For a romantic weekend in Prague, King David was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the city. King David offered a warm welcome. We got first calss service with suggestions on the must sees and the best ways how to get there. For a small fee, you can enjoy the spa with jaccuzi, sauna and a varioty of treatments. The hotel is close to the metro, trainstation and bus stop with airport express. A ten minute walk takes you to the city center with lots of shopping and great restaurants. Collapse

Had this been a 3 star hotel they would have got high marks from me but not as a 5 star. Lots of good to say about this establisshment so ill begin there. Very comfy beds, high class sleept as a baby. complimentary coffe , waer and choclate. They had a very small spa, but at least they got it. So to the not so good parts. Breakfast had very little to choose from and it was extremly small. Even coffee was hard to get, i dont know if this is a kosher " thing" or not. 1 elevator which by the way was pretty slow. The hole building is pretty run down and has little with 5 star to do ( except rooms) . The hotel bar had extremly little to choose from, on a 5 star hotel i expect at least 1 bottle of high class whisky and cognac. No real concierge service and staff was nothing to be praised. To sum up, had this been a 3 star hotel it would have got highest marks from me, as a 5 star this is way below what i expect. Collapse

Late afternoon reception staff at King David Hotel helped us today [2 April 2018] locate a kosher meal for Passover after we discovered that the info we had researched on the Internet was either incomplete or erroneous. And we stated clearly that we were simple tourists, not even guests at their hotel. We went to the King David because they were the only kosher place that answered the phone. We had just finished a grueling 6-hour tour of the city and were exhausted. No complaints there: we had signed up for the tour and expected to be exhausted. (We are both 65+ and look it.) KDH Manager, treasure these staff people. They went out of their way for us and turned an unpleasant experience into a merely inconvenient one. They helped us immediately. Clarified exactly what we were looking for, made some phone calls to determine which locations were open or closed or where the Web had incorrect information posted, gave us a glass of juice and got us a cab, and gave us a hotel map of Prague with the required locations clearly marked with phone numbers. Even told the driver [in Czech] exactly where to take us. If I could afford to stay there I would. One man and one woman. The woman [I think she's actually Czech, but not sure] spoke Hebrew, which helped immensely. I repeat: KDH Manager, treasure these staff people. They went out of their way for us and deserve your notice and commendation. Collapse

This hotel has never followed the good standard of European hotel service - recorded under EEIG, setting the standard including nominating the accurate rating - 5 star Rating is not a matter of management picking from top-shelf for the pour pours of incorrect advertising - or as they feel like, - Hotel King David does not fulfill 30% of the requirement of a 5 star rating hotel ! Below a few notes but not limited to ! -Special need access - they do not comply -Parking, they don’t have -Reception, they got a desk! -Lounge, they don’t have -Consigere service, they don’t have -Staff, according 2 star rating -interior, carped is Warren out, an extremely dirty, like old Heathrow international airport / Uk -Room, inadequately fitted on all aspect and poor quality graded Ikea- -Bathroom, really poor quality - -No minibar - remember is a basic requirement according EEIG -Aircondition/climate control - in place but not operating -Breakfast service, no not really - minimum requirement # the minimum number of tables amounts to 60% of the number of bedrooms - hmmmm shall we say they got 20% - staff 2 on a good day - no serving at All - a few small plates of salad, instead coffee and the bags from a box - come on how low can you go ? -Breakfast - accepting kosher does not change the fact - lack of availability, lack of selection which has nothing to do with kosher standards - poor poor gastronomic skills even for kosher - - Hygiene, lack of attention of standards, from rooms to corridor to elevator - - Elevator, Ahhhh 1 for each 30 rooms - hmmmm ups. -Staff, no educational training what so ever, student service or similar doing their best - ……… You proudly follow the strictest standard of kosher - if you where equally dedicated operating a 5 star rating hotel I’m sure you will find The simple standard of EEIG as a walk in the park - Will we come back ——- ? Good question Collapse

We decided that on this trip, we were going first class: a stay at a kosher hotel in Prague Cz instead of a cheap one with a continental breakfast you can't eat. Because I daven in a minyan 3 times a day, proximity to a synagogue is important. When we found Hotel King David, it seemed as if we found gold! Pros: * kosher food lemahadrin * 3 minyanim a day (vatikin & regular 730) * full Israeli breakfast with real European food * availability of meat supper (chef cooked- very good) * Hebrew speaking staff at reception * full mashgiach all times * nice sifrei kodesh library * mikvah & spa * room clean Cons * price is high * waited a long time to check-in because our plane had many guests at this hotel who all came at about same time * couldn't get room early upon arriving So if you want a 5 star vacation- This is it .
