Stunning and outstanding does not do it justice. Asiz and team make it even better than that.

We stayed at Riad Star for 5 nights. It was our first visit to Morocco, and these were our first days. In my case, first time in any part of Africa. We got the Riad to arrange taxi at airport, and were met at the axi drop off by Aziz and a colleague with a cart for our luggage. We booked into Riad Cinnamon, but were moved here without knowing. This took us by surprise, but we need not have worried. The room for my wife and our son was perfect. Our son had an upstairs private space with his own bathroom, and a kind of landing view down to us in main bedroom proper. But with a curtain to pull across to block us out. The room was gorgeous, and in a private corner of Riad. Rest of Riad was gorgeous too. The Josephine Baker theme really works. The dipping pool in centre was much needed during our visit in August heat of 40+ degrees Celsius every day. The stars of this Riad are Aziz and the rest of the team. They were effortlessly helpful when we needed it, and just left us to our own devices when we did not. Aziz made us feel very like we were in our own home within the first few minutes of arrival. This is not an act, totally genuine. He also provided a pre-paid pay as you go phone with a speed dial back to him, in case we got lost or needed his help. We took it with us every day, but did not need to use it, but it really felt like a nice connection back to support if we wanted it. Nice touch! Every time we returned to Riad, Mint Tea was available in minutes if we wanted it. The location was perfect for us. Very close to main souqs, and also to other top places of interest, such as Museum of Photography, and the Madrassa. We took the meal on arrival first day, which was a feast! Great value and great food. The breakfasts were fantastic too. There is a lovely feel to this place, and we found that other guest felt very at home as well, and we found it easy to chat and get to know other guests over breakfast, to compare stories or recommendations. This was natural, and I felt it was the ambiance of this place that made strangers feel comfortable with each other. Not that we needed to share recommendations. Aziz gave us excellent recommendations, especially restaurants, and when he knew we would need a reservation, he made one for us. He also taught me how to haggle for the correct price for a taxi. He did this by accompanying us first time we used one, and I just watched the master. On return, I did not get as good a price as Aziz, but came pretty close :-). I have no idea what Riad Cinnamon is like, but can honestly say we were so happy to be based out of Riad Star. Tip: Do download the Marrakech Travel App that the owners of this Riad and their other 3 Riads, have put together. It was invaluable, especially in first couple of days, using map and GPS helped us a lot to establish our bearings quickly, and you need to in Marrakech! Collapse

The staff I think add a lot of value to the place, they were so welcoming & accommodating to us, we were a big group of 11, they were wonderful! A big thank you to Aziz who looked after us and helped us a lot, by the end of the trip he felt like family, and the whole group adored him. I highly recommend you stay here. I can't wait to go back again Collapse

My partner and I stayed at the Road hotel star and had the most incredible experience. It was probably helped because we were not expecting very much of Marrakech itself having been warned that it was touristy and had pushy salesmen. However we were blown away by the hotel and its amazingly friendly and helpful staff as well as the city itself. Our room was definitely in the top 5 for the most romantic room we have ever stayed in during our rather extensive travels. We love simplicity but also love architecture and authenticity-our room was decorated with incredibly detailed carved white plaster-I can't imagine how long it must have taken to create the carvings. The bathroom was small but very clean and great shower. But the best thing of all was we had our very own 'meditation tower' where there was space for our iPad (or I think they can provide one if you do not have one with you) and a small chair. The carving here has arabic words which say something inspiring though I cannot for the life of me remember what it says now but the atmosphere in this tiny little cubicle was incredible and the sound of the mosque call to prayer combined to make this an incredible experience. I wanted to move in permanently-it felt so spiritual and calming. Not much relevance for you if you are not into meditation or mindfulness though lol! On a more mundane level our bed was incredible-soft sheets and pillows, comfortable mattress and the best sleep. Definitely 5 star level bedding. And the food surpassed five star. We had stayed in a few other hotels in Marrakech before we went on ur Morocco adventure and the food had been so so. But the food at Riad Star was truly gastronomic level. Not sophisticated it has to be said-served in traditional tagging pots and simple white plates but really incredible tastes flavours and spices. We were so impressed that we signed up for the cookery school class the next day and had a great time-our tagging didn't quite taste as good as the one we had the night before but I think we under spiced or something. But it was great to experience the vegetable market and buy the spices and see how they chop up the ingredients etc. A fun time and I would recommend this too if you have time-I think you can choose either morning or afternoon and then eat the meal you make. We also loved the Hammam where we both had a massage as well and loved the orange flower oils. The masseuse was great after a full days walking around the souks. We loved the whole experience. The staff and especially Hicham and Abdou were really helpful-great sense of humour and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is located in the very centre of everything but even so it is still possible to get lost and we appreciated the travel app that the staff downloaded onto my smartphone as soon as we arrived-free of charge. We will no doubt return here when we can and in the meantime we are telling all our friends and family to come and visit you! Thank you Hicham! Collapse

My wife and I stayed here in May 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The highlight of our stay was the manager Aziz who catered to our every need. Since the riad is 'buried' in the old medina of Marrakesh (have the hotel meet you at the train station or airport and take you there!) and the old medina is a maze of narrow streets, finding your way around could be very confusing to maybe impossible. Aziz made this a non-issue, after our arrival, by giving us a pre-paid cell phone to use to call him after visiting any particular area of the medina. He would lead us to any location we asked (in the old medina) and was always very pleasing and cheerful. As regards the riad itself it is very, very nice inside. You might be very apprehensive about the location as you work your way through the maze of 'streets' in the medina going there, but once inside you'll see a very ornate and well maintained interior. I would happily stay here again. Collapse

Stayed here for one week with friends and loved every minute! We received the royal treatment, including breakfast on the rooftop terrace, afternoon tea with fresh fruit & nuts, arrangements for Haman bath & massage and recommendations for site seeing and a wonderful week. They also arranged transportation to and from the airport for us and prepared special delicious vegetarian meals for our small group. They offer a wonderful app that makes navigating the city, restaurants and places of interest super easy. This is also a fantastic locale for a yoga retreat of about 16 people (shared rooms). Would love to return and visit sister hotels, the Riad Cinnamon, Riad Papillon and DarHabiba. Collapse
