when i booked for this hotel i didn't check the reviews it had, i finally checked them online one week before flying and i can honestly say that i was horrid to see what was being said about the hotel and knowing it had more 1 star reviews than 5, it even drove me to call my travel agent to see if i can change hotels but with it comes with a £25 fee plus if the hotel i change cost more i have to add more money and i already payed quiet a bit so i winged it and i was worried because i had to stay for a week. i got to the hotel and i was surprised with the warm welcome and well behaved manners and politeness they had. now problems with whatsoever hotel room was wonderful with a fantastic view to the mountains and 2 single bed with a sofa for a family of 3. the food was great (didn't got sick) really good selections and treats and traditional food all together, even though am a fussy eater i still manage to eat well. i loved the coffee machine with various section as coffee to mocha coffee, theres also tea selection overall food and drinks was great cannot beat it. hotel was in a good location with a taxi line and bus stop just outside, walk to the beach 5 mins, various shops and a 24hr shop just outside. overall it was great and would defiantly recommend because i believe the hotel saw the bad reviews worked with the problems and solved it greatly, its deserved a chance. theres basketball court plus a really good pool with free seats and also a luggage weight scale only pay 1 euro. if i like to see something new i would not minds seeing a disco or more music being played or an entertainment team. overall it was a excellent stay and i be booking next time. excellent work keep it up. On arrival I was greeted by two lovely young ladies called ‘Cathrina and Soula’ whom were professional, hospitality and had warm and friendly smile’s. Now days, for some reason, people do not smile which I find very sad but at Hotel Marilena this was not the case. Accommodation: My room was large, clean, with all the fasciitis, i.e. shower/bath and a few little extras like shower gel, shampoo/ soaps, and the best of all ‘Cotton Bed Linen’. Out on the balcony the view overlooked the pool and beautifully kept gardens with their bright and vivid scented flowers and across the road I could see the sea and surrounding mountains of Crete. Even the domestic staff where happy and helpful saying ‘good morning to each guest’ Facilities: Soula and her team, who run the restaurant where attentive and helpful at all times. Food, great selection of Cretian food with a wonderful vegetarian option, along with many salads, amazing yummy deserts and fruits to finish with, plus Andomi who would take care of the coffee, wine’s and other liquid options as and when you might need them. Around the pool area, which was kept very clean, sun beds with mattress and the option to hire a soft bath towel to lay on. A small children’s play area with pool table and basket ball court so something for everyone. Staff: I have to say that over the many years of traveling on business and for pleasure around the world and in Greece especially, I really have to say that Hotel Marilena is the friendliest, with old fashion values that go the extra mile for their guests. Nothing is too much for the staff whom will assist you with what every you might need. Example: I found a cat who had been hit by a car, I became very distressed by the site of the cat, Poppy and Yanni, staff/family at Hotel Marilena helped me get the cat to a vet where it’s recovering at present. Thank you Hotel Marilena and all your staff who have now become family for making my stay a wonderful memorable occasion. You should be rated Five Star Collapse
