I'll start with the only positive and that is that it's near the station but that's it! As it was our anniversary we had upgraded from the standard room 2 levels up to the deluxe room, as and thought it would be nicer and a treat, but it was so bad we downgraded to a standard room which was strangely better. The 'Deluxe' room was grubby, depressing and in a terrible state of repair with a whopping great pillar in the middle of the room. Add to that the awful view and loud road (strangely no picture on their website shows the 4 lane dual carriageway right outside the hotel!) it quite frankly made me cry, which i'm not usually inclined to do, but it was so awful compared with our expectations. Staff were helpful in accommodating our request to change room as we were not happy to pay for the upgrade and they moved us to a standard room which was strangely slightly better, but they offered no apology or compensation for the state of the room and we were told that the room we were given was our only option as they were full! Not even a drink was offered whilst we waited. The standard room we ended up in (247) was in dire need of a refurbishment, the air conditioner had been leaking down the walls and stained the wood under the controls. and also didn't seem to work consistently. The carpet was filthy and had burns all over it, fortunately they provided slippers, the ONLY luxury item. The gloomy curtains needed washing, and the arm chair was worn through to the foam. The bathroom had seen better days and was grubby and worn, with the worst hotel hairdryer ever! The rooms are very dark and when we got there 2 of the light bulbs were blown as well and had to be replaced which didn't help. House keeping failed to vacuum the room and didn't replenish toilet rolls or tissues every day so we would run out. It's all just basic stuff that could easily be remedied. I gave up complaining as we decided we would spend as little time in the hotel room as possible and get on with enjoying ourselves. Their plug sockets didn't take the standard UK adaptors you buy and so we had one plug we could use which the fridge was plugged into which was a real annoyance. Breakfast was passable, served on the 2nd lower ground floor meant it was dark but even darker as every curtain in the place was shut to hide the awful views. Cooked breakfast was dire, Scrambled eggs were basically a lump of egg so you could have tepid rubbery chunk if you wanted, but continental breakfast food was better thankfully. Hardly any staff so if you wanted a fresh coffee (not from a nescafe machine) you would have to wait ages and plates were never cleared. Reception areas on initial sight were impressive and opulent but on closer inspection are also tired. Things like greasy lift panels and door handles just let it down. It is a good 15 mins walk to the Arena, and we walk quickly. Also an Aldi the same distance away if you need supplies, the nearest restaurant is the other side of the roundabout which did fab pizzas. The junction you have to cross from the station to get to the hotel is quite something! A bit like Hangar Lane gyratory and just as dangerous! Once you crossed several roads you have to go through an underpass tunnel to reach the hotel. This was a bit unnerving at night but we got used to it, a homeless man sets up camp in there every evening, but he keeps himself to himself and was always gone in the Overall the hotel was no better than a budget hotel but with a much higher price tag. This is my 2nd visit to this hotel and I can truly say once again, the service was very good. The Buffet breakfast a wide variety of choice, rooms are cleaned with fresh towels everyday. The staff, especially Andrian, were very helpful and friendly. Easy access from Verona. We took the airport bus to Porto Nuova station, then a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel. Throughout our stay we visited Venice, Sirmione in Lake Garda and toured Verona bu open top bus and walking. I highly recommend this hotel for all the above. Sonia. Collapse

If you have little time in Verona and want to see the old city then I'd recommend a hotel closer to the city; this hotel is 15-20 brisk walk from the old city and on a busy road with some traffic noise. The hotel itself is an eclectic mix of styles - not particularly of my taste. Rooms are clean but smallish. Breakfast is ok - coffee is Nescafe. Tourists flock here so get ready for tour buses of people at bfast. Collapse

We got such a good deal for our stay in this hotel, so didn't have too high expectations but were massively pleasantly surprised at how glamorous it was. The hotel in real life definitely exceeded the photos! It's a large hotel, with a beautiful reception area and very clean and lovely rooms, the view out of our room window was nothing to shout about but as we were here for a city break and to explore Verona, it didn't matter to us (although we could hear the factory nearby late at night). The breakfast was delicious with lots of options and it was in a great location, about 15 minutes walk to town and 5 minutes walk to the train station. I love Verona as a city and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and as it was such great value, I would definitely recommend it. Collapse
