We stayed for one night in February half term for a shopping trip with our daughters, aged 16 and 12. Perfect location right next to Trinity Shopping Centre - literally 2 mins walk across the road to the shops. Had a lovely day shopping - VS Pink a big hit - with lunch at Alchemist and dinner at Botanist. Room pleasant. Two double beds, wardrobe space and bathroom. Bathroom a little dated but clean. Check in friendly and easy. Definitely worth booking breakfast at time of booking rather than on check in as we paid more than we would have if booked in advance. Breakfast was good - nice range of cooked items, breads and pastries and juices etc. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely with the children. Children made use of leisure facilities. Pool pleasant and clean. Our room was around the central courtyard which avoided the noise of the bars etc in city but we did experience disturbance from the train line right next to the hotel. Parked at Trinity and made use of the discounted parking cost offered by the hotel. We paid £9 for 24 hours which was a massive reduction on the £27 charge usually levied for 24 hours. Reception validate your ticket on check in. Car park was a little tricky to locate but hotel website has sat nav postcode which helps. Booked at relatively short notice and paid £144 for the night for 4 people so a good price. Definitely well located for access to city shopping and night life. If you are looking for quiet luxury this is not the place but it met our needs and we enjoyed our stay. Collapse

My daughter and I had a girlie trip to Leeds, getting to know the city before she heads there to uni in September. First impressions were great - a pleasant welcome from the receptionist and we were really impressed with our room which had two double beds just for the 2 of us! We ate in the Cast Iron restaurant - the food was delicious - I can highly recommend the steak. Then the issue arose - we both had the worst night sleep ever - there was a nightclub adjacent to the hotel which we were unaware of. As well as hearing the beat of the music there was groups of people outside arguing and shouting for ages. Whilst the hotel are not in direct control of this - I’m sure on a quiet Monday night during term time there would have been alternate rooms they could have put us in. My main disappointment was how dirty the ladies changing rooms were at the swimming pool. The inside of the lockers were really dirty and so was the floor and all vanity areas. We used these facilities at 8:30 in the morning so it can’t have been that they’d been busy. Even though we had been in the pool - all the hair and dirt on the floor made us feel unclean. Not at all what I’d expect from a Marriott. Breakfast was delicious and there was a huge choice - all staff were pleasant and friendly. Would I return?? Probably not, the issues out weighted the good points! Collapse

Overall the stay was unpleasant, despite such a lovely hotel and great location the rude staff made myself and a group of friends more than uncomfortable. We paid to stay in this hotel just like everyone else but were made to feel unwelcome and as if we shouldn’t be there. I felt more than embarassed when our large group of 11 friends asked if we could pay in groups/not all together. The woman then sighed and had the most appalling customer service I have ever come across. We asked if some could pay via card and some in cash were she shrugged and I don’t think she actually spoke the full time we were trying to pay. Aimee the lady who dealt with us then wrote on a piece of paper to her colleague, were her colleague then giggled. Just like anybody would we then assumed it was a snide comment on ourselves. I have stayed at a lot of places in Leeds and I can honestly say despite the lovely hotel I would most defiantly not stay here again just for the reason of how embarassed and uncomfortable myself and my friends felt. We arrived very excited for our night but headed to our rooms quite upset. We were not loud or rude so I do not feel like we should have been great like this. Very disappointed. The rooms were also very dark and didn’t have a big light, only lamps making it difficult to get ready. Collapse

Stayed Friday to Sunday in Deluxe Room on a shopping trip with friend. We arrived prior to check in time but was pleased that my room was available and so could freshen up and dump our bags before we went out shopping. Room itself was great. Clean, comfy with tea coffee, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, v large tv. Leeds is great if you want to shop, the Trinity Centre is just across the road (can recommend food in the Trinity church cafe .. very reasonable) and from there you can get to St Johns and the Merrion Centre. Victoria Quarter caters for more upmarket with loads of quirky shops. We tried out the bus services too. Family day pass for £5. Great value, buses are regular and comfy. Had a great nights sleep, beds in the hotel was extremely comfy and the breakfast had everything you would want, from continental to full English, buffet service. Staff ... lovely, couldn't be more helpful, especially the concierge. Definitely a place to return to. And only a 5 minute walk from the train station. Very very happy customers. Collapse
