Close to noisy street

The hotel is located in the middle of Manchester’s Gay Village, and my room was facing Canal street, with a lot of shouting and music until 1am. I barely slept. But, the room was clean, with a very nice bathroom. The staff was very helpful.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but it this case I feel it's justified. I've just got back home after spending last night at the hotel. It was easily the worst nights sleep I've experienced in a hotel. When you book a hotel in a city centre, especially on canal street, you expect noise. What isn't acceptable however, is someone blazing out music in their room until 6am. Hotel staff came up a 4:30am and asked them to turn it down! Surely, 'turn it off' would have been better, especially as the hotel manual states 11pm is quiet time! Not that it mattered as they did neither. An hour later there was another visit to their room, this time by the police. Apparently this was unrelated to the noise, but it gives you an idea of what the hotel was like last night! Onto the room (33). On the face of it,it seemed ok. However, when we shut the curtains, we realised they weren't long enough and light was streaming in from outside. The light in the hallway was also on all night. To make matters worse, when I went to get dressed in the morning, it turns out the radiator had leaked all over my clothes and bag, a proper leak as well...soaked! I'll finish on a positive. The staff were very friendly and polite and the muffin on check-in was a nice touch. Collapse

On the whole the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble they really were approachable and took a genuine interest into our visit and what plans we had, offering some good recommendations as to where we could other that were different to our usual venues. Unfortunately this is where the praise ends, the number of budget hotels in Manchester now is great, we have stayed in much nice more modern hotels that were actually a little cheaper than this. Honestly, avoid this hotel at all costs and spend your money elsewhere. We booked a superior double room the first room we were given was right on top of the takeaway underneath the smell of grease and fried food was horrendous so we asked to move which was accommodated. We were then moved to a room next door the smell was much better but the room condition was appalling. The only lights to work in the room were the main lights, none of the mood lighting, lamps above the mirror or reading lights worked. All these features part of the hotels superior listing. The Lighting in the bathroom just flickered on and off randomly making for a very uncomfortable shower, added to a poor water supply which just pulsed on and off really gave us the worse start to the day. We reported this to reception and the gentleman came to fix the problem but couldn't. The blinds in the room had broken so were velcroed into place giving us the option of either being completely closed in or wide open. Surely you should just replace the broken blinds instead of making a very poor compromise. The room itself was filthy as we discovered worn clothing from a previous guest along with a mountain of dust underneath the bed. The chair in the room was soiled with make up and other unknown stains and the walls were heavily marked and tired and not worthy of a superior price tag. The facilities were basic at best and needs some urgent attention to bring things up to a decent standard. Even small details like the guest information packs were lacking and outdated, as it is full of venues which were are longer trading or open. Thankfully we knew the city well, but for visitors this is of no use whatsoever. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years but clearly its time for some investment, a good clean and a freshen up of the rooms. I have emailed all my concerns to the hotel over two weeks ago and am yet to receive any response. Collapse

I stayed in your hotel in November and i want to say it was lovely. I and my friend had a really good time. The staff were really helpful and nice, i wanted to thank the night staff Bruno for showing us good places to visit in Manchester and despite not speaking spanish he did understand us, because our english isnt that great. We also got a free room upgrade and a muffin which is always a bonus. I enjoyed my stay and we will be back someday. Gracias Collapse
