We are on day 5 out of 7 here with hubby & kids, 12 & 14. The hotel is clean, the food good a varied and the bar is well stocked with everything you could want. You are welcomed with drinks in the reception, told everything you need to know, check-in was smooth. We are on floor 2 which is good as the lifts can take some time during busy periods so we have used the stairs. Room is clean & has everything you need, tea making facilities, fridge with complintary drinks. Air con is good & ceiling fan for extra flow! Sky news & BBC 1 on the tv. No balcony but didn't miss it, we had a sea and pool view so could watch the big screen from our room. Power drench shower with bath and towel drying facilities. Rooms aren't massive but if you keep them tidy it's ok. Stored luggage under the bed. Daily housekeeping and phone to reception. Plenty of room for clothes and toiletries. Hotel staff lovely, odd grumpy bar person but hey we all have a bad day. All branded alcohol, bar snacks, kids cocktails there is also a snack bar which has pizza, chips, salad, bread & beer & fizzy drinks on tap. Unlimited bottled water available. Food is good, buffet style catering with plenty of choice. All clean & chefs wear hats and gloves staff very good keeping tables clean. The pool area has plenty of beds, could do with more tables and chairs. Sun all day in different parts of the pool area. The pool is cold but not too cold for the kids to play in It. Lots of games to get involved with and screen playing pop music & football not forgetting the afternoon Disney film. The slides are old and you get a bit of a rough ride down! Wi-Fi is good. Lots of seating inside with fill air con. Entertainment good from what we've seen, we haven't visited it much. Everything stops at 12 midnight at which point everything is silent, which is great. A families here no roudy groups. Take advantage of being able to visit other hotels in the group, it's a free day out. We went to the Robin Hood, which was great. The water park is fab, so no need to pay to go to aqualiland go here for free, you get all your food and drinks, just make sure you select Buffett when you book your tickets on the machine. There is a free bus but we took a taxi as we didnt want to stop at all the hotels. It took 10mins to get there and cost €12 each way. Hotel is at the top of a hill which a short walk to the beach, bars, shops, mcdonalds, subway etc. Not suitable for people who struggle with mobility but absolutely fine for anyone else, even little people! Beach is beautiful, plenty of space, lots to do. Don't go out on pedalos if it is windy as we had an accident on the rocks! The indoor market is quite good & close to hotel so worth a visit. Hotel has an adult only bar with beds & hot tub & fantastic views. My kids have said they would return, my son made plenty of friends & my daughter 14 managed to drag herself away from her phone a few times, so happy days! I would definitely return. Collapse

Arrived at hotel by taxi(very expensive) dropped to main entrance which was gorgeous. Reception staff superb, hotel immaculate! We stayed AI DRINKS-clean,fresh glasses at bars, plenty of choices for kids/adults. For health+safety reason plastic glasses outdoors ie pool area etc. BEST AI choice ever...slush puppies, cocktails, alcoholic+soft drinks the real McCoy no cheap versions.Bottled water, juices, coffee, tea etc FOOD-bit repetitive but great choice of breads, salads, desserts, fresh fruit, chocolate fountain etc Plus loads of sea foods (I'm not a fan)Loved the Mexican themed night. Few restaurants to chose from including snack bar! Crisps, popcorn, cornettos, various ice creams GREAT...PERFECT. The guy who runs the restaurant front of house was brill. But main restaurant was so hot and busy.Needs aircon. POOL- Bit small for the amount of guests in my opinion, but great still. SLIDES-my family hardly went on them as they're not like in England. A Few people was sporting injuries from them so stayed off. Life guards were fab in+out of water helping. ROOF TOP chill out for over 16's felt like paradise!!!!!!!! Four poster beds, hot tub views to die for oh my gosh just heaven. The barman JESUS just adorable, kind, funny,an asset to the hotel. ROOMS-not the best for a family-2 double beds and a sofa bed, tiny,no storage, crap air con and tbh I did miss a balcony. But hey we only slept in it so we made do. This hotel was spotless, staff all professional yet friendly and VERY BUSY and HARD WORKING right down to the cleaners+maintenance staff. Every night everything cleaned, before people enjoyed their night times. This hotel was great!!!! Only thing that was off putting for me personally was the size of the rooms and the layout. For a family of four with 2 teenagers, one girl+1 boy it was not ideal. Had it been even a double bed+2 singles we'd of coped better. Thanks for the stay enjoyed it Collapse

