The lobby bar is nice and sophisticated and if you want something more you can go to the restaurant and bar which is in the building but not affiliated with hotel. Definitely recommend ! Collapse

Here for two nights on business and an unpleasant and surprisingly bad experience. First time, I do not think I will be back. My first night in a room on the 37th floor was underneath some type of mechanical room or elevator floor that created noise consistently all night long and could not sleep. The hotel was fully booked and they could not move me just offer some ear plugs that were sent up to my room after a twenty minutes delay late at night. The guest services agent also said they could turn off half of the elevators to reduce the noise, which was incorrect, which I learned only after calling again at 130am. The next morning there was quite a bit of confusion about whether they could move, when they could move me, where to move me to, etc. With a stressful work event that morning and afternoon I did not want to deal with their confusion. Eventually they moved me to the 24th floor, but only after a lengthy delay of someone coming to help with bags and give me my keys which I had to call a second time after a half hour wait for service. Second room was fine. Other observations - terrible service, staircase at reservation creates problems of dragging your bags up to the desk, lack of coffee in the room, a gym with strangely no windows and average equipment, extremely slippery and almost dangerous shower floor that ought to have a mat available. For a “luxury” brand you get a terrible experience, enjoy. Very irritated w Marriott/SPG at the moment. Collapse

This place is wonderful -- from the helpful bellman who open the front door, the great scent in the lobby and the amazing staff -- it is my new place to stay in the city. The location is perfect as it is close to everything, including the subway but not overrun with tourists like Times Square and mid-town. There is a lovely park across the street and the subway is two blocks away. The rooms are modern, with a lovely, furry throw for the cool nights. The bar is comfortable and has good drinks, pricy of course as it is NYC. I highly recommend this hotel for your next NYC stay. Collapse

This is the one. After staying in NYC for many years, and many times a year....this is our new " Hotel of Choice ", without a doubt. My partner and I have been looking for the right hotel, in the right location for us, with a staff that gets it right. We were staying there for a long weekend, the third weekend of April. A getaway from work for a few day in our favorite city. Arrived early that Friday and greeted enthusiastically and offered a wonderful room, with a great view. Bed was fantastic as was the bathroom. The hotel has clean lines, inviting lobby, and accommodating atmosphere and vibe. The elevator system is technologically advance and quite cool the way it operates. We were mostly impressed with the staff throughout the weekend, especially Aaron and Daniel at the Front Reception Desk. Great ambassadors of the brand, without a doubt. They took good care of us, multiple times, as did Louis, who initially took our reservation over the phone. A big thumbs us to the " whole experience " this hotel offers. We are Marriot Reward Members and happy to have this one, nailed down, for all our future stays ( actually flying back into the city in a few weeks )....can't wait to get back. Cheers ! Collapse

So my wife and I came here to celebrate my birthday in New York without the kids. We had read many great reviews about this hotel and overall, I would say it was a pretty decent experience. Here are the highlights. 1. Location, this location is perfect in Flatiron District because you can literally walk anywhere (assuming you are quasi fit and have the motivation to do so). 30 mins to Times Square, about 40 mins to Chinatown, 20 mins to high line. Alternatively, you can also hop on the subway and find your way around there or just get in a cab. Bottom line, great location 2. Views, we actually got upgraded to the 34th and had a ridiculously good view overlooking the flatiron building. It faced south west so it was absolutely gorgeous unimpeded views looking downtown and into New Jersey. Although it was really nice to be able to look outside, the downside is the windows weren't very clean so taking pictures was not as great. I know, its a small gripe but nonetheless, given those views, I wouldn't do it justice if I didn't at least try to get a few pics. 3. Staff, all of the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. I found the service to be impeccable and they were all very helpful. 4. Lounge, this place is bumping at night with a lot of nightlife. It almost seemed like a destination for local New Yorkers to come and hang out. I liked the vibe and it was pretty chill overall. 5. Rooms, unfortunately this is the one spot where I took the one star off. I've traveled around the world and these were some of the smallest 5 star upgraded rooms that I'd been in. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand the cost of real estate in New York, but as a 5 star venue, I would have expected slightly bigger. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were a decent size. But besides sleeping, I wouldn't have been able to spend any good chunk of time in the room. Which is fine, because you are in New York, so what the heck are you doing in your room anyways!!! I also get that this was built in 1909 and used to be the tallest building in the world, but being from Calgary, Canada the closest room sizes to this was the Fairmont Banff Springs built as a castle in 1888. This hotel was created in 2005, so I'm a little surprised to say the least. It is probably a very profitable hotel! Overall, would I stay here again? maybe, location was great but for the price paid, I might be tempted to try another 5 star venue to compare. Collapse
