dangerous to exit when wet. Lighting was helpful for makeup. Fair Trade ingredients in the shampoo was a great marketing tool for the 20-something, but how much fair trade sugar really matters in a shampoo? It smelled great! The beds were comfy and the first of 2 nights had a lollipop on each of the two 'twin' beds. Flat screen tv was nice, small and Barcelona has a couple of English speaking channels, bonus! The open armoire is easily accessed and hanging clothes air dried easily. In-room safe was by the door. Mini-fridge was barely cool but held leftovers when temp was rolled down. Prices were clearly labeled for candy, beer, water, and juices and in line for a mini-bar. There were some in-room plugs if you have your adapters. Elevators worked but were always full. Dogs appeared frequently. The pool was pretty. A trampoline outside and a Playstation for the children in the lobby. The reception staff spoke English but were dismissive and less than helpful. Returning to the desk after the key did not work, it was not an apology it was questioning our ability to use the hotel card key. Hmmm... Pushier guests are served prior to those in line. Public computers were 50% usable at only 20-minute increments after quite a few hoops. Not a help for us on limited data phone international phone plans! When one family made an error calling for a cab, staff had us to take their cab. We thought it a stroke of luck but it did not make sense at the time. Directions were difficult to get from staff. They would not fax for event tix, charged to weigh luggage, they would not print city attraction tix from computer for me or offer to help use the one working computer of theirs, they did not offer baggage assistance in the door, out the door, or to the room. There was a luggage storage room.Directions to the bus line were given once. "I have already given those directions," just landed wrong with all of us. Even with 2 night reservations, maid service knocked before 10 A.M. When I greeted them, toothbrush working away, they were extremely apologetic. By far, the maid service were the most professional staff members with a respectable air. A gas station is located adjacent to the hotel, not much else on the block but the bus line is within a short walk. I did not drive in and am unaware of parking issues. The bartender did give me ice cubes to take up to the room. The restaurant wait staff were slow and unprofessional and are reviewed separately. Collapse
