My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days, from the 8th of November 2010. We were nothing but impressed at the high standards that this hotel set. Everything was really clean; the staff were really friendly, helpful and always went out of their way to provide a truly excellent customer experience. The room was more than sufficient for what we needed it for, the maid came in daily, made our beds and replaced the towels in the bathroom with fresh ones everyday. The shower was very powerful and didn't change temperature. To run a bath took seconds and the water was always plenty hot enough. Our only worry was the location of the hotel to Belfast city centre. The hotel has a lovely spa. The sauna, swimming pool, steam rooms, jacuzzi and gym facilities are to a very high standard. There is little reason to venture out of the hotel if you want a relaxing weekend away; however, it is a short taxi ride to the city centre which can work out quite expensive. Our taxis cost between £10 and £14 each way and this soon adds up. We went to the city at least every day, but are used to high travel costs with a single bus journey costing us around £5 each at home anyway. When asking the hotel staff about alternative travel methods, they set up a complimentary lift for us whenever and wherever we wanted to go, which certainly goes above and beyond everything I have ever experienced before. Even when setting up for a big conference, they still managed to spare us a member of staff which we are more than grateful for. The staff were very easy to talk to, giving advice and recommending places and things to see. We couldn't have asked for anything more from them. The managing director of the hotel was most friendly and refreshing. He made every possible effort to ensure that his guests had the best possible experience, even if it was just by saying good morning and asking them how there stay was. He was actually the person who set up the lifts for us and made sure that he had personal rapport with as many people as possible. After speaking to the staff, they had nothing but good things to say about him and all of them seemed grateful to be working for him. This reflected in their attitudes and provided a good atmosphere at all times. Collapse

On arrival the hotel was very attractive in the sunshine and we had high hopes for our visit. Unfortunately it got off to a slow start with reception having a computer glitch and being unable to see if rooms had been cleaned and were ready. We didn’t mind this, the lady Tracey on reception was apologetic and professional even when under a lot of pressure. The room was clean and ready for us and everything in the room was clean and nice. The decor a little aged but nothing to complain about. The real issue was Charlie’s Bistro; we had a voucher for dinner there as part of our package. In short the staff were confused, unaware and slow. When we arrived we were ignored by staff for about 5mins while waiting to be seated then they attempted to seat us in a section in which every table was dirty and covered in plates. We picked another table and were given menus after eventually ordering the same chap who gave us our menu returned to ask had we got menus. The food was ok, nothing of great note but the plates were removed at a snails pace or slower. We passed on dessert. Breakfast on the other hand was great, the staff were friendly and efficient and the plates removed promptly. The food was lovely and the buffet was well stocked. Unfortunately though I don’t think we will return. Collapse

After booking well in advance for a one night stay for me and my wife to stay for one night for our anniversary! (Two months in advance) I was asked to change the spa treatments time twice in the final week leading up to it! Their mistake not mine ! May I add ! Once by telephone and then a second time by email ! Because the second time they couldn’t reach me on the phone! So I was told 4-15 until 5-15pm originally and then it was changed to 3-30 until 4-30pm and then from 3pm until 4pm and to be there 15 minutes before! And then To get to the front desk and to be told it’s actually booked for 2-50pm? I wasn’t impressed! Especially when I had a baby sitter in place to look after my kids! And she then had to rearrange all her plans at short notice, for the Saturday afternoon! It sort of set the standard for our first night away with each other in a long time! I’m not one for complaining but at £290 for a one night spa retreat will not be rushing back to la mon! It seems the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing! Wouldn’t recommend Collapse

Took my husband here for the “weekend break overnight escape” for his birthday. Had a quick and efficient check-in. The receptionist was very helpful although I did not get her name. Our room was huge with a queen size bed. Had paid to have a bottle of champagne in our room on arrival but when we arrived, there was no champagne disappointingly. After a quick phone call to reception however, it was brought up to our room straight away. We had our evening meal in The Mill restaurant. First class food all beautifully presented with fantastic service also. We had a few drinks in the evening in Charlie’s bar where there was live entertainment and also had the Frampton boxing match showing on tv. We had full use of the country club so we spent the following morning before check-out, relaxing in the steam room, jacuzzi, sauna and swimming pool. Amazing first stay here in this stunning hotel. My husband and I were both very impressed overall with the hotel. We stay in various hotels quite often and can say this is one of our favourite ones. Would definitely return. Collapse