Right, I'll start at the start: ARRIVAL: We arrived to what looks a pleasant hotel, the check-in was simple enough, no issues. Then we arrive at our room... NOT GOOD! For a family of four (2 adults a 14yr old boy & 8yr old girl) we had 2 double beds pushed together with a sofa bed alongside, now this meant having to use the sofa bed, before assembling the sofa bed there was already a lack of room, it was very claustrophobic. All that would of been ok had it been for 1 night rather than a week. We found other guests that had the same issue, they were granted a room change but we were not (disappointing). The bathroom was nicely decorated but to sit on the toilet was an uncomfortable experience, very little room to put your legs. GETTING AROUND: Initially finding your way around isn't easy as it seems whoever done the signage may of been a little drunk? E.G: 'restaurant on floor....' then you see a sign with an arrow pointing 'restaurant this way------>'. You follow the sign and hit a dead end. It took a few days of just learning the place yourself. The lifts: SLOW! Especially on a morning when the cleaners etc are using them, a separate lift for staff only would make sense. FOOD: I can't fault the food, they do try and provide for everyone with a lot of variety, we had some nice meals, no problem at all. DRINK: through the day you get your drink in small plastic glasses, they're too small, was no option for a large one. Meaning more trips to the bar and less time relaxing. POOL AREA: Nice and clean, pool is a nice size and jacuzzi is a nice touch. ENTERTAINMENT: Whilst I found the in-house entertainers to be hard working and energetic they didn't seem to speak much English, I understand they need to cater for the Spanish guests but there was also a lot of English guest's that I feel should of been took into consideration. You could tell the English customers by looking at their confused faces. Then the Entertainers that were brought into the Hotel were the same, the occasional English word here and there didn't help much. So overall I found the Entertainment disappointing. WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO A FRIEND: No I'm afraid not. WOULD I TALK A FRIEND OUT OF STAYING HERE: No, as it's not the worst place in the world, they could have a better experience than we did. WOULD I STAY HERE AGAIN: Only if we got a very good deal and had assurances of a better room. OVERALL: Was a mixed bag, I feel the problems we encountered could be rectified very easily (which makes it all the more frustrating). We did have a good time but I feel it could of been better had this hotel put a little more thought into people's needs. Collapse

Read the usual mixed reviews. You cant please all of the people all of the time, this is my opinion of the Magic Rock. Got an early flight so turned up early. We did have to wait in the reception for our room but it does say check in wasnt until 3pm, our room was ready by 12 I think. First impression was that the place was very clean. The entrance and reception have a rock/African theme which younger kids would love. They put our bags in reception whilst we had a wander round. Went into the restaurant on the pool level and had some food and drink. There is only one main pool which isnt very big and a couple of jacuzzi type areas. There are a few slides and waterplay area at the top for younger kids. Was a bit of a maze to get through all the sunbeds, no real designated walking area. We were to find out that there wasnt enough beds for everyone and it didn't help that most of them just had towels thrown on them with no intention of people using them or the kids coming back once an hour for 5 mins. The usual thing. We did see people queuing at 9am to put their towels on before going to breakfast. The upper area didn't open until 10 or 11 and even then people would queue to get those beds. The lifeguards seemed to open and close the slides when they liked as opposed to the times stated. Probably something to do with breaks, etc but you never knew when they open or close. It did get shaded after a certain time but the kids didnt care and by then it was so hot that the shade was welcomed. The beach is a 5 min walk so thats always an option. The room was adequate for sleeping in. I mean, when you spend lots of money on a holiday why would you want to spend loads of time in it apart from sleeping. There wasnt a balcony which we knew and werent bothered about but it would have been nice to sit on it when the kids were in bed although we all did tend to go at the same time. 2 huge beds big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 11 and 12 without touching each other. Had a TV which had a couple of english speaking channels and the news. Hairdryer in bathroom although didnt use it as it got so hot in there after a few showers that you didnt want to be in there for too long. No fan in there. Aircon in room though so all good. Food - It was fantastic. People who said there wasnt any choice, not sure where they were eating!! The African Vergen restaurant was amazing. usual salads and