My husband and i spent one night here last week. It was meant to be a little treat following our wedding 6 weeks ago. We thought we'd treat ourselves to a nice hotel. This was not it. I'm really disappointed. The room was basic at best. It was clean with a large comfortable bed but thats where the good bit ends. The shower tap was old and broken and we found a flea in the bed the following morning that I'm pretty sure we didn't bring with us. When the staff niticed you tjey were friendly but no one was going to go out of their way. Breakfast was nice, lots of choice but again, no one really cared if you were enjoying it or not. Location is as it says. I could have got somewhere a hell if a lot nicer for the same price or less. It was supposed to be a luxury treat, its what i thought of when someone says Marriott. Maybe we just had bad luck but i won't be going back to this, or any other Marriott in the future. Collapse

Nice hotel just a few minutes walk from the Broad Area of Birmingham and the Arena where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants. Hotel was clean, comfy and warm so a great please to stay. Some on site parking, at a charge, not sure other hotels nearby have this availability. On the negative side the drinks in the bar are very pricey, £9+ for a large glass of the cheapest (and very average) red wine. Collapse

I've come to appreciate the Marriott full service properties in the UK as they are so much more sophisticated than their sister properties in the US. The Birmingham property was an excellent choice for me to stay in. I was a bit worried when I approached the property from the exterior, but the interior is fresh and up to date. The rooms were well appointed, immaculate and everything worked as expected. I was welcomed as a Platinum guest and afforded a beautiful upgraded room. I did not eat at the restaurant, but stopped in the pub for a quick pint. Service was helpful and quick. All interactions with the staff were top notch. Extremely professional and personable. Very nice to deal and helpful with questions about the area. You are in the city center - walking to all of the nightlife within Birmingham is a short 10-15 minute walk. I highly recommend this property! Collapse

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights, are visit was to celebrate New Year’s Eve. There was 11 of us. We had three family Rooms all on the same floor and close to each other, which also include breakfast. Checking in was at 3pm but we arrived about 45mins early. On arriving we was met by a gentleman from reception who took all our bags and loaded them onto a trolley, he then proceeded to check us in which was smooth and easy he was very nice and professional he also suggested events that were taking place in the surrounding area which was very helpful. Our rooms were ready for us straight away so that was a bonus. The room was lovely and spacious with two double beds, 43” TV. Bathroom was gleaming white with bath and shower. The room was very clean, had tea making facilities, lovely pillows, bed was very comfortable with blackout curtains. Had slippers and robes. In the morning went down to breakfast and was greeted by Jennifer who was very pleasant and kind as there was 11 of us she got a table so that we could all sit together, which I thought was very nice and accomadating. Thank you Jennifer. Breakfast was very tasty and plentiful with a good selection. There was a chef on hand to cook you fried eggs, omelettes, pancakes and waffles if you wanted it. I had omelettet they were very tasty. Breakfast room was clean and staff very helpful with anything that you requested. On returning back to our room there was housekeeping her name was Patsey she was so nice and kind and bubbly she cleaned our room to the highest standard nothing was to much for her and she ensured that everything was ok for us, she made us feel so welcome and at home, she is definitely a credit to the Marriott. Thank you so much Patsey for looking after us so well. The Spa was great, pool not big but was still ok and not to deep for the children. Jacuzzi and steam room was lovely, again staff very nice. Overall I would definitely say that our stay here was exceptional and we totally enjoyed every moment of our stay. Customer Service is excellent as also cleanness and are all at high standard. It’s not to far firm town centre bus stop is around the corner number 23 or 24 you have to have exact change or one payment by debit or credit card. There’s also a Morrison supermarket around the corner and a take away Pizza Hut. I would definitely recommend the Marriott and will be returning there myself the next time I visit Birmingham. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. Collapse
Old but Great rooms

Old hotel but great rooms, good and supportive staff, very nice breakfast. Only thing I felt odd is you get free coffee but you get charged for Cappuccino separately. No complaints and fast response to any requirement including fast room service.
