Lough Eske Castle, a five star castle hotel is located just outside Donegal Town, has a rich history dating back to the 1400's being associated with the O'Donnells, the founding fathers of Donegal, a county in the Northwest region of Ireland. This is an historic building in a storybook location delivering superior hospitality and comfort. The castle hotel is the ideal place for the business traveller who wants modern day comforts and solitude to brainstorm; the wedding couple who want a WOW venue for their special day or the company who wants something different for their clients and employees.

Lough Eske is an amazing must see/stay hotel. From the moment you arrive the staff are incredible, the attention to details and the level of high service is FAB. You really feel like a princess here. The room was amazing, great size and again and facilities you wanted were there for you. There is also a beautiful scenic cycle/walking routes all around the lake. A must see place for everyone, I can't wait to return! Collapse

My husband bought me a stay here as a Christmas present and it was an amazing present. Check in was very efficient, informative and quick. Our room was amazing with loads of space, a four poster bed, double sinks, large bath etc. It was beautiful. We ate in the bar on the first night and the food was first class especially the tagliatelle. We used the facilities in the spa the next day and I have to say we really enjoyed it, the only think lacking was a few more beds in a relaxation room, we could only get one at a time. Breakfast is also excellent, special praise to the chef who was making fresh pancakes while getting everyone’s egg exactly as requested. He was very chatty and excellent customer service was offered. We ate in the restaurant the second night and again the food was excellent and a bit more special. We visited the spa again where we were booked in for treatments. We both had back and shoulder massages and a facial. I felt the pressure on mine could have been better, I did ask for strong pressure but it was not strong enough. The experience was lovely though and to finish off a brilliant weekend we had afternoon tea. Our server was very knowledgeable and our food again was excellent. All in all we had a very good visit and we hopefully be back soon. Collapse

We stayed here for two nights in January and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and most definitely would love to return sometime. We booked a deluxe room and on arrival were told we had been upgraded to a suite due to celebrating a special birthday (we could not thank you enough for this kind gesture). Throughout our stay we could not fault your staff, they were all incredibly courteous and friendly. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings and it was delicious, selection was fantastic. Dinner was also beautiful and the service was both friendly and efficient. We also enjoyed some cocktails and mocktails at the bar which were very tasty. The pool facilities were also very good, nice to relax and take a dip. If there would be anything to recommend to add to your already top notch service it would be, maybe a bigger TV in the room. Overall a great experience and we left feeling refreshed and spoilt so thank you. Collapse

I previously stayed here in 2015 and had a wonderful stay in one of the courtyard rooms, so when my partner took me there for my birthday last week I was over the moon. This time we stayed in one of the deluxe guest rooms in the hotel itself. The room was very spacious and the bed was like a cloud (anyone know where they get their beds and bedding?). I was also blown away to see a complimentary cupcake had been left for me. However, I was very disappointed with the finish of the room. Particularly given their accommodation rates. The curtains didn’t close properly and let a good bit of light in, making it very difficult to sleep, the tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and I grazed my toe, there were tiles missing under the sink which is very noticable when relaxing in the tub, the toilet roll holder was broken, the floorboard in the room were very creaky and we didn’t find the “do not disturb” sign and a few other bits until the last morning when we were checking all the drawers to ensure we had everything. It would have been handy the previous morning when housekeeping woke us before 10 on our first morning there (much needed lie in after making the most of the lovely bar the night before! ). Also, the Internet was not working for the duration of our stay. Apparently there was an issue in the area, however when we ventured to Harvey’s Point for lunch after a stroll theirs seemed to be working fine. Nice to have to switch off but a pain for keeping in contact when you don’t have service. Another bug bear was that each time we went to the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) we were left waiting some time before being seated. The food however was amazing and the staff could not have been more attentive, helpful and friendly. Lovely castle, but the hotel needs some work to bring it up to the standards they charge for. In advance of our first baby, my fiancé and I went for a weekend “babymoon”. As soon as we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel so special and well treated by the staff. We were in awe of the surroundings and our room, which was just a standard, was beyond our expectations in terms of size and grandeur. The bed was like heaven. I loved all the decor throughout, tastefully exquisite. We ate in both the bar and restaurant. Both, the restaurant especially, were just out of this world. Breakfast was amazing and I particularly enjoyed the live pancake and egg stations. Although not very big, the spa and the pool were again very luxurious and relaxing. I wished the stay was 2 weeks rather than 2 nights we have stayed at Harvey’s Point, around the corner, several times, but when returning to this part of the beautiful country it will always be to Lough Eske Castle from now on Collapse

Positives: The drive into the hotel is beautiful and the front of house staff are exceptionally helpful. They took our luggage from our boot up to the main reception and let us check in earlier than 3pm which was a first to be honest and very impressive. We got booked into a junior suite and the room is enormous with a separate living area and huge bed. The food at night is absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth every penny, as is the fresh breakfasts the next day. The main bar area is also good whilst the main drawing room with the log fire is the best area to have a few quiet drinks and relax. Negatives: The heat is the rooms doesn't work effectively and they seemed unable to heat the actual room itself which would be hard as the ceilings are so high. The TV is atrocious and is difficult to work effectively as it keeps turning the picture off. The main pool area is underwhelming and was vacant which says it all really plus the water is cold. You have to pay to get into the thermal suite which is really just a big jacuzzi with half the jets out of order, a floor which you would break your neck on (maybe poor choice of tiles), and a few steam rooms, very disappointing. You also have to walk outside across gravel to get to the pool area in the cold and very sore on your feet as you have the normal hotel issued slippers on with the thin cardboard sole so not helpful. The bar area was good however the fire wasn't lit which seemed silly, the food was a little underwhelming here and overpriced. Collapse
