What makes this hotel is its outstanding staff. I have written a review for the MERCURE before and since returning recently, their excellent customer service doesn’t falter. From the front of house staff to the restaurant and bar staff, you will always receive a friendly, professional welcome and an excellent service. I have recently been dealing with Rebecca Lester in the events team and she is simply a pleasure to deal with and an absolute credit to this hotel. Should you need any event arranging, however big or small, I would highly recommend contacting this superb hotel and speaking to their extremely helpful events team. I will look forward to my next stay in the MERCURE Holland House and would like to thank the staff for their continued outstanding customer service. Collapse

Comfortable stay for 1 night. 10 minute walk from Temple Meads. Bag drop available and check in was straightforward. A further 10 minute walk and you’re in the heart of Bristol so very convenient. Room was clean and as advertised. Initially couldn’t find tea and coffee but it had been hidden in the wardrobe. Would stay again. Collapse

I’ve stayed in a few hotels around Bristol and by the Bristol harbour and this is by far the worst. I would not stay here again. The staff did not inform me about the £15 a night parking charges, luckily I researched before hand and knew there was a charge but I was not informed at check in and at check out I was not asked if I had a car parked out back, if I did not know about the charges and as I was not asked or informed once, I would have received a fine. On the day of check out, check out is at 12pm, we had a knock on the door at about 10am by the cleaner who asked if we wanted room service, even though we had a ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door, we declined and said that we would be checking out soon, she then asked us how long we were going to be we said about half hour ish, she huffed and then waited outside our door on her phone while we rushed to get packed and ready to leave, even though we still had 2 hours until we had to leave the room. Our friends in the room over said that she knocked on their door twice asking how long they would be, once at half 9 and again after she knocked ours. We felt uncomfortable and rushed to leave and for her to stand there on her phone waiting was very unprofessional. At this point I was more then happy to leave this hotel and not return. Our room was okay, the pillows are extremely hard and difficult to sleep on, we had friends staying in another room who said the same thing. Inside the cupboard the kettle was stinking, covered in lime scale and needed a good clean. The pool was disappointing and could do with a touch up. Very poor experience and will not be returning. Boyfriend and I stayed for two nights just before the Christmas period. The room was lovely, bed, bathroom all really nice and clean which was great but the air conditioning was a bit annyoing. Maybe i just didnt know how to adjust it properly but it was difficult to get a temperature that wasnt too hot or cold. As with most hotels, you couldnt open the windows so was a bit stuffy at times. The swimming pool was a bit disappointing in that it was in the basement and you had to go outside for a bit in order to get to it. Not great when you're in your robe and slippers then come out of the pool wet. The pool itself is warm but needs some maintenance on the decor. There are only three chairs so you kind of have to do musical chairs if more than four people are in the pool which isnt great. We also had a treatment at the spa which while is a part of the hotel group is not exactly attached to it. Once again, you have to go outside of the hotel in order to get to the spa building. Massage was amazing and the staff were really nice and accommodating but it wasnt great having to get undressed in the dressing room then wait in the lobby where the front door is. You're basically sitting in the foyer in your robe in front of everyone which isnt comfortable. Collapse

I went here for the last weekend of 2018, the room was beautiful but no lock on that beautiful big bathroom and the bed gave me back ache. Woke up in the morning as I waited for breakfast in bed, I actually felt sorry for myself as I could not believe this came out of this establishment !!! It was terrible, no imagination or thinking has gone into this !!! It was a bland boring basic rubbish breakfast, no presentation no taste so why bother I say. We felt hungry in the evening and the vegan options was not there plus my partner ordered a sandwich and there was nothing to it, literally slapped two slices of bread together with a bit of cheese and sent it, no presentation no care at all. Seriously disappointed with the food but it is a nice hotel. Collapse
