We had planned to have an informal bar lunch for my brother's birthday meal but as the bar was busy we could sit in the restaurant and choose from any menu. We decided on the restaurant's Sunday lunch set menu which was a terrific choice as it was excellent value for money, quality and delicious. The service was second to none and our waiter Kevin was delightful and made my brother's birthday lunch special. Having visited the house and grounds for many years before it was a hotel, it is very nice to see such a beautifully restored house and gardens in my ancestors county of Leitrim. Collapse

I'm travelling with my daughter and she so wanted to stay in a castle! We drove all the way from Achill Island to stay here. On checkin we were taken to our room which was not in the main house but in the stable yard. In this building they must have had a leek some time ago as there was an awful damp patch and on closer inspection it was stuffed with towels!! We got to the room and I thought "ok let's just make the most of it". I opened the mini bar to have a refreshment before dinner and give my daughter a snack; mini bar was completely empty! Then looking around the room it was dirty, this was not going well! Restaurant was fully booked for dinner so had it at the bar, the food was very poor and dessert was just awful. By this stage we were not having such a great experience, the staff to were not at all friendly or very helpful (apart from Conor). Ladies toilet was even missing a seat, this is meant to be a four star!! Breakfast was ok apart from the rude waiting staff. They were very busy but still not acceptable. Oh and no Wifi!! We took a stroll around the gardens which was very enjoyable even in the rain (I would recommend this). On checkout we let the receptionist know about our concerns her reply "oh sorry to hear that, we will make sure it's better next time", again not acceptable. If we had known we would not have a room in the main building we would not have stayed and driven the 3+ hours. We will not be returning. Tips: make sure you request a room in the castle I'm not one to usually give negative reviews but dont want other travellors to be disappointed like we were. Collapse

This was a return to Lough Rynn Castle hotel and we were not disappointed. We felt relaxed from check in to the end of our stay. The room was spacious and so comfortable. Breakfast is fantastic. Lots of fresh fruit, cereals and not just the usual tea or coffee but hot chocolate too. A special mention to Tracy who remembered us from before and was very attentive and helpful. The bar food was excellent and great value. The grounds and walled gardens are just beautiful. I'm looking forward to my next stay. Keep up the good work everyone at Lough Rynn. It is a special place. Collapse

We recently visited Lough Rynn Castle and Gardens for a lovely afternoon out. As we were early we took advantage of the fabulous grounds and had a walk around the beautiful walled gardens. Kevin Lowry was kind enough to give us an informative tour of the castle. The whole place is beautifully restored and we enjoyed hearing the stories of its past from Kevin before showing us to our afternoon tea. This was a beautifully presented and a plentiful affair. We really appreciated the excellent service given to us by Michelle. She was so attentive and friendly, topping up the tea and coffee as was needed as we helped ourselves to the lovely food. We would definitely recommend the afternoon tea at Lough Rynn. Thanks to all the staff. IT & Tourism Class, NLN Sligo Collapse

Got a voucher as a wedding present. Decided to use it before our first baby was due.... we were looking forward to a relaxing night away. On arrival room was not ready which was fine as we were an hr early... we decided to have tea which we were brought into a tiny room which every conversation could be heard. We were told some of the areas were closed due to a wedding... in fairness tea and scones were delicious... once our room was ready a very nice girl showed us to our room across the yard.. room was fine... disappointed as no bath tub... would have loved a bath as 35 weeks pregnant.. swallows nest right outside our window which was very annoying during the night... corner shower was tiny which as being heavily pregnant was not ideal or anyway comfortable... we strolled around the gardens which are beautiful. We decided to go into the bar and we sat down and my husband ordered a non alcoholic beer to be told they have none on the premises... we were also told that the seats were reserved for a wedding and we would have to get up when they came in... we were booked in with dinner package included.. on arrival at the restaurant we were brought out of main restaurant and shown into a dark room with 3 tables... we really felt isolated and nearly in the way.... we found the food below average especially the beef which had so much fat and was more like stewing beef... veg was so soggy.... dessert was nice.... Even breakfast the next morning was only average.... very little fruit choice... small enough breakfast.... We were really disappointed with this place and felt in the way most of the time... I understand if people book a wedding they need space for their guests but I feel that the hotel should not take other bookings and make guests who are paying big money to stay feel unwelcome...
