Booked a double room, on second floor, no lift (not an issue for us), staff helped with cases. (Some rooms do have lift access, but not sure where).Stayed in old part of the hotel - quirky, full of character, overlooking street, old beams, old staircases, lovely! Kettle and fridge in room. Air con (efficient and quiet) needed, and used, as stay over very hot weekend. Did not eat in hotel as loads of places in very walkable town. Car park available, (£10), used as some sort of huge Classic Car thing, no other parking available!! We had booked a space when we reserved the room. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Lovely area to sit in reception Collapse

We booked a suite as it was the only room we could have a extra bed in for our son. We arrived at 11 and parked with no problems. Room wasn’t ready until later so we headed out. We had a nice light big room it was clean and had much needed AC , bed could have been more firm. Breakfast was great full English and pastries. Staff were very helpful and friendly, great location couldn’t really ask for more. Collapse

This hotel is unlike 99% of the hotels we've stayed at worldwide. From the low, wooden beam ceilings, to the maze of hallways and the creaky floors (every board, every step, every room, every hallway), this hotel's unique experience is what makes it excellent. This is not a high-end luxury hotel. It is clean and fairly well maintained. Nice pub and restaurant on the ground floor. Collapse

Arrived on Sunday 29th April and left on Tuesday 1st May. However, the very same detritus which was on the carpets in our room and throughout the corridors upon our arrival, was still there when we left! After a comfortable nights sleep, my Wife and I spent Monday morning and early afternoon wandering around Stratford. When we returned to our room, we discovered that room service had simply made our bed and left fresh towels. The condiments were not refreshed and neither were the toiletries, despite there being absolutely no toilet paper left in our room. Upon discovering the latter, I headed off to reception, but on the way I met the chap from housekeeping who supposedly checks that the rooms have been cleaned and refreshed (but obviously not well enough!). I told him that we had not had any fresh toilet paper left in our room, to which he (eventually) said that it wasn't a problem and that he would get some for us. 2 hours or so later and ... nothing! At this point in time I went to reception and explained the problem. The lady was apologetic and assured me that she would get a member of housekeeping to bring some toilet paper to our room. Another 2 hours passed. Still no toilet paper! I returned to reception and the lady was, yet again, apologetic, and said that she would fetch some toilet paper herself and bring it up to our room ... which she did (Thank you!). So ... the question is ... what on earth are housekeeping paid to do here??? Would I recommend The Shakespeare Hotel? Not really. Problems aside, the Hotel itself may well ooze historical character, but it completely lacks atmosphere. Collapse
Lovely and authentic hotel, but need to improve Housekeeping team.

I been there just for 1 night and 2 days as I wanted to visit the city of the art, culture and History as is Stratford-Upon-Avon and is the city of Shakespeare. The location is perfect as everything is a walking distance. Also you have many options for food and culture. The hotel rooms is classic style and very elegant and the bed is very comfortable. Breakfast quality is also been lovely, but the best for me and my girlfriend was the fire in the lobby area!!! Best place to enjoy a Wiskhy or Hot drink with a lovely carrot cake. That will be your option if you like culture, history and tradition. There will be something to look after, and is the attention to the details as I been waiting 30 min till Housekeeping deliver for me toilet paper and I went down to reception 2 times asking for that. As a Manager for another hotel I consider that this hotel is not exceed the expectation of the guest, as I consider that 30 minutes wait for toilet paper is too much and also in the same morning that we have the Check Out a team member from Housekeeping knock in our door when we got changed and before the original time for Chek out. I consider that Housekeepers need to respect the times of the guest and need to be better communication between Front Office and Housekeeping and if a Housekeeper see a sign of DND (DO NOT DISTURB) they need to understand that they shouldn´t interrupt.
