This hotel is a very mixed bag in terms of the offer. It is quiet and although not in the city centre, it is easy to get to and from. The staff are helpful and the rooms are large with decent bathrooms. Breakfast looks great but tastes of nothing at all. Beds are comfortable but no duvets and rather odd counterpanes that I fear are seldom changed and not too hygienic. It is also impossible properly to regulate the room temperature so that it is either too hot or too cold. The overall impression is a bit dowdy and out of date, certainly not luxurious, but for business travel it will do, I suppose. Would not rush back though. Collapse

From our arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived late on Boxing Day and both members of staff on duty were pleasant and efficient with check in. The room was huge with a large comfy bed and the hotel room and all public areas were well maintained and clean throughout our stay. The breakfast choice was excellent and the drinks machine was good coffee and lovely hot chocolate. Plenty of fresh fruit and cereals plus Italian cakes and a good continental selection. There was eggs and bacon etc though obviously not like in England. This is Italy and they provided their delicacy’s in plentiful amounts. Pancakes, pastries and more. Yoghurt toast and preserves were all fine and the stock replaced as soon as it ran low. It also provides a Chinese breakfast section. Pot noodles and soups I think. The staff were helpful and I think some people mistake rude for not confident in English. If you greet the staff and are polite you’ll find they’re more than polite and friendly back. The cleaners worked hard to keep our corridor spotless and they deserve a mention for sure. We didn’t find the safe and our stuff was safe without it I’m pleased to be able to say. Incidentally the managers were always present at breakfast and a tight ship was kept in order. It’s a breakfast buffet so you help yourself. I’d be tempted to set knives and forks on a table as it was a hunt to find a fork but once you knew where to look it was fine! We wanted a cheap deal to Verona and booked through a holiday deals website and whilst the hotel was out of town in a residential area it was a five minute walk to a bus stop. It wasn’t scary it did have apartments as does most of Verona we found. There is a tobacconist that sells bus tickets on the main road to the right side of the main road traffic lights just past a little newspaper vendor. You just cross the road, cross back and nip over main road for the bus which stops outside a row of shops via zeviani 16 I think is the stop. Easy to miss but he’s there and for 1.30 you can get a ticket into Verona’s Piazza bra or anywhere in the city zone. It is 2 euros if purchase on the bus. We walked in the first day it’s a good thirty to forty min walk and fifteen minute by bus. We preferred the bus as it was easy and a regular service the 11 12 or 13 all go into the centre. This bus also takes you to the train station if getting the airport shuttle bus. It’s a 199 bus from platform E1 unless the platform changes if you want to go back via public transport. Don’t let the negative reviews put you off my partners hard to please and she was more than happy. It’s a four star in Italy and it does warrant the four stars. The decor in bedroom was fine not quite as modern as the corridors but nothing to complain about and a big bathroom with a bidet and shower. There was a bath but ours had no plug unfortunately ! I forgot to ask but did ask for extra pillows and got one no problem. Also the staff were helpful in pointing out areas of interest and marking on the map the hotel provides and even checked the bus timetable on our return journey home. As we arrived late on Boxing Day we let the hotel book our taxi it cost 40 euros from airport to hotel but 10 if it was swallowed in airport parking charges hence the hefty price I think but it was smooth and the driver was ready and waiting on our arrival. Would use this service if travelling late on a public holiday for sure. When I’m piazza bra we’d recommend the little train takes about 25 minutes past most of the sights to explore when in Verona it was 5.00 Euro and worth every penny ! Gives you chance to decide where to head off to explore. Food and drink is generally expensive but shop around there’s a lovely pasta to go place 5.00 ish for a pot of homemade pasta just as you go toward piazza del Erbe. There’s a fish and chip shop and oodles of coffee shop restaurants to take your pick from. The hot chocolate is heavenly wherever you go it seems ! As for Verona it’s lovely and well worth a visit ! See below some of what it has to offer Enjoy your trip and we’d definitely recommend hotel Maxim and thank them for a pleasant and fun stay. Collapse

I normally don’t write negative reviews bc I feel bad about the people who work in the establishment. That being said, I need to write this one. There are no words to describe the shabbiness of this so called “hotel”. Although the staff were trying their best, there’s no hiding the dirty carpets, and above all, the altogether look of “house with a bad reputation”, if you know what I mean. My 15 y/o son’s room smelled like old tabaco, and he felt like sleeping on his own clothes rather than on the bed sheet. Within 5 minutes in the room, we found bugs that we had never seen before. I travel a lot. I’ve been to shabby places before, but this one was just too much. The location isn’t only poor, it’s a bit scary too. So sorry, but they should not charge you to stay, you should be paid to stay there. We ended up going out and found another hotel to stay. We had to pay a fee for cancellation, but we felt we could never stayed there. My advice: don’t book. Collapse

This is a fine hotel at a reasonable price with good staff If you want the same food you eat at home stay at home It is nearly 2miles from the centre -you can walk in-it's good for you There is an excellent bus service accessible to wheelchairs if you want it I like being somewhere away from the tourist haunts but that mightn't appeal to everyone. I have always found that I get on better with people when I am in good form and I wonder when I look at the poorer reports about this hotel whether those people have been exceptionally unlucky or is there something unrealistic in what they are looking for. Be adaptable ,welcome change -this is a good place in a wonderful city Collapse

A little out of town if you don't have transport. Easily solved with a short bus trip into town. Very comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast area. Also a nice bar to have a drink and meet new friends. Plenty of restaurants close to the hotel. If you are a bike rider you can hire a bike, this is a very flat area close to the city, the roads in this area a very wide and safe. Verona is a beautiful city, it takes a couple of days to check everything out. Collapse
