Can’t go wrong for the price. Very clean, good service. No complaints! Well equipped, tea and coffee, shower gels etc hairdryer iron, ironing board. Fantastic for a budget hotel, didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that.

although the hotel looked nice and the room was clean, i got zero sleep at this hotel. The bathroom also smelled disgusting, like wee and bad drains and made the whole room smell. the bed was hard and the pillows worse than any budget hotel i have ever stayed in, plus the people upstairs were so noisy that i didnt get any sleep. The sound insulation in the hotel was extremely poor, mixed with a boiling hot room that i couldnt get any cooler, rubbish bed and pillows....certainly not worth the £94 i paid. I wont ever stay here again, premier inn and travel lodge are more luxury than this place. I filled out a customer satisfaction online and said these things and they wrote back and said "thankyou for your positive review and glad you enjoyed your stay" I certainly didnt enjoy it and it wasnt positive feedback either.....maybe they need to re-read!!! Please spend your money elsewhere!!...on the plus side friendly staff. Collapse

Just returned home after a family get together 13 of us plus Max the dog, the staff were exceptional they made us all feel so welcome and deserve a huge thank you. We had an evening meal there which we all seemed to enjoy, The beds were so comfortable and everyone commented on this, the rooms were clean and well equipped. If I had to pick a fault it would be the cost of breakfast over £15.00pp. I am sure if it was anything like the evening meal it would have been good but just couldn’t justify breakfast at that price. I would highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are exactly as on the website. The highlight of the stay was the dedication of the staff thank you from all my family. Collapse

I have stayed at this hotel before and even enquired about holding my daughters Christening here a few years ago. Whilst the stay was lovely the previous event manager didn’t seem to be as focused as we would have liked with regards to hosting our daughters special day so we decided to look elsewhere. Despite my sight disappointment regards a Christening venue, I still recommend the hotel to family and friends when they visit. However, I’ve always thought it was a shame that they didn’t take functions and events more seriously because it’s a lovely venue. To cut a long story short I saw an advert for Sunday lunch and decided to enquire further. I spoke to a lovely lady called Leanne who turned out to be the lady I had dealt with (she was very efficient) at the alternative venue where my daughters Christening had been held (small world!) She told me she was now part of a brand new events team at the Mercure hotel. I decided to go ahead and book Easter lunch for my 2 children, my hubby and my parents. The price was a reasonable £8 each for the main meal (starters and deserts available on the day for an additional charge) and children under 3yrs were free. We booked for the 1.30pm sitting (there was a 12.30pm and 2.30pm option) and when we got there we were the only guests. This didn’t bother us at all but after about 15-20mins another large family, with a few young kids came in and sat nearby which was nice. The waitress Tracey was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. She even took time to help my daughter stick stickers in an activity book they provided (along with crayons) without letting this affect her level of service. I also needed somewhere private to breastfeed my youngest daughter and she was so helpful in finding me a side room to ensure I wasn’t disturbed. We all had a main and dessert and the food was really lovely. Freshly cooked with a real attention to detail. The Egg hunt was well thought out and the children all loved it. They got a large egg each, lots of little eggs and a free Easter basket for no additional charge. I feel that the Mercure Sheffield Parkway has definitely upped their game when it comes to events and really look forward to attending future events. There are a couple of tribute nights coming up, possibly my younger daughters Christening if we decide to book a venue and Christmas dinner may be a consideration too. Here’s to many visits in the future! Collapse

When we first arrived the place looked great and convenient for us to get a taxi to the arena. We got checked in quick and easy but the receptionist failed to notice that we were entitled to "free drinks" from our booking and this was not provided at all during our stay. We got to our room and it was very clean and lovely. But I could notice that the room had been sprayed with an air freshener to mask a more horrid smell. We got ready (the shower was lovely) and headed out. When we came back the smell in the room was disgusting. It smelled like dirty water or sewaeg. But even with the bathroom door closed it still smelled in the room. The room was also very very hot. The only option to cool the room was to open the window as the fan system did not cool the room a tiny bit. But again no breeze came in either. The mattress was too soft also and gave a back ache during the night. Not saying i wouldnt come back but I dont think it would be my first choice next time as I have stayed in other Mercure hotels before and know how the quality can be. Collapse
