The Mercure is well situated for Hatfield and surrounding area, staff are friendly and helpful and prices are what you’d expect to pay for this class of hotel. Rooms are comfortable and generally spacious but bathrooms need better cleaning as my room had disgusting black mould around the shower, don’t staff notice this and report it? Food is pretty good but chef does need to scrub the grill to get rid of the burnt food as too many dishes appear with lots of little bits of charcoal, otherwise food is good and breakfast offers a good range. We stayed here for 1 night as we work at events all over the country and happened to find ourselves in Hatfield. This hotel is clean, the staff are polite and has excellent facilities. We have previously stayed at the rather new Travelodge in Hatfield and it isn't a patch on the Mercure. We arrived at 3pm and was greeted by a very polite lady at reception who explained how the hotel worked and checked us in with no problems, i didn't get a name. Rooms are simple but exactly what you need, they were spotless. Sleep was good, though a little hot in the room, but you cant help the weather! I opened the window and all was ok, even though the A1 is close, you didn't hear a thing. Breakfast we were not initially going to have but we ended up waking early so we went downstairs to be greeted by a lovely lady who took our room number and explained how the breakfast worked (hot and cold buffet and food made to order). She also took our toast order and brought tea and coffee to us (even though this is available for yourself to get, it was a lovely touch). Breakfast had an excellent range with 3 different type of eggs and it was all cooked to perfection. The lady who was serving us (michelle) was friendly, very knowledgable and gave us an excellent service checking in on us to make sure we were ok and to top up our drinks. Alan, was also excellent, we had a chat with him about the local area etc. I couldn't fault the staff at all. Please pass my compliments to the chef who was working on Sunday, I have never had a better breakfast. We have another even at Hatfield next month and have booked in again! Please pass my thanks on to reception, michelle and alan and the chef. A truly brilliant stay. Collapse

I recently stayed here for a few days for business The hotel is ideally situated if you need to visit the Hatfield area and also only a few mins drive from the Galleria shopping centre The hotel was fine it is a standard 3 star hotel no frills but gave me a decent bed and place to stay away The room was good had everything I needed but the bathroom could have done with a good clean The restaurant food both breakfast and dinner was great and the menu offered something for everyone, the meals I had were all good quality and fairly priced The downside was there was a lot of flies in the restaurant that wasn’t very appealing including dead ones on the window ledges, I think mostly driven by the fact there is no air conditioning so the doors being opened to allow air in, the heat was a real problem especially considering it wasn't exactly a heat wave when I stayed, it was making the whole hotel intensely hot in all areas especially the bedrooms and made it difficult to sleep which was a real downside to my stay The staff were all friendly they didn’t go out of their way to do anything special but when interacting with them they were always polite , there was a real exception who was I believe called Elizabeth in the restaurant who is a real credit to your hotel, so lovely helpful and just naturally good at offering great service All in all it’s an average budget hotel, well situated and has both positives and negatives , it does need a bit of a face lift to be honest , but would I stay again ... yes I probably would but the heat issue across the whole hotel was a real turn off and would sway my decision in future Collapse
