I recently stayed at Daventry Court Hotel with my partner for a few days away to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life! Overall stay was pretty average however the dinner service was incredible, food was immaculate and the bar & restaurant staff were very warm and welcoming, no problem seemed to be to big for them! A very special mention to the two young ladies who were running the restaurant Jordan and Lauren! They were provided us with an amazing service and deserve some real recognition! Will definitely be coming again soon! Collapse

We stayed here for the Silverstone Grand prix weekend, the hotel is situated in its own grounds with plenty of parking spaces available, on entering the hotel we found it a little dated but clean and tidy, we were booked in efficiently and given our room, we had 2 key cards which when we got to our room didnt work, so a trip back to reception to get the cards re-coded ( the woman did this whilst talking on the phone and with no interaction with us), on entering our room we found it quite pleasantly decorated and spacious with a flat screen tv on the wall, tea and coffee making facilities, modern bathroom ( but with very small towels) and was lovely and clean throughout, there are a few issues with the rooms the weather was quite warm when we stayed and there is no air conditioning in the room so the first night was very warm, but when we awoke we found that the staff had turned the heating on so this was the reason for little sleep also no fridge in the room which is a must nowadays. We got ready for breakfast but wanted to put our valuables in the safe, we found that this was not working so notified the reception, she assured us that this would be repaired whilst we were out, when we returned this hadnt been fixed so again another trip to reception where we were told again that this would be fixed, this was never fixed whilst we stayed there and had to put our valuables in the boot of our car. . The breakfast was a buffet style with a full english breakfast on offer, the food was lovely but luke warm and the plates were cold (plate warmer required) and the staff need to be more attentive with the guests. We had a meal at the hotel, the food was ok but the prices are on the steep side and when served some of the items were missing so we asked the server about the missing items to which he said he would ask the chef, on his return the server said they had run out of the items and left us at that, why not inform us before the meal or offer a discount on the missing items or replacement items, other guests were having the same issues and the staff didnt care. Trying to be non-biased we found the hotel to be clean and pleasant enough, but found that the service of the staff needs to be looked at as some appeared not to be bothered with the requirements of the guests and some guests were ignored this is why i am marking it 3 out of 5, it is a shame because with a few minor improvements and better staff skills training this could be a nice place to stay, Mercure needs to try harder with this hotel and its staff. Luckily this didnt ruin our trip as the British Grand prix was brilliant, the atmosphere was amazing and Lewis Hamilton won for the sixth time. Collapse
A million little reasons not to go.....

We had the pleasure of staying at the Mercure Daventry for the Silverstone F1 Grand Prix weekend. Where to start with the review ? On the plus side: - pleasant setting, - decent sized rooms On the negative: - Hotel towels are tiny - TV in room turns itself off after 60 minutes - 100ml of shower gel to last 2 people 48 hours, wasn't replaced until day 3 - Restaurant and bar menu are the same but there is actually LESS options available on the restaurant menu - Guest frequently complaining about food ordered but not delivered - Served pizza with no knife and fork and no serviettes either - Served basket of fries direct onto table - no plate or slate - Ordered and paid for Halloumi fries, when food arrived no Halloumi fries and waitress said 'we don't serve them'... - Ordered Ham, Cheese and Pickle sandwich on bloomer bread - received ham sandwich on supermarket sliced loaf with no cheese and mustard instead of pickle. When pointed this out the sandwich was taken away and then same sandwich returned with a slice of cheese added - not replaced, still mustard instead of pickle - £8 ! - Tables in bar area were cleared infrequently at best, left for long periods stacked with glasses and dirty plates - Never saw a single table being wiped clean the whole time we were there - see earlier point about food being served direct onto the table as well. - one member of staff spent the entire time RUNNING back and forward in the restaurant and bar area - Room keys reset themselves every 12 hours and when replaced/recoded did not work for a until further 30 minutes after - Management conspicuous by absence, staff were trying but were obviously inexperienced and had no supervision or guidance Nothing in the list of issues above cannot be easily fixed but what started off as a few minor observations turned into full on Fawlty Towers over the course of the weekend. Yes the hotel was probably busier than normal with the F1 but the bar and restaurant area was not that busy really - I have stayed in Premier Inns which are busier and offered far superior service. Overall appalled that this hotel claims to be 4* Collapse

We were booked in for 2 nights B&B as we were going to the F1 Grand Prix. Found the lady on reception to be not very knowledgeable. We were due to pick up tickets but she said in broken English, I don’t know anything’ Great, we have just travelled from Scotland and we are now unsure if our tickets were there as promised. The room was comfortable and clean, like others we found it to be a little warm and the windows didn’t open enough. Although I do understand why there are restrictions on the windows, so I am not moaning, just merely making a suggestion that they could have offered fans for the room. I expected to have a fridge in the room, which I was disappointed about. Note to hotel, please put fridges in rooms. There was a wedding reception in full swing later on in the evening, it didn’t bother us as we were too tired from the long drive, but I heard others moaning at breakfast. Some folk need to remember to have fun. Breakfast was great, full English, cereals, toast etc. It’s a convenient hotel not far from the motorway and close enough via transport to silverstone circuit. So overall we were happy, just not about there being no fridge. It did take quite a long time for the sandwiches we ordered to arrive, exactly 30 minute wait, which is a bit extreme considering it wasn’t busy. There is a spa and swimming pool but we didn’t use it. Collapse

we stayed at this hotel overnight based on what we saw the hotel looked very good with a good location but getting to our room was an obstacal course and had we had a large suit case we would have found it very difficult Also the shower was over a very deep bath with no hand rails So if you are of a certain age mention to hotel when booking making sure the room is within a flat surface to walk and you have a walk in shower Then the hotel is worth staying at Collapse
