Staff is great

Hotel seemed a bit dated though location was fine. Close enough walk to some of the central area but not exactly a great view. Staff was great, very friendly and willing to help out with any questions.

I was surprised with this stay for my birthday. Check in was a very slow process, however it looked as though the young man was being trained. I absolutely loved the design of this hotel, the room was perfect. I had the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time !! Breakfast was lovely, however when we went back to get something else, the waitress had already cleared our table which was slightly awkward. However, all the staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay again !! Collapse

On arrival at the hotel we we weren't sure where we should be. No one greeted us on arrival, the bar area was very busy with conference guests and no staff to be seen. Finally we were assisted by an older male staff member, though friendly, his uniform made us think he may have been a handyman! We eventually ordered our choice of tea and after noon tea.Service was very slow. We waited almost 25 minutes for our food, in which time our tea pots were empty. We asked for re fills, which we got. We had to ask for jam to go with our scones, which along with our waitress were covered in icing sugar! We would have liked a clean plate for our sweets, but no staff around again. Sadly the scones were very very crispy. I struggled to cut it with a normal knife and only ate 1 of the 2. We almost felt like we were being ignored as we were using a groupon voucher! Collapse

Stayed here for one night with my husband and two children. Hotel is not meet the same standards I expected from Marriott. Hotel is small and needs a refurb. No bottled water available in the rooms. You legitimately have to “pump” the toilet to get it to flush. Carpets are drab and dirty in the rooms. Food service in the lounge is slow and uninspired. Asked the front desk for suggestions on how to get from Etihad Stadium to the train station after a match - and was told we should just walk the 1.5 miles (later found out there is a tram from the stadium to the train station. If we come back to Manchester we will definitely try another hotel. Collapse

In town for a work conference I booked Marriott for the points and it did not disappoint. The staff was fantastic from start to finish always asking if things were okay and giving (great) advice on the local territory. First, the lady at the front desk (I’m sorry, I’m missed her name) answered all the questions this out-of-towner had and provided maps and directions where appropriate. Next was the bar staff...absolutely outstanding. During the day Lauren was fantastic coaching me on the local happenings and beers I should drink plus the general conversation that any out-of-towner appreciates was great. In the evening you have Marty (and a bit of Daniel) who was ALMOST as good as Lauren but he’s only been here a month so it’s understandable. Both Lauren and Marty provided valuable insight into the local area and places to go which I took them up on and they did not let me down. If I come back to Manchester, you better believe that I’m looking for these two and most likely staying at the V&A hoping they are still here. Collapse
