On arrival at this hotel we wondered if we had done the right thing as it was AA 3 star , the sat nav had eventually found it next to several busy roads. we need not have worried because on the inside we had such a warm welcome. Sumi and the team went out of there way to sort out everything. Some of the rooms are old but the hotel is just in the process of having a refurbishment done. We had a refurbished room but had a SLIGHT problem with the toilet, this issue was quickly resolved and we were moved to a modern room with a big shower room. The room was great AS WAS THE SERVICE. The hotel may be AA 3 STAR BUT THE SERVICE AND FOOD IS 5 STAR. Sumi made sure all our meals were cooked to order and someone always at hand to get our drinks . Taxis were ordered when needed but we spent a good part of the 3 days here in the hotel rather than going out as much as planned as we felt so at home. Thanks to the happy helpful staff who obviously enjoy the work they do we just enjoyed relaxing. It's worth paying extra for a newer room. The hotel restaurant had some great food deals , its a shame for others it was quiet this weekend but it was great for us. Thankyou to all for a great weekend Collapse

Our room had just been refurbished therefore everything was lovely & modern with tasteful fittings & furnishings. A very warm welcome from the manager who made sure our stay was all that it should be. The waiting staff were also very friendly, polite & confident. The food was extremely good & varied. A bus station was about a five minute walk away therefore giving you an opportunity to travel further afield. A very pleasant stay. Collapse
Staff leave it down.

Most definately the staff leaves this hotel down in a big way. A simple thing like getting a drink at the bar can be an ordeal. My first encounter was with a young lady who informed me that she did not know many of the drinks and asked if I would take beer instead of the whiskey I asked for. Along came another young gentleman who could add nothing but chaos to the task on hand. Eventually a middle aged gentleman came along and sorted the matter. Following night we decided to order a meal... now if you want to see chaos.... it was obviously a task above their capability and having informed us that our first two choices were no longer available later arrived with the two meals after we had ordered two substitute choices, which of course arrived on with the same lady who tried to convince us that we had " taken" somebody else's meal. Breakfast was ok, nice variety and enjoyed watching one member of staff removing all the sugar while another member followed on replacing it. Had to laugh at the whole experience afterwards but under no circumstances would we return. Collapse

Myself and my partner stayed for one night last month. Upon arrival, the reception staff (whose badges stated they were both trainees) were polite and pleasant enough but failed to smile or utter words of welcome. We arrived early and so decided to have a meal in the reception area which proved very expensive with very average quality food - the steak I ordered was over cooked and the quantity of all on the plate was on the small side for the price paid. Confusion, on the part of the staff, reigned regarding when/where to bring the bill - in the end we paid at the reception desk. Clearly, new bar staff were being trained but twice during our overnight stay, they failed to understand our order given in simple and clear English and struggled to speak the language themselves with the result that we settled for drinks other than what we wanted (had what they could understand). The Executive room we stayed in was very clean overall, tidy and a pleasant experience BUT, there was only enough coffee/tea facilities to cater for one person with a very hard to fathom machine, the toilet paper holder in the bathroom was too far from the toilet, only one bath robe and too few towels were provided - we ordered extra via Reception but they never arrived - the notepaper by the bed was dirty with what looked like an excrement mark and the only window in the room was small, in the roof, extremely dirty and didn't open making for a hot environment (no air conditioning). Breakfast the next morning was nice, hot with pleasant staff and quantities (help yourself) much better! Conclusion: A nice, fresh looking hotel from the outside with a pleasant interior but there has to be a lot more attention to detail. Much better training of staff is required together with improvements in hygiene and customer service. I would not consider staying here again for a long time. Collapse

Not easy to find via TomTom, about 1/2 mile down the road, looks a little tired from the outside but smart if a little dark inside, v friendly and efficient (until the next morning!) front desk, lovely room, comfy bed and slept v well, bathroom OK with usual luxuries, superb breakfast with perfect Eggs Bene. The only downside was that they made a complete mix up on our bill but it has been sorted. So overall, v good and we would revisit. Collapse
