Stayed here for one night to go to a wedding at the Museum of Science and Transport. Lovely to have valet parking at a city hotel. Warm welcome and very helpful with luggage. Big room with just about acceptable lighting. Although safe needed attention this was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Car had been brought round when we came to leave so no hanging around. Would definitely use this hotel again. Collapse

Spent 6 nights here at the Marriott Victoria & Albert. Lovely warm greeting from Hanna at reception on arrival - she was very helpful with recommendations of places to eat etc and allowed us an early arrival. Rooms were a good size and had AC if needed. The shower we had was in the bath tub, so if this is an issue for anyone with mobility problems you might ask if there are rooms with a separate shower. We were on 2nd floor, had a view of the river, but the windows were small, to be expected I guess in an old mill. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was included in the rate and was very hearty - coffee and tea were good with breakfast which ranged from cereal, fruit, cold cuts and cheese, to a full bacon, sausage, two choices of eggs, veggies, baked beans (a British treat). Only thing lacking was a decent bar staff. They didn't seem to know much about cocktails and weren't always particularly visible for follow up rounds of drinks. They meant well but felt there was a lack of training. Easy walking distance from the hotel to almost anywhere in downtown Manchester. Parking is limited but for a fee they can valet park your car round the back of the hotel. All in all for he price range, this was a really good option. Collapse

Decided to visit Manchester and stayed at the Marriott in Spinningfield -On arrival at the hotel although we checked in earlier than the recommended 4.00pm time, we were told the rooms were available – the Concierge who checked us in had excellent customer service and made us feel welcome. The lady’s name escapes me but I highly rate her for welcoming us to Manchester. We were allowed us to check in early and we were given rooms 215 and 220. However on entering the room (220) I felt claustrophobic and the low beams did not give the room a clean feel. I knew that I would not feel comfortable and requested to change rooms. Reception were more than accommodating and allowed us to view room 420 which was excellent and had a different feel to room 220. The bigger windows and meant the room felt spacious and airy. The customer service offered by our receptionist was excellent and we were told that as we had two rooms one group would move and the other would stay. As the other room was a junior suite we decided to keep it on the 2nd floor. However the receptionist was so accommodating and without our acknowledgement was kind to offer all of us on the same level. I am annoyed I forgot her name but would like to say thank you. Whilst the Marriott boasts high standards the little extras that you would expect from the caliber of hotel lets it down. Example bread available for toasting seemed of the cheap kind and did not cater for gluten/wheat free variations. Brown sauce served in a bowl… How difficult would it be to get sachets. (Hygiene) Instant coffee in packets available was not branded however in the room Nescafe was available. Why was this different at the breakfast table? However, as a balance breakfast was excellent plentiful and varied from fruit salads to a traditional cooked breakfast. Whilst I don’t fault this hotel it really does whittle down to the small things you take for granted that perhaps you expect from a good hotel. One complaint I do have when asked about decent restaurants in the area the hotel staff seemed a bit clueless and failed to promote the excellent location of the hotel namely Spinningfelids. It was not until the following day when I checked out and explored the area I realised what a hidden gem this place was with an array of restaurants to suit the fussiest diner. The Concierge staff in particular the French gentleman was most helpful and thank you for booking our taxi. The other staff member of that night seemed a bit clueless and un-attentive and rather than tell us to go to Spinningfields he provided a list of restaurants which was full of chains. If you want to experience a hidden gem please walk to Spinningfields where you will be able to find restaurants although quiet it is worth exploring. All in all this is a great hotel and good location. Great for a weekend break. Collapse

Great weekend stay for 8 of us for my hen do. Organising was easy from the moment I contacted the hotel, to the numerous amends and organising the pre payment. I had difficulty linking all of the bookings to my Marriott rewards but on arrival reception had noticed this and completed it for me. Two rooms were ready on our arrival at 11am which was fabulous and unexpected. Rooms were lovely, beds very comfortable and breakfast was fantastic as always at a Marriott. Only one issue experienced when trying to get the key for the room that wasn't ready earlier as it was showing as unpaid due to an error in the way the prepayment had been applied. This was resolved quickly and efficiently. Location was perfect for us going to Crystal Maze and having dinner and drinks centrally. Would definitely visit again. Collapse

Another superb stay at our favorite Manchester hotel. Top service from the moment we arrived, from the concierge who remembers your name to the excellent reception staff. Little touches mean a lot. Spotlessly clean hotel, super rooms and suites and a piece of Manchester history all in one place. Lovely relaxing drink in the bar following our trip around Manchester. Great breakfast to start the day on our departure too. A great hotel to enjoy Manchester. Looking forward to coming back at Christmas for our shopping weekend. Many thanks again to all the staff. Keep up the great work. Collapse
