The accomodation was suitably pleasant and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Mellow and relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel and at the diner/ bar with soothing music in the background. The food was cooked well and tasted fair, however lacked vibrancy. Staff are pleasant and accommodating. There is a gym with pool available but it is not onsite. I would stay here again when in the mood to have a lazy weekend or on a business trip. Collapse

I booked 3 rooms for the boxing in Manchester. I only live local but was a night out with some business friends. I booked it because of the location which is very good. I thought it was very over priced when I got there. The lighting system in the rooms is complex, no charging points close to the bed etc. Something any Hotel should be addressing now. Maybe I am just grumpy as I have checked out this morning. I had 1.5hrs sleep. Not exactly the hotels fault but being Chinese new year there were many Chinese guests at the hotel and they were in the room next to me...the walls are so thin and they did not sleep at all and just carried on screaming and shouting ALL night. I had an adjoining door...It was a nightmare. Nope, won't be staying again, not for the value for money I didn't get. However... the location is good, if you do get a GOOD deal, give it a go. Over-priced and under-delivered, but a good location

My company recently hosted a small conference in one of the function rooms and I stayed there as an overnight guest. I was met by the valet parking guy who took my car and parked it about 25 feet from the hotel entrance where it stayed for 24 hours. Maybe if the hotel was busier they would take it somewhere else, but as it was it just became a slight inconvenience as I no longer had my car key to just nip out to the car and get a pair of gloves and when I came to leave the next morning I had to spend time de-ciing because it wasn't as if it was being taken somewhere undercover. Didn't feel like a great service or great value. In the function room everyone was slightly chilly and we had to have blow heaters to help warm up the room though many clearly didn't find they helped and wore coats for large parts of the day. There was no dedicated lunch area for us even though we were around 50 people so we had to queue for buffet lunch in the main restaurant with other hotel guests who probably found having us there a huge pain as well. Buffet lunch was very very average and items ran out. It was also cold. Breakfast was similarly disappointing. Just not of the quality, variety or standard I would expect from a Marriott. My bedroom was OK, quite quirky with exposed wooden beams harking back to the buildings origins as a wharf warehouse, but whereas the public spaces were too cold, the room was baking and I had to turn the heating right down to stand a chance of being able to sleep. The redeeming feature is the location which is very good. However, just across the canal is a Premier Inn which enjoys the same excellent location, a nearby covered NCP car park, more modern rooms and a better breakfast all for less money. I'd go there! Beautiful Hotel with very polite friendly and helpful staff. I requested a room change to a lower floor as i suffer a bit from vertigo. The staff dealt with this immediately by allowing us an even better room! This was after we had already unpacked and used the room facilities. The breakfast was very nice and the dinner was also very pleasant whether eating in the Restaurant or Bar area. Greatly positioned for walking into town centre (15 min walk?) We were so impressed that we are in the process of rebooking in 5 months time. I would recommend this hotel 100% Collapse
great hotel, nicely designed - but the staff friendliness makes it!

Stayed for 2 nights in February.... from my first interactions by phone about some reservation specifics I was impressed with the manner, helpfulness and genuine attitude shown. From arrival to departure the staff really did deliver a warm, friendly and natural desire to help and encourage you to enjoy your visit - and that was evident from housekeeping, to the bar to the restaurant - especially excellent from the Front Desk teams. This is what divides 'nice' hotels from really 'great' hotels - my compliments to all and to the management leadership which must be driving this great team dynamic. Will stay again for sure.
