The Messner Dependence consists of a group of historic buildings overlooking a small canal in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood of Venice, and just a few steps from the Salute water bus stop. It offers comfortably furnished rooms and a varied breakfast buffet. Around the corner, guests will find the Accademia art gallery and the Penny Guggenheim Museum. Across the nearby Grand Canal, you can travel by water bus to the famous Saint Mark’s Square or Santa Lucia Train Station.
All of the hotel rooms at the Messner Dependence come with satellite TV, safe, and a private bathroom with hairdryer. The majority of rooms have air conditioning and a number of rooms overlook the hotel’s garden or the canal.
After a busy day of exploring the varied sights of Venice, guests can visit the hotel’s bustling restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal and a fine glass of wine. The main hotel building provides a bar and a small outdoor seating area for an al fresco dining experience.
A few steps from the main hotel takes you to the annex buildings for a more residential atmosphere in one of the historic canal-side buildings. Situated in the middle of the aristocratic and elegant Sestiere di Dorsoduro neighbourhood, your rooms are surrounded by the placid waters of the Canale De La Fornasa. From here you can explore the mysterious Venetian streets and passages on a discovery of antique stores, galleries and museums. Guests will be checked-in and take breakfast at the main hotel building - Messner Palace.

Just stayed at Ca Messner for little over one week and definitely enjoyed it. Stayed in single twin room in their annex building next door overlooking directly onto the water. Big shout out to Eleanora at front desk who was always courteous amidst multiple responsibilities she had to juggle. Also their restaurant staff was really nice and I wish I had dined there more often! Only reason I give 4 not 5 stars is because the bed could definitely be replaced in the twin room. It would make it the perfect room. But other than that, great place if you like clean and unique lodging for a single traveler who just needs simplicity and a local groove. Thanks again to everyone at Messner :) Collapse

We booked this hotel and seemed a reasonable cost in comparison to others within the area, however you most definitely get what you pay for! So top tips are do NOT book this hotel if you like: Wifi - this was out for our entire stay despite being told it would be back on the first night Smell - room had fabric walls and the entire room smelt of smoke, it had most definitely been a smoking room at some point and still smells of it Pillows - we requested additional pillows on the first night as the ones provided were so thin. They bought one and promised another but we then had to request this again the following day it was finally bought to us that evening but made for a very uncomfortable first night Silence - on both mornings of our stay they started works at around 7:30/8am so were awoken to drilling (first morning this was actually in the hotel!) Shower - we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the bathroom when we arrived however the following morning we discovered that the shower pressure was almost non existent and regulating the temperature was almost impossible to do Breakfast - typical cold buffet but they run out of everything very quickly so get down early if you want options that aren’t coco pops Staff - we get the impression that they care very little, a couple of things we asked for they were not able to help with and didn’t give us the Italian welcome we have come to expect on our many trips to the country We had a great weekend in Venice and highly recommend the city, just stay somewhere else! Tucked away on a beautiful river not far from the Zattere vaporetti stop in peaceful Accademia lies the Hotel Messner Palace. We had a room overlooking the canal with impeccably decorated striped material wallpaper. From when we arrived until when we left, the hospitality and friendliness of staff was constant. We received a 30% discount at the adjoining restaurant and the food and wine was great. I have rated the hotel 5* on the basis of what we paid for our stay. We were completely happy with everything. The beds were comfortable so we slept really well and were able to make the most of our stay in this beautiful city. I had sarde in saor as a starter for a meal once and it was delicious. The breakfasts were also very good. The place is thriving with lots of customers and I can see why. The attentive staff love their jobs as they obviously have a great person in charge to work for. Highly recommend this lovely little classy hotel! Collapse

We stayed here for 2 nights Nov. 3rd to Nov. 5th 2017. Excellent location. But at arrival they tried to put us into a dusty and dark hole on the other side of the canal, about 100 meters from the hotel, instead of giving us the ordered superior room. Finally, in the superior room, there was no hot water at all during our stay (no hot water in the whole hotel). Mr. Gabriele [-], supposed to be the boss in the hotel reception, promised me a compensation/refund for the misery. (Mr. [-]: "I spoke to the owner, and he is ok with that."). Until today, 5 months later, I have not seen a cent of compensation. We stayed in the same hotel some years ago, quite ok, and as I understand, at that time operated by a family. A new owner now who does not care about the guests at all?. Collapse
