Booked a two day golfing break at this hotel. Played the championship course on the first day and and the shorter Sapphire course on day two. The courses are both excellent. A good variation, the championship being a long testing examination and the shorter Sapphire (4,000) yards being an equal test. The hotel itself is on the cusp of needing a refurb but is acceptable. It’s a strange layout so you have a bit of a hike to the restaurant bar etc, however that’s a minor issue. Food is a decent standard, dinner was a bit slow, it would pay to book in advance. One of our team had to cancel, health issues, couldn’t get a refund, instead they gave us a 50% credit to spend in the bar. Overall for the price no complaints, would go back, just beware that it’s at the stage where taps shower etc can be faulty. We experienced a leaking pipe, but not a deal breaker so would go back. Recently stayed for one night at this Hotel on a two day golf break with a group I play with on a regular basis. Reception staff very pleasant but lack of communication between Chef and reception led to a number in party being given wrong information for fish course at dinner when ordering. Bedroom big but shower was rubbish. No hot water just barely warm both in the evening and again following morning - not good. Breakfast an absolute disaster. Waited an hour + to have order taken and when food came it was barely warm As we had an early tee off time just ate it as I didn't want to wait for another 'however long'. Either not enough staff waiting tables or in the kitchen - again very poor for this Hotel chain. Played the Emerald course in the afternoon of first day. Front 9 - very poor. Grass had not been cut on fairways and left really long in rough. Fairways cut on back 9 but rough again long. Bunkers absolutely shocking. Greens ok but nothing special. Played Sapphire course on the Monday morning - 'Mickey Mouse' - enough said. I appreciate we have had an awful lot of rain and bad weather but if the back 9 can be cut on the Emerald, why not the front 9 and why have the rough so long as it is played by an awful lot of people in society's etc. If it hadn't been for the company it would not have been a good 2 days, even though it was on a golf breaks.com deal. Would I choose to go back - I very much doubt it and certainly would not recommend. Collapse

Everything about this place is gorgeous. The hotel, the grounds, the staff, the food and the treatments. My friend and I visited here for girly weekend Spa break and were not disappointed. The hotel itself looks impressive and the staff were friendly and attentive and happy to help. Our room was lovely with a view of the fields. It was clean, fresh and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious and plentiful. I would definitely recommend the salmon!! The spa facilities are clean and refreshing and the pool was warm and cosy. There were small children there when we visited on the evening which was a little disappointing but not a huge problem. The breakfast is vast with plenty of options for everyone and the waitresses were very helpful and friendly. We each had full body massages which were heavenly and well worth the money. We then had an afternoon tea, which was slightly over priced but a lovely end to a lovely weekend. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and were made to feel welcome and comfortable by everyone we met. Collapse

I stayed here for a night in March with some friends for a spa weekend. The hotel itself is quite nice. Parking is atrocious, particularly if there are a lot of golfers around. When we got to the hotel, we went straight to the spa, filled out the forms and were shown around the facilities. The spa itself is not bad. It’s average at best. There was a strange smell in a number of rooms which ruined the atmosphere slightly but nothing major. It doesn’t fill you with a sense that you can’t wait to go back again. We had lunch in the lounge bar. That was a painful experience. We waited for about 45 minutes for a bowl of green water described as “leek and potato soup” and two mushroom sandwiches with the smallest bowls of salad and crisps attached. It was very expensive for the quality, size and wait that you have. Nonetheless, we thought we would see what dinner was like. We were told that we could just call reception at any point in the day to book dinner. We went to reception to book and see looked at with the most concern. We were told there was a chance we couldn’t go for dinner, despite having already paid for it. We were offered two times which were fine. We opted for a time just after 9. We waited until our slot and went to the dining room downstairs. It was relatively nice in decor but we were told that we would have to wait over an hour because there was another function. Not having much choice we said it was fine and were shown to the conservatory. We ordered drinks, bread and olives to start thinking this might tide us over. Also! There are no olives! We got extra bread to wait. To our surprise, the food turned up incredibly fast. It was cold and unattractive. In fact, every plate of food that came to our table was cold and disappointing. We were not asked about how anything was at any point during our stay and were left unimpressed. I’d like to add, I wrote an incredibly detailed and in depth email to the hotel expressing my dissatisfaction with the food aspect of our stay and suggested that we have a refund for the money we paid for our food. I expressed that I would not leave a review on trip advisor straight away to allow them time to respond and rectify the situation. To date, I have still had no response from the hotel and will be escalating further. Collapse
