The hotel itself lived up to its impressive appearance. however, the spa facilities were far from what i expected. In particular there was no Jacuzzi, or other special shower facilities ( unlike the sister hotel, 10 miles away, The Berystede). A disappointing feature was that while weddings were taking place the lounge area was not available to guests, as it was used for the wedding ceremony. This was particularly galling because (The Gold Room) was an exceptional room , the centre piece of the hotel. Collapse

I had high hopes for the afternoon tea here as the setting is stunning and the initial welcome was warm. We were given only three stands for a large table seating 17 adults! Only two pots of sugar for the table. Meaning that everyone had to reach to get some food, milk and sugar. The food wasn't great as the sandwiches were made from dry, stale bread which was very disappointing. The scones were very hard so only managed one scone. Also, the service, although was very polite, was nearly non-existant as we had to help ourselves to one pot of tea and coffee left on a separate table. I am disappointed with the Macdonald Frimley Hall afternoon tea experience and so would not recommend it. Collapse

We booked a spa weekend at this hotel on a deals site and it was lovely! Staff were incredibly helpful, our rooms were well appointed and the spa was relaxing (though some updating in the pool area would be nice, it’s a little dark and more space for loungers would be good). The spa treatments we had were great and their relaxation room is well equipped with hot teas, loungers and blankets. We also got a deal for dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and incredibly good value. We hope to be able to stay again soon! Collapse

Came for a spa break with massage which was very professional and so relaxing. The spa section was very nice and clean and again lovely helpful staff. Three course dinner and breakfast both wonderful and secvice in restaurant and bar fantastic. We don't understand the negative posts here at all. We had a top experience and will definitely come back. Collapse

We stayed here for anniversary over the may bank holiday. The hotel is stunning but the service is shocking. The spa is not really a spa just a pool and some treatment rooms not relaxing at all. I had a delux manicure and pedicure, there was nothing delux about it just took 55 min to do very very bad awful job. She layered the polish took thick and it just looked awful.please don’t waste your money, I Alamo had to have the pedicure split into two 30 min sessions as they had overlap my treatments 39 min in the morning and then 30 min in the afternoon. I also had a facial and Body message which was nice and I would recommend. The hotel had a horrible damp sweaty feet smell which was disgusting and my husband found out why, when he went to the toilet they were flooded. The staff in the restaurant are ok, the man on the bar is not friendly at all very rude, to the point I didn’t want a drink, as I didn’t want him to serve me, no one clears the tables outside it is just littered with glasses and plates all day well into the evening, they didn’t even bother clearing it when a wedding was there either made no effort for her big day. I watch staff prepare her wedding, which was mostly them saying,I having got a clue what I’m doing, so unprofessional. Non of the staff even bother to say hello or morning when you walk past them in the morning not welcoming at all. The big let down was no hospitality from staff and the mess of the outside patio and grass area, needs some serious staff training, it would of taken two seconds to clear all the glasses, big risk to the children running around with glasses all on the ground, I was tempted to pick them up myself as I was worried, such a shame that a beautiful stunning hotel is let down by staff, Collapse

Having looked around for a venue for my husband's 70th birthday, I finally settled on Frimley Hall. The location is ideal, not too far from Gatwick for those flying in for the party and central for those coming from various places around the country. Evee Petts, event organiser, understood my initial requests really well and communicated with me efficiently and in a very friendly manner. I booked The White Room for a private dining party. We were able to have individual choices for the meals for each of our guests; so many hotels insist on a set menu for everyone. Thankfully we were lucky enough to have wonderful weather all weekend, and as our guests arrived, we were able to sit in the very lovely gardens and enjoy both the company and the weather! Our evening started with Buck's Fizz served in the gardens, and then into the dining room for the meal. On the evening, Toby Hawker served us superbly, I cannot commend him highly enough. Toby has a very professional attitude, but still managed to make us all feel very comfortable and relaxed. My husband's birthday party was a great success and enjoyed by all our guests. If I should be looking for a venue for another party, I would most certainly consider Frimley Hall again. As for the hotel itself, it has its limitations! When I arrived the receptionist said that there were no rooms in my name, despite having booked nine of them! Much searching and still no sign of any rooms. Thankfully another receptionist came out and found them immediately. I would hope the first receptionist was new and in training, but it didn't present a great welcome to the hotel. The rooms are very average. The water supply in the bathroom is weak, taps leak and the shower in our room wasn't a lot more than a generous dribble! The rooms are quite small, as is the bed, but I had booked the rooms through Secret Escapes and for the modest price I paid, I could not argue about the size of the room. However, if I had paid the full price of nearly £200 per night for the room with breakfast, I don't think I would have been so happy. As many other reviewers have said, the aircon just didn't seem to work and when I reported it, no one seemed keen to do anything about it, nor make any note of the inadequacies of the bathroom. The pool area is good, two of my grandchildren were in the party with us and they had a great time in the pool, and so did I! (There are restricted times for children to be in the pool.) However, one of my friends wanted Spa treatments, but was told everything was booked up, despite receiving an invitation on check in to use the Spa facilities. There are some really great members of staff at Frimley Hall, from Evee who organised our party and Toby and Maria who served us, to Oana Pelea, the Operations Manager, who helped me when a present went missing. But there are also a number of staff who really don't seem to care whether they have happy guests or not. Hopefully when you go there, you'll meet the more effective ones! Collapse
