We held a regional meeting here for 27 delegates. Having not seen the room I relied on our event advisor Kirsty to support us with the decision. We always received a quick response from Kirsty, who was helpful, friendly courteous in her approach, nothing was too much trouble at any part of our visit, right from booking and beyond. Kirsty outlined everything which was included in the conference and clear pricing stated. Kirsty advised us to have William 1&2 which to say was a stunning room, is truly and understatement! The views over the grounds were beautiful, the room sat alongside the conservatory where meals were served for lunch. Food was amazing. The cookies are surely homemade and divine served with the morning tea and coffee. Eleanor oversaw the day and supported the delegates. She was professional and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and she brought extra cookies out as they were so nice people had taken more than one each! Parking is free and plenty of spaces for our delegates. However the previous day there were over 100 delegates and the car park was full, so it wasn’t easy to park that day. Maybe something to keep in mind depending on how big your party is. Access from major roads was fairly easy via M1, M6 and A50. Overall this is a wonderful venue for any event, big or small. Collapse

The Newton Park Hotel is the most beautiful period property and grounds. It is furnished very sympathetically to the building's age. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. We only experienced the breakfast but, in our opinion, it was more than adequate for all tastes. We would certainly use this hotel again when in the area, and would recommend - providing you are not looking for a 'modern block' property. Collapse

On behalf of Mr & Mrs Harley Initial impression of this Country House Hotel is good. It is only when one looks arouund the room (we had a classic twin bedded room) that various lack of expected standards are seen. 1.Basic complimemtary tea tray a few inches off the floor in sliding drawer - mugs on a tissue to prevent staining furniture, no biscuits, 2 small sugar satchets. Fresh milk can be supplied upon request....& it was. 2. No sockets on the bed wall so unable to charge phone during night but still have access. 3. Our first morning - Saturday....our ground floor room - no.1, had no hot water in the bath, over which was the old shower head. I informed reception & a pleasant young receptionist said "it will be investigated...not a problem". When I said, but it is a problem.....a more senior member of staff said she would accompany us to look. She agreed there was no hot water & tried hard to have us moved to room 4 or 6 which has better facilities for those with mobility problems,;such as me. (I don't actually need a room fitted out for disabled but the sunken bath sounded good. Both rooms unavailable. We all went to see room 125. This time there was hot water but only a trickle of cold. On to room 126. This was acceptable - a virtual duplicate of the others. I asked the lady - Karen - -if staff could move our belongings up to 126 & she readily agreed & undertook the task herself. 3. Original sash windows, but so difficult to open. I managed to open window in room 1, but had to awake my husband, who is very strong, to open the window in room 126 in the early hours of Sunday morning. 4. Neither bathroom seemed to have an extractor fan. 5. Restaurant. a. I have many allergies. I asked if my duck could have a basic onion sauce instead of the cherry sauce. This was done but the chef saw fit to put the cooked cherries on the plate. The duck was very tastey. b. Sat. breakast - buffett style with plenty of choice. As the fried eggs looked like rubber, my husband asked, on my behalf, if I could have scrambled eggs. No problem & they arrived soon after. c. Evening dinner & I explained I have food allergies. I asked for the starter Fish Cakes & have fine green beans as my veg.. (the menu stated the fish cakes came with pea puree & radishes which I cannot eat). The waitress passed on my request. However the slate came as described in full on the menu with the fish cakes sitting on pureed peas, plus a dish of green beans. I tried one of the beans.....they were a touch more than raw. I asked my husband to try one & he concurred. I scraped my fish cakes clean & just ate them. They were lovely.. When the waitress asked how my meal was, I explained. She had passed on the order to the chef but he obviously did not look. I suggested she return them to the kitchen & ask the chef to try the near raw beans. d. Sunday breakfast was again buffet style. Plenty of everything - good selection. I asked for & was served scrambled eggs. Basic summing up: The quality of the staff is higher than the quality of the hotel. It looks rather tired & would benefit from some redecoration. The fact that all the staff encountered were friendly & helpful would encourage us to stay there again.
