Stayed two nights in a Curve suite for a staycation. Even before arriving the service was positive. I had booked with the wrong credit card and emailed the front desk and to cancel one of my reservations. This was done effortlessly and efficiently. The room itself was large, and clean with floor to ceiling windows letting in lots of sunshine, and offered great views of the dock and the skyscrapers of the City. Storage is ample. Bathroom was adequate, it won't wow with its decor, but it had most of the necessary amenities. Extra or missing amenities can be ordered through the Marriott Bonvoy app. Tea and Nespresso is offered, and a minibar that warns you that any item moved will be charged! Macaroons and two small bottles of prosecco was delivered to my room, which was a plenty surprise. Breakfast at the Manhattan Grill was excellent as was the small nibbles at the lounge. Really good staff, especially the concierge and the lift attendant/doorman. The area was a pleasant surprise. There are lots of options for eating, and good connections to many tourist sites. Finally, the area is less touristy so the area outside is not as crowded. Collapse

A great hotel in a lovely location, big clean rooms, friendly and helpful reception and concierge staff. A nice bar to sit back and relax or have some lunch. The only negative that stops me giving it a 5* review was the breakfast service which at best could only be described as chaotic. Some of the breakfast service staff unfortunately did not have the same level of customer service as the rest of the hotel staff. When you are paying £220 per night for a room your expectations are quite high when it comes to customer service. We stayed there for 3 nights so experienced the breakfast 3 times. When you are served your tea or coffee you had to keep asking for milk which was not always the quickest to arrive. Butter for your toast again you had to ask for this. My daughter asked for a soft drink at breakfast as she doesn't drink tea or coffee (or fruit juice) and we were charged £3.38 (£3.00 for the drink and £0.38 service charge) for this. I thought this was a bit unreasonable given the money we had spent adding the breakfast to our stay (£25.00 pppn) which we got at a reduced rate of £15pppn which is still quite a lot for breakfast to be honest. We saw guests being kept waiting at the door of the restaurant waiting to be seated for breakfast and staff just ignoring them. We also overheard an argument between staff and a guest as the staff member when seating them said they did not have breakfast paid for when in fact they did and it was not until another staff member intervened that this was sorted out. This is not the kind of thing you expect to happen in a hotel of this stature. There also seems to be too many tables in the breakfast area as it is quite a small area and you are dodging in and out of between tables carrying your hot food back to the table and at busy times this is just chaos. The food itself is absolutely fine with it being of good quality and well cooked. My advice would be to either have a room service breakfast or avoid it altogether as there are plenty of restaurants nearby which do breakfast at very reasonable prices. I would return to the hotel because of the cleanliness and location but would definitely not have breakfast there. Collapse

I always worry about giving a hotel or restaurant a good review, because it invariably means the establishment gets busier and you can’t get a booking. Despite these concerns I have to say what a great hotel this is. The staff on reception, the first point of contact are amazing, so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are spotlessly clean and as you would expect in a Marriott the beds are great. If I could give this hotel 6 I would. Collapse

London for a family weekend including a couple of youngsters, where to stay? Opted for Docklands as we had lived in the area. Staff in hotel were personable and helpful. We felt like guests here rather than experiences of other London hotels where you feel processed then on your own. Location was very convenient being next to West India DLR station and almost next door is the Museum of Docklands which entertained three generations for several hours including the youngest aged 3. Excellent steak meal in the Manhattan Grill where the children were made welcome too. Nightcaps for (some) adults in the G and Tea Bar. Fabulous buffet breakfast in the morning. Definitely would like to repeat our weekend. Collapse