other bits, kids corner that had the normal chips, burgers and things they think all kids should be eating and lots of different meat choices elsewhere. You would only be disappointed if you were the fussiest of eaters and only ate chicken nuggets. So much to try and it tasted great. I defy anyone not to find something different to eat every day. The African Fells restaurant which was on a different floor had the same food but just a smaller selection. This place was great if you dont fancy facing the masses. Its smaller, quieter, less rushed, you can have a glass of wine out of a bottle. Great if you want a quieter meal, or you have a larger group due to the way the tables are set out. If you have a grumpy child or one that doesnt like too much noise then you would be best to eat here. The only downside was the lack of choice but still plenty to choose from. The other place to eat was the place by the pool. It was open from 11-6 so if you miss breakfast or want a snack then you would go here. Have to say, the food wasnt that great in here. You can get coffee/juice/beer in there, chips, sandwiches and ice cream. With the other places serving lunch until 3pm you wouldnt need to eat a meal in there. We worked out there was only 45 mins of the day that you couldnt get something to eat!! Bars - one in reception and one next to pool open during the day. Only one staff on by pool so dont expect to get served quickly. Think there was 2 in reception, only got water from there on way out hotel. Another 2 bars open in the evening. Again only one member of staff sometimes 2 so always queuing which wasnt great. You can get more than one drink at a time, up to 4 they usually let you so that wasnt too bad just lots of waiting to get them. Entertainment - not great. The main room by the pool was aimed at the younger kids with the team looking after them. There were various other things that happened in the but they didnt start until after 10.30pm which even I thought was a little late and I didnt have younger kids. The kids with us were 11 and 12 and there wasnt anything for them to do if I'm being honest. They were too old for the club which was for under 10s, they were too young to do archery and they did get fed up with the slides after a while. There was another room where DJ Duggy did a quiz then there was an act such as a singer or drag artist. Did give this a go after a few days and it wasnt as bad as I anticipated. He does keep everyone entertained and who doesnt love a good quiz!! The acts afterwards were okay. Its a shame it was a long narrow room with too much lighting. The other nationalities didnt tend to go in there so it was all very British. Staff - amazing. As mentioned, the place was immaculate which was no mean feat considering how many were there leaving their stuff lying about. The staff in the main restaurant worked their socks off. Finding you a table,, ensuring it was cleared quickly, cant say enough about them. Cleaners did a fab job and I am sure there were pleanty of people in the background that were true champions too. Bar staff very busy, could come across a wee bit unhappy at times but give them a break. Chucking beer and cocktails at people from 11am in that heat, I wouldnt be too thrilled either. Best bit - the rooftop bar. No kids allowed. Plenty of beds, a hot tub, big double beds, music, bar with much better drinks served by the fab Jesus. It was bliss. if your kids are old enough to be left in the pool, which you can see the whole area from up there so you can keep an eye on them, then do it. It was my safe haven. Defiitely take time to visit the sisters hotels, Robin Hood and Tropical Splash. Their pool areas and slides are way better although, in my opinion, the food at Magic Aqua wins hands down. There is a machine in the reception where you use your room key to book. I would suggest you do this on day one as it does get booked up as the bus has to collect from several hotels on route and make sure you choose the right route when getting on bus on way back or you could be on bus for a long time. Dont forget to book bus and buffet. You use your card to get drinks and food there too. Robin Hood def worth a visit if you had to choose. Oh the lifts can get busy so either be prepared to wait or do lots of walking up and down stairs. We walked mostly, was quicker and helped ease the guilt of all those fab cakes and puddings!! All in all, we had a gerat holiday. Not a massive fan of Benidorm so wouldnt go again. Certainly not as cheap as it used to be but there are deals on drinks and food to be found. Not really on the restaurants at the front though, more expensive. Enjoyed a drink a couple of times in a rock bar which was about a mile along the front. Couple of beers for a fiver. Very lively along the front during the day but quieter at night. All the groups and drinking people go into town a bit so perfect for the kids and families to walk down without being accosted by stag and hen parties. Collapse
