The Swan's Nest hotel is excellently situated, making it very easy to walk about town without needing to take the car. The hotel service was fine, though not outstanding, there is the opportunity to use the gym and other facilities across the road but never had the time for this. The hotel restaurant, Pierre's Bistro, is a French restaurant, the food is excellent but is a tad expensive. We ate there on the first night and the food was delicious, however there are so many other places to eat in the town that eating there once was enough. The breakfasts were served there as well, these too were excellent except that as the hotel was so busy it was difficult to get a table and the service was sometimes lacking as they had so many people to serve. As it was our wedding anniversary we had a couple of special meals at canal boat cruise on The Countess of Evesham with a 3 course meal in the evening, this was a very special trip. We also had afternoon tea at a 1940's themed tea room this too was great, though rather loud as it was so busy so difficult to here the music playing. Collapse

A delayed anniversary celebration in a lovely tidy town..overflowing with a mix of family day trippers and overseas students/ visitors in search of a touch of the Shakespearian experience. craft stalls are set up near the r.s.c. theatre on a Sunday with local produce and crafts on sale..nice touch. recommend booking ahead if you're dining out as most restaurants get booked up pretty quickly at weekends. a visit to Stratford can be as busy or relaxing as you like with boat trips and bus tours available, it has a wide range of independent and high street shops and restaurants within a compact area. its been a couple of years since our last visit to Stratford and it certainly didn't disappoint Collapse

We booked a last minute break to Stratford as we wanted to go to the theatre to see a RSC production. The Swan's Nest hotel was central and all the main sights, including the theatre were within walking distance. We were really pleased with our room- a spacious double and separate sitting area which was converted into a single room with TV which thrilled our son .Dressing gowns, slippers, toiletries and coffee making facilities all included. We did, however have to pay for car parking which we were rather surprised at and do think that this should be part of the package. Breakfast on both mornings was plentiful - there was a choice of cooked and continental i.e cereal, croissants and fruit. Plenty of tea and coffee. We spent our first evening going to see a production of Hamlet which we thoroughly enjoyed. The next day was spent visiting Shakespeare's houses, all of which are central. All in all a very pleasant and relaxing break. Stratford is a lovely place to visit out of season. Collapse

The room was lovely, if not very hot. We went down to the bar it was ok, then went to the restaurant thinking as guests we would be treated respectfully. Went in and got told we dont do walk ins, when saying were guests to have a gentleman call out were nothing to do with the hotel. So we left and went back to the bar, ordered food, where the chicken wasnt cooked properly, they were very appologetic, my partner had homemade pie, which upset him. Sorry to say we wont be returning. Collapse

The hotel is quite nice, although the walk from the car park through the warren of corridors, passed bags of laundry, cleaning equipment and what looked like rubbish wasn’t pleasant or easy with luggage. Rooms were nice, but used shampoo/shower gel bottles left around bath made me think it hadn’t been cleaned properly. Room on the road was noisy pretty much all night. Carpets are fairly threadbare and look dirty. The worst thing, and I know this is a franchise, but as it’s effectively servicing guests of the hotel it seems fair to comment. The pub and restaurant are awful. The pub was the most unfriendly I’ve ever been in. Dismissive staff, unhelpful and generally giving off a ‘it’s too much trouble’ vibe. The Bistrot Pierre is a disaster. We had an evening meal. It was so badly organised it was shocking. Waited for things to be brought out at odd times. Had to chase stuff. Had rubbery crepes straight from the fridge - which we complained about and got an apology, and taken off the bill. But we paid £90 for about £20 quality. Breakfast was worse - really. It’s a good trick to add a tiny drop of vinegar to water when poaching an egg. It works. However, any sane person knows, that if you add too much you ruin the egg, it just tastes of vinegar and is hideous - and if you’re me, you throw up. Shocking. If I was the hotel I would cease working with these dreadful franchises as they are going to lose you custom. Collapse
