The food was amazing, the staff were very helpful and the leisure facilities were very good. The only thing was that we had a room on the ground floor and could not leave our curtains open as people were walking by, also the room was very cold until the we put the heating on. The tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and loose and the bath was chipped. I think our room was the furthest away and felt as if it was in the basement. We did complain but was informed that they were fully booked and that no other rooms were available. This would not put us off returning but I would stress that we would not want a ground floor room. My wife and I and my brother and his wife recently spent a very enjoyable night at the hotel. The bedrooms we had were large and very comfortable. The lounge area with views over the golf course was lovely. The service from the young barman was welcoming, polite and professional. We booked a meal in the restaurant expecting usual hotel dining room food, but were very pleasantly surprised. The dining area felt like a small intimate restaurant area and had a lovely atmosphere. The menu was varied and interesting. Once again the waiting staff were pleasant and professional. The food surprised us all. More like fine dining than hotel restaurant food. Beautifully presented, and delicious. We all said that if we were back in the area we would eat here again. Breakfast lived up to the standard of the previous night. All in all, we couldn’t ask for more. Clean and comfortable rooms, great food, and excellent service. Collapse

Booked a 2 day birthday to celebrate my birthday with hotel.com. Pictures on their website was a lovely fresh room with coffee machine bathrobes bit was not what we got. Our room was meant to be a executive double with sky channels and bathrobes. None of which was in the room. Room we got was a dirty dated and carpets worn down to the thread room 410. Complained to reception to be honest think it's a constant complaint. Breakfast was lovely apart from the dirty napkin with dry food from night before. Even the reception and restaurant areas not hoovered. The whole place needs a good deep clean. The room was disgusting didn't go back again as there not concerned about the complaint before. End the end we only went back at night and left after breakfast. Housekeeping was in to freshen up room. He didn't even speak to us. NOT sure if he even spoke any English. Grunted alot and left. Had to ask for toilet roll. Dusting wasn't done either. I'm a housekeeping manager for a 4 star hotel in Edinburgh. Poor standards at Cardrona won't be back. Collapse

We stayed for 2 nights this past weekend as a family of 4. The hotel is lovely and the view from the upgraded golf view rooms is stunning, the room was spotless and spacious. When I checked in I was not advised that we should book our breakfast sitting or indeed make any dinner reservations. We went to the bar / restaurant area around 6pm I think and my husband was advised that the restaurant couldn’t accommodate us until 8.30( no good with a 2 year old who is in bed before then)no problem we decided to eat at the bar , the food was ok , the drink prices high but what I expect when I stay in a hotel. I then asked my husband to double check with reception regarding breakfast arrangements as I seen a card in the room suggesting 2 separate sittings. My husband was told by the rather abrupt receptionist that we could only have the later breakfast sitting (10-11.30 I think) my husband explained this wasn’t going to suit as we have small children who want breakfast quickly after waking ( the youngest never sleeps past 7) so 10 was far too late especially as the hotel doesn’t even have anywhere we could purchase snacks from to tide the kids over until breakfast. The receptionist came back with a solution of room service at 9-10 free of charge , still not good enough, try keeping a hungry 2 year old happy and quiet between 6.30 when he wakes and 9 until he gets fed nope! Anyway they eventually said if we were there for 7.30 on the button we could have an early sitting at breakfast. We arrived at 7.30 to find ourselves and 1 other table ( it was a large party of around maybe 12 or so although only 4 were at the table when we arrived) I appreciate the kitchen and wait staff do not want to become overwhelmed with food orders when they are accommodating a large party however even by the time we had finished breakfast ( was lovely by the way) the restaurant was only 1/3 full so I don’t understand the reasoning behind the receptionist giving us such a hard time trying to get the early breakfast sitting♀️. The staff in the restaurant at breakfast were great a real credit to the hotel. We will visit again in future and now we know the policy of booking your breakfast slot we will make sure we do so next time. However it would be helpful upon check in to be advised of the policy especially when young children are included in the booking. Oh we also made use of the pool changing areas clean and the kids loved the pool. Collapse

Had a fab time at this Hotel, facilities were great, rooms were spacious , clean and comfortable bed was very very comfortable, Dinner was excellent as was the breakfast as everything was fresh and made to order, swimming pool, steam and sauna room were great and there was plenty of room for everyone, staff were very nice and nothing was to much trouble, This hotel has lovely views but due to it being January we couldn't get a walk as it was horrible weather. This Hotel is pet friendly also. We had late checkout which was given to us at no extra charge which was very kind of them. Dinner was booked for 8pm and we were seated for the time we booked, restaurant staff were very attentive and were always there if we needed anything. Collapse
