Although I wasn’t expecting a 5 star hotel I was disappointed with the value for money. On arrival my husband and I were given a room with a twisted window which meant cold air was coming in, we asked to move and were given a room with another poorly fitting window which meant the room was cold. As it snowed Sunday morning we really needed the room to be warm and it was not a pleasant experience. The breakfast was cold and not much choice. The staff were nice enough but we were kept waiting 25 minutes for 2 poached eggs and they didn’t seem bothered. I would not recommend this hotel or stay here again, it’s too noisy, rooms are cold and air conditioning units poor to heat the room. Collapse

The hotel is a 2 min walk from Hyde Park and located in a very quiet, residential/hotel area. Not much to do/see/eat within walking distance. Lancaster Gate tube station is a 5 minute walk, Paddington rail station is a 10-15 minute walk. Hotel breakfast was terrible and not worth £12 at all. The hot food (bacon, sausage, eggs, etc.) was so bland and almost inedible. Selection was small, only yogurt, granola, toast, croissants, bananas and apples. The rooms are small, but not cramped. 3 people had one room with one twin bed and one double bed. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, it just felt like I was sleeping on box springs for a week. The AC had a very bad smell, so bad that we shut it off immediately because it felt like dirty air was blowing at us. The bathroom is very outdated - the hotel bathrooms on the first floor were 10 times nicer than our room bathroom! The toilet didn't flush properly. You had to push down at least 3 times before it would actually flush. The towel rack was heated and burned me and my friends a couple of times at the touch. The shower was partially broken and so we couldn't adjust the temperature from the hottest setting. The towel rack is heated yet the shower and toilet don't work properly... Priorities! Plus side, hotel is not expensive. So you are paying for what you get! It's an adequate hotel, I think it's just getting old and a little rundown. The hotel gave us early check-in. Flight arrived at 10am and we got to the hotel at 11am, but they let us check in 4 hours early since the room was ready. They also hold your luggage for you in their storage area for £1 a day. I stayed for a week on a business trip. Staff were friendly and from the outside and on the reception are the hotel looks nice and looked after. The room and corridors look a bit dated. The corridors were being repainted while I was there. My room was somewhere in the back of the hotel through some doors and up and down some stairs, and it took me a bit of time to find it - there was no explanation from reception of how to get there. It'd be helpful to get told as its a bit of a maze. The furniture in the room was a bit dated and my 'view' consisted of a dirty wall and a dead pidgin - not great. The bathroom was fine at first glance but at closer inspection you could see that some repairs had been quite shoddy handywork. For some reason there were 2 showerheads -one attached to the wall whose controls didn't work and there was no water coming out, and the other attached to the very tarnished tap, which had a good pressure but had to be handheld when showering. I had quite noisy neighbours so didn't sleep very well and the duvet wasn't terribly warm during cool nights. Breakfast was fine, but the coffee didn't taste particularly nice. Staff were friendly throughout my stay. Overall the hotel was ok and in a good location, but there is lots of room for improvement. Collapse

This is a reasonable hotel with great links to Paddington or Lancaster Gate tube station. Staff are friendly and it's clean. I was dissapointed to have a small baby screaming next to me all night and feel better allocation of family's and business clients could have prevented this. Also on room allocation I was put on a floor where work is being carried out and I had to ask for them to stop. This wasn't the workmans fault more down to allocation. Collapse
